Best comment
one could say it makes you act on your inner urge
congrats to the drummer for matching elvin's original energy on the track
Got to live out one of my musical dreams by playing with the genius himself ELEW at Smalls Jazz Club last week. I've known about Eric Lewis since first hearing him while in my first year of high school on Wynton Marsalis' record "Live at the House of Tribes"... I instantly was blown away by his incredible energy and supreme sense of swing.
Since then he has become nothing less than one of the modern greats of jazz piano. He has a black belt in each style of the genre from early jazz, to swing, bebop, and beyond. He created some of the most mind-blowing innovations on the piano since Art Tatum with his "ROCKJAZZ" and "Counterbop" contributions.
It was an immense privilege to share the stage with such a GIANT of the music as I have been such a big fan for a while now and I couldn't resist sharing with y'all!
- Sebastian
Nicely said congratulations
I’m ashamed to admit I hadn’t put 2 and 2 together before sharing the stage with him one night at a jam in Atlanta. We played “What is this Thing Called Love” and, just as with this video, the intensity just kept rising and rising. Then when I was certain it reached the ceiling, this MF crashed right through it and sent the music into the stratosphere. Everyone was left in awe.
Jazz is clearly anything but dead, as this stunning performance demonstrates. Ten thumbs way up. Thanks for the great music!
not dead of course i love this guys and this music but why there is less than 20 personns in the concert ?
ive never been to a jazz club but I'm glad I'm not the only one who loses control over random body parts when listening to good sporadic pieces lol
Thats gotta be one of the best damned drummers I've ever seen tho
listening to this while studying data analysis haha
So in the music the room itself melts from the heat.
Man i wish id live in N.Y.
This tune is the G.O.A.T and hearing this supertrio play makes me wish that Kenny Garrett walked into the club that night and sat in on this KILLING rendition.
Coltrane himself was looking down on this that night from the heavens and smiling
10:18 GOES HARD
I love the faces this pianist makes they look just like what he’s playing
Excellent! Wonderful energy and excitment here.

Omg
sorry...OMG is a totally inadequate reaction to the exciting, virtuosic, deeply creative improvisational experience listening to you three! I've been listening to jazz for 60 years, energized driven crazy excited listening to the likes of everybody from Tatum to Peterson to Powell, Tristano, Hazel Scott, Eldar, Hancock, Chucho Valdes, Tal Cohen, and on and on...All too often, when I hear someone new, my reaction, even in the presence of immense chops, is ehhhh....monster chops...appreciate them...impressed....but show me somethong new....show me something that reaches down and pulls out a novel inner vision. yes...I know...tall order and who amy to say, on the listeneing side of the instrument, what any played should be doin?! But Eric...whew...you took me to new places and showed me your "inner urge" for real! Thank you! And Sebastian and Allan are also mosntrously talented!
What ?
