Thank you Nirvana for introducing me Meat Puppets
Kinda, I heard "Backwater" on the radio though....plus, that outro rocks!✊
Totally... such a lush song
Meet pupets introduce me to. Grunge in Newcastle riverside first English tour I’m. Old
Базара нет , братан. No talks . Bro. I'm russian. No cant translate correctly. Но братан. Бро. Hug you . Или как там у вас? Обнял . Приподнял и обнял . Гг lift you up and hug you. Soory my english
Meat Puppets did it before Nirvana
That break into the different chords at 1:57 is one of the most beautiful bits of music in my opinion.
Their songs age like wine.
Go bitter?
Honestly this is basically a Neil Young song and Kurt put a better tone to it
@@jontone7866 how the fuck does this song sound like Neil young?
@@anthonywhite5007 the original meat puppets version sounds almost exactly like unplugged
These dudes are legit. Still sound fantastic after all these years.
Animales don't let me be missundetstoof
holy shit what a find. sometimes i love the internet:-)
True I'd pay
''who needs actions when you got words?''
Personally, ithink your hair is ok, long as it doesn't get in the way of the instrument! :O
SO weird i scrolled to comments right after he said that and saw your comment
Right!
"I'm thing 1, and that's thing 2"
Jaysun Fox Cover your hair
"and your eyes then"
For those wanting a reference: ruclips.net/video/8xUW1MCBHWo/видео.html
&How about thing 3, you guys got my like! ;)
Cover your hair and eyes
The brothers meat
Vs the brothers Grim
their new name. The Brothers Meat
Lets meat and have a butchers 🐖🐄🐔
strap on yur geeeetar
Wow, these guys are really awesome...they have a really neat spin on this kind of music, you can hear their bluegrass / country style finger picking and chord progressions, but then it gets a nice melodic twist to it...He is a great singer too.
yes agreed good comment
I've been listening to these guys since 1987 and have heard/seen the performance of this song many times. To me, this is the best version.
Agreed
Finally a descent commentary.
@Raymond O'Connor NO
Your kidding right !
Try getting your ears checked!
@Raymond O'Connor Better than this performance IMO but the original recording is the best version
At the minute 1.55 starts the magic. The end of the song is so beautiful, but in this version is even better. I love it!
Totally agree 👍
I could loop that and smoke weed for days listening to that riff.
To be honest that riff looped in my earphones at work would probably be the ultimate.
Legend city bitches!
@@king0cansyeah true. Kirkwoods vocals are dope tho love listening to meat puppets while smoking
To all you idiots out there that are saying that this was a cover of Nirvana, or that Kurt did a better version of the song, just remember; THIS band wrote the song and THIS singer is the one who could hit the notes correctly and play the guitar at the same time.Kurt just sat there (no guitar) and squeaked his voice a bunch until the song was over.
these guys kick ass.
Bob Brown
They sure do, been around since forever and still rocking out👍🏻
Im wondering how Kurt could interpret this song the way he did. It was just so felt different, and much beautiful. But the Puppets are great, too.
I find them equally pleasing too. Different twists for a different feel
Listening to this on headset with just a little weed, not too much needed; just pure happiness, no yesterday, no tomorrow, just now and this sound. Much love to these guys, they rock as ever. And greetings from France to you, rocky pals here. And THAT outro! Priceless.
has anyone tabbed the solo at the end , its honestly one of the best things i have ever heard , so much soul....
totally agree
He's basically playing dissonant chord patterns based around EM, A, C A5 and back to EM
Agree dude
Long ass time ago
Nah after 30 years there's no tab for it 🙄
Curt Kirkwood is a guitar god! So brilliant as a player! One of my all time favorites!
I wouldnt have found them without Nirvana Unplugged but Meat puppets are awesome ::) much love to them x
dave grohl looks so calm
Luqman Perwira 😂
🤣
lol
It looks more like Mark Arm from Mudhoney
😂 😂
I love the lyrics:
Many a hand has scaled the grand old face of the plateau
Some belong to strangers and some to folks you know
Holy ghosts and talk show hosts are planted in the sand
To beautify the foothills and shake the many hands
There's nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop
And an illustrated book about birds
You see a lot up there but don't be scared
Who needs actions when you got words
When you're finished with the mop then you can stop
And look at what you've done
The plateau's clean no dirt to be seen
And the work it took was fun
There's nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop
And an illustrated book about birds
You see…
Just incredible! So glad they are still around.
I agree 💯👍. I just saw them again Thursday 12th in Houston Texas baby!
One the best song ever made.
the more i listen to this and those guitar sounds the more i love it. Over and over and over! Three men awesomeness! 😂🤣
Too good. He's the king of cool. The times I've seen them have been some of the best live music experiences. Especially in the late 80's and early 90's. 95 w primus was great too
i like how as the band ages this song changes genres
I think that’s what they call ‘timeless’ ....
"Nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop and an illustrated book about birds."- possibly the greatest lyrics in the history of mankind.
