Man, brings back memories of painting cars for a little used car lot in the 80's. They wanted EVERYTHING pinstriped. That's a really nice green
Thanks Bruce - true - almost every car had a pinstripe. Funny how things like that go away and never come back. Like big hair on girls - all straight now :)
I remember my 1st stripe job in trade school. You’d lay out a magnetic track on the side of the car then run the paint bottle with a little wheel on it to dispense the paint. The good old days. Have a great weekend Jerry
Bet it was the Beugler Pinstriping Kit 👍 My dad had one of those - all chrome and nice in a blue/silver box - if I remember correctly. Good times alright - you have a good weekend too Greg :) You got me thinkin' so I looked it up - check out this beautiful kit - www.beugler.com/shop/anniversary-kit/
@@LakesideAutobody I looked at that link and it’s similar but after almost 50 years I don’t remember exactly. Now that I’m thinking about it I’ve got one somewhere. It’s an individual glass bottle with the wheel on it. Really old school. Take care
Great video Jerry, I have learned a ton watching and rewatching your videos. Thank you for you sharing your knowledge and experience.
You're welcome Leigh - I appreciate you checking out the videos. Enjoy the week my friend :)
Great job as always Jerry. ! I like how you finished off the front !
Thanks 👍 - have a great weekend my friend :)
Boy oh boy...THAT brings back memories for me from the mid/late 70's/early 80's !!
I did a LOT of tape striping while I was in high school and a few years after graduating. My normal charge (providing the 'customer' bought the tape) for a stripe like that on both sides would have been $5.00 (considering I was working part time at a gas station for $2.75/hour) the $5.00 was good money back then.
For a more elaborate or double set of stripes (remember, vehicles back then usually had at least 2 body lines) I would charge $10-$15.... depending on how 'difficult' the striping was. I even did a couple during shop class...LOL
Things sure were easier then.
Good times in the USA - 1950's - 1980's Maybe? Thanks for the stories Russ - I love to read stuff like that :)
I think the pinstripe added a highlight to the paint!👍🏿😂🔥
I think you're right my friend. Have a good weekend :)
Enjoyable & informative. Thanks 😊
Thanks for the support - enjoy the weekend :)

You're welcome Bill - thanks for watching 👍🏈😊

A nice job can really make a vehicle look good. Great job Buddy
Thanks Rusty G - enjoy the weekend :)
Hi jerry, great video. My grandfather made one of those pinstripers with a piece of copper pipe and a dime for the roller. I still have it. Never tried it out though but im sure he used it . Have a great weekend!
That's cool - the US made pinstriping tools were super expensive back then - still are actually.
Nice tip 👌 👍
Thank you 😊 - enjoy the weekend 🏈😊
Good job !!
Thanks! - have a good week Don :)
great tip
Thanks Marty - have a great weekend my friend :)
I will NEVER attempt this but I am impressed nonetheless, great job Jerry
Thanks for checking it out YY - enjoy the weekend my friend :)
Wow Jerry, you made it look easy!,I'd have had kinks all along the bed,lol
I'm sure you'd do fine but thanks Troy. Thanks for watching and have a good weekend :)
I removed the belt line trim off my 66 impala because I didn't like how it protruded from the car. I was thinking of making trim out of silver paint, maybe this would be a better option.
👍 - have a good weekend my friend - good to hear from you as always :)
I was just looking for a video on this the other day. I was hoping to see a close up of the front end as you cut it. Reminds me of my time with Honda as a lot boy. Used to hang with the detailer and he showed me this years ago. I was slightly bummed to learn it was stickers and he didn’t hand paint em! 😂 now I wish I could get them stickers for my Jeep!
I don't mind stickers or graphics on cars / trucks - I think it really makes those Jeeps like nice :)
@@LakesideAutobody I agree. I like the look too! I’ve got to get through my flooring projects and then I might see about doing stripes. First up is a new radiator over the next few days.. always something! 😂 a 99 with 265k she keeps on going!
That's quite a few miles - must be the 4.0 😊@@Deadbuck73
@@LakesideAutobody yes Sir. 4.0 overall it’s great. Not too much I can’t do to keep her going. It’s more time than anything when it comes to fixing things. That rust bond is special! 🤣
👍😊@@Deadbuck73
Very good job just what I would do I do that for myself at home and body work to the rates of the shop are crazy out of control people have to learn to do things on their own instead of making the shop rich
👍😊
Are you going to put a little dab of clear finger nail polish on the ends to help them not peel up?
Good idea but never really had to do that. I think if your surface is really clean (wipe with thinner or rubbing alc.) you're going to be fine.
Hey where i can buy this paint striping please
You can get it at Autozone or any of the big chain auto parts stores
The green tape is a waste of material and extra step not needed.
Good for those that don't want to mess up with the real stuff though :)
