Applying Vinyl PINSTRIPING

  • C3 Corvettes have beautiful body lines, but mine is so shiny that sometimes it looks like a big red blob, which makes it impossible to define the fender lines.
So I had to do something about it.
The solution was to purchase a five-dollar 40-foot roll of 3/16" vinyl pinstripe from the local auto parts store.
I chose Silver Metallic in order to provide good contrast against the red paint. I felt that white would've been too much, and black too little, so silver it was.
Installation can be challenging for the average DIYer who, like me, has no experience installing vinyl pinstriping. But, with enough patience and persistence, you can do it.
And the results are worth the effort.
I understand that pinstriping is not for everyone, but it is period correct for vehicles of the 1970s and '80s, and if you get tired of it for whatever reason, you can simply peel it off.
Anyway, I love how they look, and they truly helped define the swooping body lines of my '76 Corvette.
I hope you find the video entertaining and helpful if you decide to install vinyl pinstripes on yours.
    Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻

Looks good. Need a full view of whole car and stripes. I know it's hard to show pinstripes on video...

Yes, but with all the LED lights in the garage you can hardly see them once you stepped away a few feet.
I am posting a three-quarter view photo taken about a week ago to the Community page and I hope that will give you a better idea as far as to how they look outside. They're very subtle which is what I wanted.

Ok I really like your videos but now you have gone to far PIN STRIPE ? I think its time for you to get another project car so you don't mess up the 76.

But I really like the pinstripes 🤷🏻‍♂️ lol 😆
Having said that, I hear you and yes, it’s easy to go overboard. And I have another video coming out in a couple of months where I went totally bananas and pinstriped the hood! It looked ok but also ridiculous, so a few days later I took them off.
Anyway, I solemnly swear I will not add any other pinstripes to my Vette. 🙃
