Every time with you cats, I feel like I'm watching history. But really, it's the future, and I'm overjoyed to be here to witness it. RIP DOOM, forever missed.
I have that exact same feeling every time I watch these gents perform. Lightening in a bottle with these dudes. Glad I'm here at this point in time to enjoy. Can't wait to catch them live.
put some hours into this one.. I've had MF DOOM on repeat since middle school so i hope we did the man some justice in our homage to the legend... if you liked what you heard please download the suite for free on our bandcamp or buy some dope merch to support (links in description).. love y'all madly hope you enjoy!! - seb
Hell yeah! I only found out about DOOM a couple years ago (hip-hop's fine but not a deep interest). That guy was a real genius. Glad you found inspiration! Exceptional groove beginning at 3:51. Thank you, gents! If the Big Names of jazz don't know your names, then shame on them.
love this a lot, notably the vibe out part. i just began playing bass a couple months ago and man i dream of getting skills like you. i'll keep practicing, you're an inspiration!
@@stevencooper3202 im planning to do it eventually, ive been watching Adam Neely on repeat for a few years now but i really gotta start to learn the basics cuz i dont understand anything haha
I laughed with pure joy when I heard what you guys did with One Beer -- I absolutely love it and this whole project! Playing All Caps over the Red Clay bass line was a brilliant idea too. I tip my hat to you guys, and if I had a metal mask, I'd tip that too.
This is the absolute best fathers day gift I could be asked for. beautiful to see young talents with the chops playing music that is often not praised enough. those keys are genius and beautifully complement the saxophone
this entire set was an EXPERIENCE. I'm not very well versed with Jazz composition in general, but I deep enough into my own musicality to appreciate the sheer amount of talent and love that something like this must have taken. Each one of you are geniuses in your own right, and as I listen to this for the 12th? time today, I can only hope that there is more in store for all of you. Just pure excellence on display here.
Holy shit boys, this goes HARD. I love how your sound has come together over time, but this feels landmark. This is beautiful stuff. Get as many ears as you can on this. I know I hear Coltrane in this, and I’m gonna have to check out MF DOOM now. There’s others in there too, but I think that’s y’all’s own voices coming through. Y’all are on the right path.
really nice, start to finish. in all honesty, I haven't watched too many of your older vids that have been suggested to me w/ clickbaity titles, but this one looked straight to the point and watched it right away. not meant as a drag in any way, yall are clearly very talented and growing your audience in the current digital landscape. but just my two cents. old man (29) yells at cloud moment
i CANNOT believe y'all really got ELEW to sit in that's dope also good job making the recent past (MF's rap) into something classical (jazz suite) while still bringing it into the future (YOU!)
I absolutely love DOOM and jazz, and your group did a masterful job putting the two together to make an incredible suite. I loved how your solos flowed in and out of the melodies any DOOM fan would recognize. Keep up the great work!!
its beautiful to see the themes, melodies, and progressions of DOOM in the genre of music that feels the most fluid and dynamic. Jazz has been and always will be my favorite form of expression and my favorite genre of music. yall seriously outdid yourselves
Dude, I can't even say how happy it makes me to see cats like you keeping straight-ahead combo playing fresh. There's nothing wrong with trying to perfect the style of Coltrane at cocktail lounges so you can earn the right to vibe check people, but that's not going to move the genre forward to renewed relevance. Stuff like this IS.
When I started watching Adult Swim I had no idea how much they promoted underground music. I slowly learned more about MF Doom (And other artists) and came to realize how amazing his work is. Glad to see people today still honoring his amazing music.
I love that these sort of represent a journey that music goes through. They started off as jazz tracks which were sampled by DOOM, and then reinterpreted by you guys. So cool.
played this music on my college radio show tonight... big hit! hope to be able to see you guys live soon :) what you are doing is so incredible to listen to
You all never cease to blow my mind. So tight and on the same page with a respect for the music that is palpable. As an amateur bassist I am awed by Sebastian Rios's skill and tone. Love everything the group does. Thank you for keeping jazz alive!
Love that shit at like 2:20 going up in fourths (or thirds i don't know honestly lol) just that motiff being move around like that added such a hip color. The All caps went crazy. The sax solo was very "out" kinda sounded a little weird: in a good way! Love the vibe, the intentional colors that are painted over these tunes, and how locked this band is. Drummer and bass were awesome. That bass tone is lovely. Solid work from the whole band. Amazing
thats the good shit, this is what i wanted for a few years and i never found it it feels weird when youtube sometimes recommends me exactly what i wanna find
watching you cats grow has been inspiring to me as an inexperienced musician. and this just might be one of the best things ive heard in a long while. yall deserve every ounce of praise and more! thank you for what you do
I heard an interview once Doom said he only ever listens to Jazz and never hip hop you can really tell that eith his flow and his cadence the way he randomly dips in and out and jumps around the track very free like a jazz player
Needed this in my soul today . That last song was special man , made me realize how much I miss Jazz Concerts . After listening to the last song for maybe the Tenth time this is vision the of the band I had when close my eyes , Joe Henderson on Sax , McCoy Tyner on Piano , Jimmy Cobb on Drums & Ron Carter on Bass .
Had tears in my eyes the whole way through. Banger job guys, imma have to cop this suite and check everything else you got on bandcamp. So excited to follow your careers moving forward.
Incredible love how you captured the energy and improvisational side of jazz in these covers. MF DOOM was one of the few that took that art of rhyming to the jazz level and this is a truly great homage. Amazing work hope to see this live 1 day. As a learning pianist I was blown away by that solo.
i went to jlco with wynton marsalis in dresden/Germany last sunday and I really enjoyed especially abdias playing. Got me hooked for more! Cheers from overseas!
This music is being brought into the future by your very hands, and with such a vigorous force of LIFE. Doom is forever but his music is so beautifully expanded by the acute vision of your ears
so incredibly fantastic. You guys are the only modern jazz musicians I listen to. You do honor to the origins while still bringing in new ideas- I love it !
I don't usually comment on the web, but this is my favourite MF DOOM instrumental tribute. The arrangements are so refreshing and kept me interested all along. You really made it your thing!
