I think that when you're playing a song, any song really, but most especially and emphatically when it's a song that you wrote, you're free to do it any way that it happens to come out. There are what you might call mistakes, when something unplanned occurs, and you would want to roll with it. These guys are incredible.
the meat puppets have given me so much joy in my life. they should be inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame for their excellence and influence for all those who have followed them and stood on their broad shoulders
Saw them open for Black Flag and Nig Heist in 1984(?). Definitely changed my musical tastes. I remember hearing Tumbling Tumbleweeds and other bluegrass/western type songs. Then I went and bought Meat Puppets II. And Up On the Sun a little later.
This is such a beautiful song and sound. The brothers Meat Puppets are fantastic writers and musicians. I feel like I'm dreaming when I listen to this performance.
It’s the power of the insight and musical expansion. This is one of the all time greatest feats of songwriting. It transports me, it’s literally my childhood, and the outro/bridge/solo is truly masterful. The “mistake” was even better than the original.
@@Philip.A.Holmes I don't think people even realize that the guitar and bass player of the Meat Puppets were doing the majority of the instrumentation in the Unplugged version. Obviously it was a Nirvana gig, but Kurt wanted the Meat Puppets songs to be performed in the fashion of "Meat Puppets, featuring Kurt on vocals, Krist on 2nd guitar, and Dave on drums".
@@johnbatinovic6593 Not on the three Meat Puppets songs they performed. Cris Kirkwood did. Krist comes in during the outro of "Plateau" on second guitar.
Awesome even the slip...it doesn't matter that f-n guitar and bass!!!! The drums are a don't judge a book by it's cover thing. Very fitting. Sounds great!!!
this is their song... Look a the credit of nirvana unplugged ! Nirvana song three Meat puppets song in the unplugged, and Kurt said it just before the first one
Just gotta live how they never took themselves serious, theybjust do what they do, especially the way they can brush off people always mistaking their original as being a cover, meat puppets will always have a place in ky heart
Great "live" version! Does someone know which effect is used from 2:49 (the noisy effect)? Is it an effect on guitar (which seems to remain clear)? Or from another source-what I suppose? Thanks in advance!
My comment was an elaborate joke, that obviously failed. It was in referance to the fact that many Nirvana fans thought that "world" was an original Nirvana song.

Still brilliant, still haunting, still Meat Puppets; hard to comprehend it has been thirty years since it was written.
It's about construction and production

Raw and bad ass. Their end of song solo instrumental rants are epic. Makes me miss acid.... kind of.
"Let's play that Nirvana song" lmao fucking Curt, and yes his name is Curt but spelt with a C

Nirvana covered this song. It was written by the Meat Puppets. It's on their album "II" which was released in 1984.
Amazing guitar playing, but that full keys pocket drum is fantastic!!!!
