  • Today I wanted to tell a little prologue story to a video I have coming out later today or tomorrow. It is about my trip to Gatlinburg and how I ended up having to sit through a timeshare pitch. Plus, at the end I give a quick preview of what is coming up on the channel.
Here is the link to Aquarium video I made in Gatlinburg • Video

These people hit me and my fiancé ( accountant) with a line of lies, they shut up as soon as I was the one who mentioned I would only move on any financial decisions after speaking with my attorney and sending the paperwork. I made very clear I would not be signing any documents prior to speaking with my attorney. The look on his face was priceless 🤣

The company behind the timeshare are predators for sure. I can't believe that they actually get anyone to sign up for this. Was the Pigeon Forge timeshare people you dealt with or some other group?

I dont get why people always say they couldn’t leave or got trapped. No you aren’t, been to dozens of these stupid timeshare sales things for loads of free crap and I just walk when the time is up. Sometimes I don’t get the freebies but never been suckered into buying a useless ripoff timeshare. What I do is set my phone timer and when it goes off I give them a fifteen minute notice then second alert I give them a ten minute notice. So I go over by 25 minutes max. My standard line is “I’m sorry but you did not sell me in the allotted time and I went over said time” please provide me with what was promised…” I stand up wait at the counter or exit and that’s it. Works 90% of the time. The other 10% I just bounce.
Never give them your ID or credit card for a “deposit” they will hold those hostage. Found that out the hardway and just bounced without them then called them in stolen and got replacements.

OMG, my GF's mom hooked us up with a Westgate time share (through Wyndham) stay in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a wedding we went to. The room was great. A one bedroom with a kitchen. However, I didn't know the deal before accepting it. I didn't know it had anything to do with a timeshare scam attempt. I thought her mom got a discount from some points award thingy (we paid like $180.00 for 3 nights). Nope, we were sweated relentlessly by obvious con artists, that even thought they could control when I left the table to go outside for a smoke. After showing as much polite patience as I could muster. I had had enough. They said it would be a 2 hour presentation. Almost 4 hours later they still did not want to take their hooks out of us. The thing is, they are so transparently full of it. They should be ashamed of themselves. Ripping people off for their employer (Westgate) for a small cut of it. Please do not let yourselves be ripped off by Westgate, and their programed grifter conspirators.
I have a question. Wasn't the sales pitch so obviously BS to you? I mean, the whole presentation from start to finish was full of red flags. First and foremost they would absolutely not allow you any time to think it over and get back with them. They needed you to buy now, or the "opportunity" would be gone. They knew damn well that if anyone did any kind of review search, they had no chance to sell to you.
If I could give some advice. Once you've entertained their nonsense for the agreed upon 2 hours. At about the 1;45 minute mark. Pull your phone out and start reading some reviews out loud to them. Watch them try and slither through the onslaught of negative feedback for the last 15 minutes. It definitely has some entertainment value.
One last thing. As you finally get it through the first scammers head that you aren't biting. They bring in one, and then another sales person. Each progressively more forceful. My GF is kinda naïve. I saw those fraudsters a mile away.
    Thanks for the video.

Oh yeah, you could tell from the first few seconds it was a scam. The thing that made me the most mad was they claimed it was an open house/tour to get us to go, not a presentation, lol. I've noticed a few ticket places in Gatlinburg have now put up signs saying there is no timeshare presentation for the cheap tickets.

My husband and I had almost the exact same thing happen to us in Gatlinburg. They didn't have a deposit or anything from us, but they were holding my kids in a separate "childcare area". The second time they walked away to work on a "secret special deal", I told my husband I was going to get the kids and he should say he needed to use the bathroom and meet us outside. I swear I felt like I was planning an escape mission. I was waiting for them to refuse to give me my kids, at which point I would have called the police. That's how trapped we felt. Now I'm super cautious when people approach me with any free deals. Free is rarely truly free.

We did a timeshare presentation too at pigeon forge. We stayed at the red roof across from the Island. Paid $50 down payment for a pirate dinner show for 5 of us. Regular price is $59 each. So we got a good deal. The presentation was 90 minutes and we were never pressured to buy anything. They were very polite.

Started doing push-ups on sidewalk haha. That's me in Tennessee waiting to go into the arcade so I can play and record lol. I always try to avoid all signs of timeshare because I don't wanna waste my vacation time on that. I've gotten deals under 200 as well for a hotel. At that point I would be like give me my dang Aquarium tickets lol. Great video on timeshares. More people need to be aware of them.

This Company tried to get me to buy one of their timeshares in Gatlinburg until they told me how much the yearly maintenance fee was I was considering it. What they were charging for a yearly insurance they called it but it was basically a maintenance fee I could bring my entire family to the Mts. and stay in a very nice Hotel Two times for just one year of their Fee. The guy trying to sell it to me had gotten so belligerent that we just walked out of the interview when I told him they were ripping people off with the Maintenance fee...........They could make a Mint just giving you the Condo or Timeshare and just let you pay the Maintenance fee every year

I did the same thing in Myrtle Beach. We did get the tickets, but we got the money much later in the form of a gift card.
They also promised us a 2 night vacation. We tried to cash that in but they had so much fine print that it was impossible to redeem.
Westgate and anyone who associates with these timeshare presentations are horrible.

    • @AdventureModeTraveling

Oh man, they gave your deposit back in the form of a gift card? That is terrible. I personally think timeshares are a terrible idea and these corporations should be ashamed.

Adventure Mode Traveling thanks for the quick reply and for doing this video.
For me, I think it’s horrible because these companies show a lack of respect for these people and a huge disregard for their time while on vacation.
Especially those who are most strapped for cash. They offer tickets for your family, for an hour and a half. That’s not a bad trade off, but that quickly turns to 4 hours. Then they don’t give you half of what they promise.
I just watched a couple more videos about it and some undercover videos. It’s just a slimy industry.

    • @AdventureModeTraveling
      @AdventureModeTraveling  4 года назад +1

@@MrDavecupp I 100% agree with you, they do not respect you or your vacation at all. They just want to put people on the spot and prey on them. They use sob stories and high pressure techniques to try and lock people in on the spot to these absurd contracts. That is why I initially made the video, I love going to Gatlinburg and I go often so I wanted to let people that may plan a trip there as to what could potentionally happen while on vacation. Thank you for watching :)