Plateau is one of the best songs of alltime
kurt loved these and i can see why, i love there unique style of singing
The piano and rhythm guitar adds so much fullness to this beautiful beautiful song. It’s gorgeous as a three piece and I appreciate the power produced, yet piano and rhythm guitar stretch the infinite into another realm.
nirvana brought me here and im glad..that was fucking rad 🌊
I am so happy I got to see Eyes Adrift in Little Rock in October 2002! It was so cool to get to see Curt from Meat Puppets, Bud from Sublime, and Krist from Nirvana!
The album this originated from is one of the best albums I've ever heard! check out 'Meat Puppets II" it has all 3 songs covered by Nirvana FYI. The album itself is an amazing mix of Punk, folk, country, etc....
If meat puppets hired a lead vocalist they would have been huge. Their material is first rate..
Huh? Always thought the vocals &the song was done by Nazareth. Can you reach that? &My ear is peculiarly accurate! Ilove these guys from since the 80's, THEN. :)
Are you saying Curt isn't good?
I had the pleasure of witnessing the Meat Puppets live at four shows in the southeast in late 2015, and as I mentioned to Curt I believe that when the Meats play Sloop John B, Carl Wilson (R.I.P.) smiles that very special smile of his.
this video is the first good thing I can associate with Bing and the internet
These dudes are sloppy AF but I love it. Love the rawness
The more I listen to this I'm starting to like this version just a bit better than Nirvanas cover.
Junk Head yeah i feel like the sloppiness kinda sums up grunge. if you watch the lake of fire performance at bing, curts solo is ear sex.
I loved when he strummed this on MTV with nirvana
I agree with you, but this version is also very good. But I like the original from the album better II . The solo in it sometimes brings you to tears...
Thank you for inspirate nirvana
perfection
Original guitarist. Real og. My ass hat is always off to the mighty Meat Puppets.
That was awesome thank you
SO GODDAMM GOOD........
brother is awesome at this bass line! Love this beautiful piece of mastery.
Merci, thé meat puppets, c'est un de mes morceaux préférés.
💓
excellent performance!
Curt and Kris look like those 2 uncles Rob (Kris) and Jerry (Curt) we all have that sort of lurk around and smell funky at family gatherings but are really cool.
"These are the Brothers of Meat Puppets" -Kurt Cobain
the bassist and guitarist are brothers that's why he said it then curt and cris kirkwood
Just a perfect song. Profoundly simple and true.
you look at them and think "wow!" but you then start to think, this is what Kurt would look like now as well
Awesome 👏
songs never fade
I had never heard of this band. They are awesome.
Meat Puppets for life!
best band ever: Meat Puppets
perfectly aged and the men embody their sound. The sluggish slounched humans with dangly long arms simply lazily but nostalgically plucking the string and hitting the drums. singing an anthem to some and and long emotion for them. that pile of mud emotion, laying sloppily emotion. I live for it
First I heard this band was in 1990, they still rock!
Wow. Great guys!👍
Who needs actions when you've got words
The better guitar solo I've ever heard.... So smooth....
yeah!
pure quality
well kurt loved these guys...and for a good reason.
Thanks bing
Studies have suggested that people naturally prefer the first version of a song that they've grown to know. That's why covers rarely outshine the original. At the same time, think of all the Clapton and Stones covers of old blues songs that when you find the original you always feel something missing. Cobain was basically the gateway drug for the Seattle scene. He brought attention to the unknowns just like white british bands brought attention to american blues artists.
Yesss
Brasil 2018...... saudades Nirvana... Seatle...
Awesome song!!!
Admit it. You're all here for that magnificent outro.
I don't know why but this song makes so comfortable and makes so relaxed like if I'm a teenager who lives in a small town
I'm lovin' it.
Interesting sound and way of performing
they have so manuy good songs, this is only one of them, only a 0,03%
Animatoste i would like to get some recommendations
Anyone else think Kurt looks really different here?
+Billy Collins
hahahaha LOL
+стреха артём correct...it's not Kurt, it's Curt. lol
+стреха артём your an idiot
William Raderecht You're*
lmao
Great song
he looked so old 20 years after
Twenty years? These guys were around in the early 80's. The brothers are both pushing 60 now. They weren't young in 2011.
Oh Yes! love it! thanks for posting, can't wait to see the brothers in manchester UK this year
47 humourless ornithologists have disliked the video.
Cara que interpretação!
"The plateau's clean no dirt to be seen, and the work.. it was... fun...." :)
Fucking epic band. Good enough for kurt to love and do covers right at the end of his music career.
They still got it :')
Thumbs UP!!! These desert dudes r epic!
I like this song... lol first heard it on the live unplugged nirvana show...
no shit sherlock.
Grande banda
Beautiful guitar sound all throughout but especially at 02:16.
this is great......never heard the original before.
Well, fuck me, people actually age as time passes. Truly this is a surprise of colossal proportions.
The O.G. M.P.🤞
meat ♥
This is called lyrics rockers!!
Said he first saw the Puppets in 1984 in a Unitarian Church in DC. Said he ain't never been right since. Amen. 🐢
The outro dude.. everytime..
*"Thanks"*
Tight tight
In the album he starts signing right away as soon it starts.
I think this song is about trying to find people to help you move, .... hell I don't know, I always just loved it.
fucking awesome!
Just imagine what the Meat Puppets would sound like with a great drummer like Jay Lane, Brian Blade or Ted Marcus!
pretty good
Plum fucin good
