WOW! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have a Tactic 8 channel and I followed your directions and voila. It did take 2 days of research and multiple resets of the MFU, but it works now. Learned alot about my remote haha. l have everything to start building my truck and trailer but had to get this stuff figured out before I started. One down, one to go- a wireless trailer. I have contacted SS-Tronix twice in the past two weeks, haven't heard back from them, maybe Servonaut is beckoning. Once again thank you for taking the time to make your tutorials, they really did end the frustration. John.
Good morning teri can you help with this i have dx6i with tamiya 03 the drive on the left stick is the wrong way round up is reverse and down is forward need to change them around any ideas thanks
Can I use a Spektrum DX7 radio in place of DX6i for this setup. Would follow the same instruction as in the video? I also have a DX7s which I use for drone, heli and plane since it has a roller
You can use a DX7 and a DX7s... it's the same settings with dual rate applied to Elev and Rudd only at 75% - 100%.... teach the MFC with dual rate switch set to 75%
Hi Teri, thanks for the video. I’m new to the DX6i and MFC03, I have followed your instructions and can get everything to work except the hazard warning lights, any ideas? It’s doing my head in lol. Thanks.
Teri Wilde ok, I’ve just give it another try and they worked but then couldn’t switch them off, haha. I’ve also noticed that to kill the engine I pull the left stick left and the right stick down.
I've just bought a truck and this controller for it. Just wondering if the gears will be used in the same way as it would with the recommended controller set up and also I've got the Spektrum AR610 receiver for the controller, I'm guessing that is what you used too?
I use the HobbyKing OrangeRX receivers with my Spektrum Radios, but you can use the AR610 with the MFC-03 no problem... but, on the AR610 Ch1 is Thro and Ch2 is Aile (steering) so J5 Throttle goes into the Ch1 Thro and J4 Steering goes into the Ch2 Ailer.... J6 Input/Support Legs into Ch3 ELEV and the J7 Shifter into Ch4 Rudd.... the gear shift will then work on your Left Stick, Left/Right ELEV channel... I haven't shown how to Train the -03 for Trim or Gears as the DX6i used Digital trims and I don't use gears in my trucks, I keep them locked in 1st gear... I will be doing another video in the next couple of weeks showing how to train the MFC-03 fully with Stick Travel, Trim Travel and Gear Shifting set up for the Dx6i and maybe for the Carson Reflex 2 radios....
Awesome! Thank you very much. I wont be building my truck for a couple weeks anyways as I've got to wakt for a fair few parts to come still. I've joined the facebook group and will no doubt be in contact :)
I noticed in the video that if you start up the truck the front wheels move uncontrolled while the receiver is not not yet connected. I experience the same behaviour on my MFC-01 + DX6i, but then on all 3 servo's. Do you have any idea what causes this and how it can be eliminated ?
it's a "Failsafe" which is built into some receivers (not all)... I didn't reset it to keep the servos centred from when I took it out of a older model I had... I had it to Failsafe at Throttle Back, Aileron Full Left and Elevator Full Up... it does need to be reset at some point because if I turn off the TX the servos will go into their preset Failsafe position until signal is re-established.... the way to reset it is to Bind the RX until you have control over the servos (which you should already have)... power OFF the RX and insert the bind plug, then turn it back on, whilst the RX is flashing, remove the Bind Plug, the RX will continue to flash, press and hold the Bind Button on the TX whilst all the sticks are centred... power everything off, the turn on the TX and then the RX and you should have control over the servos... push the Right Stick either way full left or right so the steering wheels are turned, then power OFF the TX, if the failsafe is set the wheels should return to centre when signal is lost.... I hope that makes sense....
Many thanks for your advise, but could not get it working. First problem is that whatever I do, when I start binding, the servo position is always full out (not centered). Secondly, where is the Bind Button on a DX6i ?
they will position themselves full out at first until a connection with the TX is established... the Bind Button is actually the Trainer Switch which is Top Left on the rear of the radio... insert the Bind Plug and turn the TX on first, then the RX, (without the Trainer Switch pulled) and the RX will Flash. make sure all the sticks are centred and pull out the Bind plug and then hold the Trainer/Bind Switch forwards and that will set you Failsafe to centred rather than full out...
the DX8 is a different menu to the DX6i to set your Dual Rates.... the menu you'd need to follow is on my larter videos of the DX6...... The MFC-02 should be the same set up and teaching process as the -01 and -03..
you do not use the digital trims at all if you use the Dual Rate setting as I show in the video... when used normally, the stick travel on the ELEV & RUDD channels are limited to 75% and to operate the Lights and other functions you switch the Dual Rate Switch to 100%....
which mean that if not use the dual rate then I have to teach it for using the trim right ? but if so how to teach the trim is it just do it like normal ? but then our radio is digital type ? tks
if you don't use Dual Rate then you would have to use the trims and go through the second part of the Teaching process to tell the MFC how much your trims extend beyond the normal endpoints.... it's far easier to use the Dual Rate rather than keep adjusting the digital trims....
it's the same as per manual if you're using the gears one the left stick..., but I don't use gear shift on the stick, I use it on the AUX switch and calibrate it in the setting menu on the radio...
I've never used a Futaba radio but on your Futaba T8J you would need to enter your menu and go to Dual Rate & Expo.... at the bottom of you will see and you select the SWA to toggle your Dual Rate... set Dual Rate on ELEV (3) & RUDD (4) → 75% ← 100%..... EXPO should be left at → 0% ← 0%
I didn't manage to set things properly . even the first stage of teaching the first movement isn't working . I tried restarting the unit to default but again nothing changed, I stuck in the blinking lights stage
you plug the ESC into the ELEV port, Steering servo into the AILE port and gear Shift servo into the RUDD port.... that would give you Throttle/Brake on the right stick Up/Down, Steering on the right stick Left/Right and Gear Shift on the left stick Left/Right....
the RadioLink AT10 will work the same if you make sure that the Dual Rate is 75% - 100% for the channels that control J9 and J10 and you go through the Teaching Process with them in the 75% position... it's really simple

