hearing contrane after this; I kind of realize they were holding to record something polite,(Contrane), he would be fucking proud and in defiance, propably on the back stage waiting to put some sax in this chord massacreition hahahahah
@@erickdaves1466 have you heard 'Trane's live versions of this tune from 1966-67? They are absolutely brutal free jazz explosions of Pharaoh Sanders' screaming saxophone, Alice Coltrane's dissonant comping, and Rashied Ali's rhythmically liberated drumming. I recommend the version from "Live at The Village Vanguard Again!"
Hard for me to find the words for how this performance made me feel...This was otherworldly. Hats off to the pianist and bassist but especially to the drummer! My favorite things is probably my favorite Coltrane song and this is by far my favorite performance of this song I've seen.
allan mednard TORE IT UP here. such a sense of melody to his phrasing and he synergizes so well with the other two. sometimes i watch a jazz performance and just get my mind blown apart by a drummer, this is definitely one of those videos
This is my favorite jazz song ever. I've literally listened to it thousands of times, including all of Coltlrane's live versions. This performance was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Very much in the spirit of Coltrane's live performances of the song. The most amazing thing to me is the level of intensity that is maintained throughout the entire song. It's like everyone is soloing, at the same time, for most of the song. If I'm ever in New York, I'm going to try to find this group. If they ever come to southern California I will definitely try to catch their show. I don't think there are many groups that can do what they did with this song!
Round xmas this is one of the few tolerable songs played at work but it's always the most pedestrian lifeless version. This was exactly nothing like that. This reminded me why I like jazz.
Greetings from South America! I'm really loving the style. I watch and listen to this on a daily basis iit hypes me up and always puts me in a good mood. I hope that one day I can experience events like this in person!❤❤💕💕
HS! Amazing!! The part from 07:27-07:45 is ridiculous! I had to listen to this several times and I still hear something new each time...amazing talent.

Beautiful rendition. I have heard a lot of people play this song from the 1960s with Trane but for 3 musicians to fill this song up with the energy and feeling it amazing. Definitely got saved.

Huge respect for preserving Tyner's style on this song, really nobody else solos as beautifully as he does on this song.
Great energy here. Trane would be smiling.

Massimo from Italy . I listen to this beautiful music of the immortal John Coltrane and I close my eyes and my soul flies!

Like you, Harry, I love this.
But, Man, it's all real music...even the shit we don't like...imo.
@@ZOOTSUITBEATNICK1 Today's music is autotune, virtual instruments and stupid lyrics as a bonus. Nothing real lol.
