This is "Deep Blue" she's FAMOUSLY mellow. People have SWAM with her, she just ignores them. Its why they have an open cage. She's kinda friendly, or at least tolerant.
Anne Morgan yea they actually hold her fins and swim with her like she’s they’re pet lol. She’s probably not aggressive towards humans because she’s so big and she knows we wouldn’t fill her half a quarter of her body weight. And she probably doesn’t hunt seals all to often because if her huge size it makes it harder for her to hunt them. So that’s probably another reason she doesn’t attack humans normally.
@@adamd6648 She's not agressive to humans because white sharks don't hunt humans. There's an average of 1 or 2 deaths per year by great Whites, and they are accidents (they think we are seals when on a surfing table or pelicans when we are diving with those duck-like shoes). Our meat is not tasty for them, nor have sufficient proteins for them for us to be worthy of being hunted. Also we are not in their common diet, so there's not any reason for them to eat us. Being a predator is not a synonim of being a killing machine.

There are 2 different sharks in the video, deep blue ( the pregnant one ) and Lucy (with the mangled tale) I don't know both sharks were there at that time but to have them in the same video is pretty impressive

It was 2 different sharks, nobody is claiming it wasn't. They had several shark encounters that day. Once they panned the footage to Deep Blue, the rest of the footage was her. Relax people, it wasn't intended to be misleading.

Agreed Edward.. it'd be nice to see footage of the animal, instead of footage of people freaking out.. she's majestic in that "far too many teeth to be cute" way but I'd still like to hear more about how they gestate etc. Do they give birth and keep right on swimming? Do they care for their pups? Etc.

Yeah Ive seen that particular shark on other RUclips footage. The big female is pregnant for sure, impressive girth but 20 odd foot being big is not worth a “new word”. What about deep blue, similar immense girth but may be a bit bigger. The cage is only three sided, why do they do that? Isn’t it sort of defeating the purpose of a cage?

MattMzansi It's called Docufiction and the history channel is notorious for it. National Geographic is usually pretty good, but for shark week they make an exception because they're usually pretty entertaining :)

That is not a 20 footer. According to the measuring stick, It looks like a 16-17 footer. But yea.... this is a large female! Yes, she is pregnant 2:03.

Look at the caudal fin at 0:40. Clearly it is mangled. Then see 1:11 or 2:00. Caudal suddenly patched up! WTF?? Something fishy going on. And what is up with the 3-sided "cage"? A cage has bars all around in my book.

They're 2 different sharks. The broken caudal fin is a signature of a very famous female white shark named Lucy who frequents Guadalupe seasonally every year - she is instantly recognizable due to this signature injury. She is also very large at around 16-17 feet long. But she is nowhere near 20+ feet long as they are claiming this "mega" white to be - so seeing as the shark filmed in front of the reference has no broken caudal fin, and is estimated at over 20 feet - it's clear they are two different sharks and maybe they just threw in a swim-by with Lucy for added footage of a big fat female, hoping people wouldn't notice the difference.
Also, an open sided cage is not uncommon when filming or tagging these animals. Allows for better shots, and also allows for swift entry and exit of the cage.

This video shows 2 different sharks, but talks about it being one. When it swims by the open cage and the diver says “she’s about to burst”, that shark has a gash on its side behind the gills and its tail fin is damaged badly. Then the next scene as it swims by the shark decoy used for measuring, there’s no big gash and the tail fin is perfect.
Either way it’s a massive shark. Maybe it’s video from when they first discovered it, then some time later found it again with the injuries?

Might actually be some good piece of shark behavior. The editing was shit but Lucy disappeared when Deep Blue started to stick around. What’s interesting to me is there was little to no communication, no parallel swimming or comparing, no Lucy just left all of a sudden. Now the editing is shitty so the full footage might answer my question or simply Deep Blue is so huge that no shark would even try challenge her. Also only one pup will be born in end sorry to spoil it 🥲