does the reverse beeper sound when going forward?

Hi Teri, thanks for the video. I’m new to the DX6i and MFC03, I have followed your instructions and can get everything to work except the hazard warning lights, any ideas? It’s doing my head in lol. Thanks.
if everything else is working then all you need to do is flick the dual rate switch and tap upwards on the right stick.
Teri Wilde ok, when I flick the dual rate switch and tap up on the right hand stick I just get flashing headlights and horn?
I think you need to re-teach the mfc and make sure your DR switch is off...
Teri Wilde ok, I’ve just give it another try and they worked but then couldn’t switch them off, haha. I’ve also noticed that to kill the engine I pull the left stick left and the right stick down.

I have followed the process and mine doesn't want to turn off by the control, flash the lights and switch it to the other horn, any advice?
are you using the MFC-03 or -01....?
Excellent vid, will this procedure work for the mfc-02 & a DX8?
the DX8 is a different menu to the DX6i to set your Dual Rates.... the menu you'd need to follow is on my larter videos of the DX6...... The MFC-02 should be the same set up and teaching process as the -01 and -03..
Thanks Teri will check them ouit
Hi how you teach your trim due to the radio is a digital trim not rocker trim ? I am having the problem on my digital trim setup ..
you do not use the digital trims at all if you use the Dual Rate setting as I show in the video... when used normally, the stick travel on the ELEV & RUDD channels are limited to 75% and to operate the Lights and other functions you switch the Dual Rate Switch to 100%....

OK got it , and how about teaching the gear shift if using dual rate ?
it's the same as per manual if you're using the gears one the left stick..., but I don't use gear shift on the stick, I use it on the AUX switch and calibrate it in the setting menu on the radio...
how to program my futaba t8j /. iv got no idea how to figure it out and activate my mfc-03
I've never used a Futaba radio but on your Futaba T8J you would need to enter your menu and go to Dual Rate & Expo.... at the bottom of you will see and you select the SWA to toggle your Dual Rate...
set Dual Rate on ELEV (3) & RUDD (4)
→ 75% ← 100%..... EXPO should be left at → 0% ← 0%
I didn't manage to set things properly . even the first stage of teaching the first movement isn't working . I tried restarting the unit to default but again nothing changed, I stuck in the blinking lights stage
on your receiver, make sure that J4 is in THRO, J5 is in AILE, J6 is in ELEV, J7 is in RUDD....
I'm not using the mfu ,how can i setup left stick as the 3 peed.right stick as steering and forward n reverse.
are you just using a receiver and an ESC...?
Yes ,i don't have a mfu.
what receiver are you using..?
you plug the ESC into the ELEV port, Steering servo into the AILE port and gear Shift servo into the RUDD port.... that would give you Throttle/Brake on the right stick Up/Down, Steering on the right stick Left/Right and Gear Shift on the left stick Left/Right....
Radio link at10 can do like this ?
the RadioLink AT10 will work the same if you make sure that the Dual Rate is 75% - 100% for the channels that control J9 and J10 and you go through the Teaching Process with them in the 75% position... it's really simple
Teri Wilde i'm sure dual rate 75% 100% but not work, Cuold you help me make a video for that, thanks
