I love that Weaver is so defensive about the difference between animation and motion capture. Those actors poured their souls into those characters and she wants him to acknowledge that
yeah she's right to correct him. The post processing of motion capture is little different from an actor putting on makeup, except it's digital make up. No one thinks the acting is anything less due to make up/prosthetics/costumes in some cases it's even more of a testament to the actor to endure or utilize such things, and the fact they can reposition camera vantage point is the same thing as just taking different angles of the action on multiple takes.
And this is why i love actresses the stature of sigourney weaver. I learn new things in every interview she gives.
Right? I loved that. And I love how she explained there’s much more to it with stunt people and VFX from Weta.
Yes, they’re the souls of their Avatar characters. It would take a lot more time and difficulty if it was animation, and the movements and acting wouldn’t look as realistic.

Elegance goes beyond fancy brands and jewelry. Sigourney Weaver is an icon of elegance. The way she speaks, how seriously she took the interview although Jimmy was clowning around, how well she elaborates her thoughts. A true lady!
Definitely wasn't elegant to try and downplay the work vfx artists and stunt doubles did on this film
She doesn't overemphasize or underestimate anything. Whatever she says is always the thing that should be said, the most logical, etc without any pretension whatsoever.
@@josephpowell6926 Nah, she was emphasizing too much that she did most of the stunts which is kinda shameless.
This - class/character/elegance come from within - clothes may accentuate the man/woman, but they certainly don't "make" them.

Sigourney Weaver is one of my best actors ever. The 1st "Alien" was just amazing but the sequel "Aliens" is my favorite. She still looks gorgeous.

How old are you? You look like you are much younger than me. It is extremely refreshing to see that my favorite lady of the arts has a talent and charisma that transcends and wins over younger generations. As for me, I've loved Sigourney/Susan for most of my life (almost 40 years).

She is fantastic in Avatar 2. Performance is up there with the top motion capture performers. She wont get much due but I sure as hell noticed the emotions she conveys.

I like Jimmy but this interview could have (and should have) been so much better. He seemed either unprepared or overwhelmed and it was wonderful Sigourney who tried to save the chat by giving smart and interesting answers to somewhat childish Jimmy's questions. She definitely deserved more.
I agree. He was out of his element here. Hopefully Stephen Colbert will have her on. He'd be a better fit for the discussion about the special effects. I really wanted to hear more about that.

I felt that as well. She was a good sport about it and did what she could to move the interview along, but Jimmy kind of blew this one.
It was terrible. He doesn't seem to know "Aliens", asks if there was a little baby inside the nest and about Avatar repeats it was "crazy" 4 or 5 times
@@shethingsdshe was on Colbert 2 months ago and they spoke about Avatar before it came out in the first half of the interview so she may not be back on as it may be a bit repetitive unless Colbert can come up with new questions for her.
Just went to see this with my dad earlier this evening. I've been finding a lot of films these days have been getting rather boring. But all I can say is, this film is one of the most beautiful, powerful and most heart piercing films I've seen! James Cameron has made a masterpiece at the end of which both me and my dad were in tears over.
i love sigourney I grew up watching the Alien and Ghostbusters movies. She has also made other great films and is a power woman and film legend.

Alien 1979 with Sigourney is a masterpiece.
Most people think of it as sci-fi, but I consider it Gothic horror in space. An absolute, uncontested masterpiece!

For me Alien will always be a better film than Aliens, I love the Psychological aspect of the first film which the second film did not have at all it was more of a Action film which is all good, I like that both films are the same but also different but if I had to stay at a stranded island and take only one film with me and it between Alien and Aliens I would go for Alien without thinking twice about it.

She’s incredible and such a thoughtful articulate soul.I’ll never forget her performance in Gorillas In The Mist. Also appreciate her little shoutout for Weta, I was fortunate enough to have two talented tutors that worked/work for Weta and in particular the first Avatar film. We got to see some pretty incredible things from set and an all round understanding of how much time, diligence, patience and attention to detail goes into the process in its entirety…mind blowing.
She never gives up and never surrenders ❤

There is something wonderfully authentic about Sigourney Weaver. Her, along with Jessica Lange, just have a real honest, genuine nature to their character. Maybe that hurt their careers as Streep gobbled up all of the good roles from the 90s onwards, but I really appreciate how they don't mess around and just speak openly whenever they're interviewed.
'Aliens' is still my favorite action movie, watched it the other day, still works!
I went on an alien binge this past October aliens is by far one of the greatest action movies ever made
I watched this movie with my 14 year old daughter, and man Sigourney Weaver and the mocap animators at WETA absolutely captured the mannerisms and expressions of a feisty young teen, the combination of girlishness and attitude and complexity at that stage of life.
And, she's also Jesus
She looks amazing and very natural
