I am repainting my three C3 Corvettes. I purchased this product and it really did work as stated. I was surprised how well it works and this is going to save me months on these cars. I will purchase more. Very good for the U.S. market.
Thank you for the video I just bought a 86 Corvette which is my birth year and it has cracking paint all over it ... This will help me restore my new baby faster then the other videos I just watched ...
I have a 64 Corvette instrument housing made of pot metal and was sprayed with silver then black satin lacquer from the factory. With minor variations all 63-67 Corvette instrument housings and glove box doors were made and finished this way. Also, the console cover plate was made and finished the same way except for the color. All three items, instrument case, glove door, and console have a camera case grain pattern. As far as I know the silver is not a primer but may have had an etching property to it as it was applied over chrome plating. I and many others have tried multiple brands of chemical striper, lacquer thinner, acetone and DOT 3 brake fluid. I have been able to remove 75 percent of the black lacquer but zero percent of the silver lacquer. Given the track record of the above products I have doubts about another product being able to perform where the others failed. My questions, 1. what colors or type of paint will your product not be effective at removing? 2. Why is the base primer not removed as well? and 3. Will this product affect plastic body filler commonly referred here in the states as Bondo. Any information or insight would be helpful. Thank You
Hi, sorry for the delay in responding 1: In over 40 years of manufacturing Cooper's I'm yet to find a paint it wont strip, weather it be single or double pot as well as etched primers so I don't imagine this will be my first :) 2: In the case of the Corvette the owner asked that I didn't strip off the spray on body filler, if he had I would have left the Stripper on for longer & it would have taken that off as well 3: Bondo is the same as the spray on body filler, it will strip off if you want it to Cheers for reaching out
Did this only remove the base coat? It looks like the high build primer was left behind.. how does it remove a polyurethane clear without penetrating a urethane based primer?
@ulyssesvazquez387. Vertical surfaces are easy when you pace yourself, you need to lightly spray the product in a broad sweeping motion and re-apply more product after enough has absorbed into the coating
Hi, sorry for the delay, my quick google on SMC says molded fiberglass, so yes providing you don't over expose the surface with our stripper the fiberglass will be fine as it was in the video, the trick is to get the soak times right & then lightly drag off the finish, followed by a quick rinse with our Flusher to remove any residues Cheers
Hi, the owner of the car told me it was lacquer, but i do know it will strip all of those types of paint. What i can say is it was recently painted before it got caught in a Californian wild fire Cheers & thanks for asking

We recently bought a Dodge B250 extended van with a fiberglass topper, and have discovered many leaks in the fiberglass top. It has been painted with what appears to be automotive paint to match the van paint job that has started flaking up in some spots and has many cracks. I am looking into removing the paint so we can reseal the fiberglass with fresh fiberglass, to make it stop leaking. How much of this product would we need (approximately) to complete the paint stripping? I would prefer to keep cost as low as possible, so I was considering the Pack A to do the job.
Hi Jam. If you are only stripping the top of your van, Pack A should be enough. Can you please email us some pictures of the van at enquiries@coopersstripclub.com we would be happy to give you the right tips and tricks for your project
@@coopersstripclub I sent an email with a photo, not sure if you got it. We are still trying to decide our plan of action. It seems a previous owner of the van drove the top into something that scraped into the front section of the top, it's still intact, but we have leaks, and need to repair the fiberglass in that area after removing the paint. it is an 85 so the paint is older and already flaking up in some spots. I am hoping it's easy to remove
I understand, people usually wrap the car in plastic after putting the stripper on & leave it for ages, a real fibreglass killer However, with Cooper's there is no wrapping required & you only leave the stripper on until its done its job, resulting in a stripped surface thats clean, without any damage being done to the fiberglass
Hi, I agree, with conventional stripper that trick does make it work better, however with Cooper's its not needed, Cooper's happily absorbs in & gets the job done Cheers
No issues and it's fast and easy to freight to the States. Everything is air freighted. As to how much product is needed to strip a car, it depends. Most range from 5-10L (1.3-2.6Gal) of stripper.

Wow that's probably one of the most beautiful cars in there🇺🇸👍
AMAZING STUFF. WOW😲😲😲

Using this method to restore my pontiac Formula
How did it come out?

Is Cooper's available in the UK?
Will it safely take paint off an acrylic car that has been painted - a Bricklin ?

If you did have paint on fiberglass and there was gel paint underneath it would it hurt the jel paint
probably
how do you handle vertical surfaces on a car?
@ulyssesvazquez387. Vertical surfaces are easy when you pace yourself, you need to lightly spray the product in a broad sweeping motion and re-apply more product after enough has absorbed into the coating
Can it be used on fiberglass swimmingpools?
Hi, yes it can, but you need to be careful not to over expose it as the Stripper will damage the fiberglass if left on for longer than it needs
Cheers
I’ve literally just used a sander on 80 grit for 70% of my boat.. now I’m watching this from Australia 😂
Is this safe to use on SMC panels

What does it do to plastic filler
If our Stripper is left on for longer than is needed for paint it will dissolve the plastic filler as well
What type of paint was on the corvette; lacquer, enamel, urethane?

Can this be used on an old fiberglass camper? (1981 Perris Velley)
Do you have a customer service contact person to ask questions?
But may I ask why you tapped the rest of the body off if your going to strip it as well?
Simon, what did you use to plug holes so striper wouldn’t run inside the bonnet? Masking tape and …?
Blue tack. Office supply store.

Also would the stripping pack a be enough to do this entire car?
So is it true these cars never had a jelcoat from factory? If so how come everyone assumes they did?

I was taught to never use a chemical stripper on fiberglass because it causes the fiberglass to delaminate and react.

What is the company name of the stripper?
It would help more if you sanded it with 180-220 to "break" the clear coat. That way
the stripper can cut down further, faster...

@@coopersstripclub thank you, I also have a Corvette and why I was asking. I'll order as soon as possible
How long do I need to let it sit? How long did it actually take you to do that hood?
If its like plane paint remover, it acts fast. 5, 10 min maybe and then a second coat to get what u missed.
don't use aircraft remover on your Corvette...
Does this also remove the gel cost from the fiberglass?
Their is no gel coat on c3
Vetts don't have gel coat
@@joe30725 actually corvettes from 1970 up had gel coats..
1969 back just used a brown primer..
Thank you so much , my problems solved
Those who complain about this technique, simply don’t clean up very well afterwards.
Does this work with the old lacquer paint as easily as the base coat clear coat paint?
Hi gaj9080. Yes absolutely - Coopers will remove the lacquer coatings
