  • What’s up guys? On today’s video we attempt to repair a couple of stone chips on the nose of the Corvette. The car is going on for a paint correction and ceramic coat soon so a few issues have to be addressed. It’s best to get these things done so the detailer can blend the repairs in during the paint correction stage. Trust me, it looks 1000 times better after it’s all compounded and coated.

Hey man, it definitely looks better than it did. And like you said its a learning experience. That's how we learn and grow. Cars gonna look great when it's all done

Great Channel. If you want to go through this exercise again,. You can bring the car to a body shop and they can scan the color of the car with a "gun" similar to what Home Depot uses for their paint process to get an exact match. Once you have the formula, they can then mix up the paint for you.

A couple of things that might help. Reds are ready hard to match up but I've had good results by sending a small piece with the colour on it for the paint shop to match. Those scratches were deep enough that they needed to be filled. The extra paint coats to fill in the scratches will never look correct. Do a wet sanding with 3000 grit before using any polishing compound. Also, always use a sanding block.

In future spray the color onto test strip then hold to the car so incase it doesn't match and need to change the color slightly

Thank you for your advice! When the paint was on the car it looked good. Once the clear went on, that’s when the color changed enough to be noticeable. As the summer has gone on, it doesn’t bother me as much…but it’s still there.

Hello Sir. I have a 1975 c3 in dark red color code 74L and I think it is the same color as your car. I live in France and here it is not easy to get paints or certain fluids in the United States, because they are not authorized by air transport. I myself have a paint chip on the nose of the corvette and I dare not apply paint that is not identical. In any case thank you for your videos and good to you Sir.
