I don’t get why people are suddenly saying the STI transmissions are weak. It was always the WRX transmission that could break at stock power levels, while there were multiple STIs running single-digit quarter miles on stock 6-speeds. STIs would snap axles long before the gearbox gave up.
I know this was like weeks into complete panic. People were still washing their takeout containers before bringing them into the house 😆. But if it meant keeping the channel going I was willing to do whatever it took
Shoot me! what a sound! STI's rally and the racing car has an amazing capability. Subaru doesn't just add power which is easy to do for every car company. Instead, they study and improve steering and mechanics. In the safety test, I saw it was a better score than Mercedes. But if you modify yourself, you can't expect the same safety as the original though.
These cars need so much massaging to work well, and even then the motor is such a fragile thing unless tuned just right. This one looks well built, Killer b makes amazing manifolds for these cars and really wakes them up.
@@smashersmasher2061 thing is with these cars you dont need 400+ HP. Early evos and stis running 200awkw are amazing. Out handle any car. Unbelievably fast acceleration thanks to the short ratio gearboxes. An evo with 250awkw will run that comfortably all day long and is insane on the track.
@@ShortySpit Agreed. There's another video on this channel of Tedward driving a 1993 Evo that's stock-ish with a gutted interior making just around 250hp I believe he said? People often forget that the Evo and WRX started as compact rally cars and over the years grew incredibly larger/heavier.
