Been cutting rotors for years. Never cleaned it after resurfacing. I would blow the rotor off but never put in in a tank with soap and water. Any moisture after a cut will instantly do a surface rust on a freshly cut rotor. I use anti seize on the mating surfaces of the rotor on hub and on the brake pads on the caliper bracket. Also it's good to check how the pad slides in the caliper bracket. Sometimes you have to grind a little off the ends to have the pad float easy .. that's just me tho. Good vid.

That's actually a great tip to wash the rotor with soap and water.

Rust do not happen so fast, or else everytime you drive through a deep puddle, you need to remove and clean the brakes.

TimC,,,, that might be the inexpensive rout for a kia, but not for my 1 ton,,that pulls a heavy trailor... and I did turn my fronts and it did, stop the chatter when the brakes were applied

Im an ASE certified master technician, i dont see the need for this quick chuck waste of time, the normal cone the spring setup work perfectly fine! even with a dirty rotor, this gadgets make no sense! Your trying to re-invent the wheel.

It actually saves time and maintenance; a typical clamping cup and cone kit that enables a tech like yourself to machine hub-less drums and rotors from compact cars thru 1 ton light trucks can have as many as 33 pieces... There are various different sizes of cones and clamping cups you have to choose from. Plus you're stacking up a clamping cup, spring, cone and another cup to a adapter the rotor or drum to the arbor which is creating unwanted run-out. Take for example our Double Chuck Kit: consists of 4 different sized backing plates a double sided chuck and a key to work the jaws in and out to accommodate the many different hole sizes on drums and rotors. This Chuck Jaws eliminates all the many cones that you are currently using not to mention the various clamping cup sizes to deal with. In comparison the Double Chuck Kit 80040K has a total of 6 pieces vs. 33 pcs. for a typical Cup/Cone set. This equals less replacement cost, storage and maintenance! Plus with the Chuck Set up you're only stacking up two pieces one backing plate and the Chuck and your and your ready for the machining process. Complete the job with faster set-up time and less run out issues.

it's used to dampen the vibration. If it wasn't on there the vibration could make the arbor nut loss and then you don't get a true cut.
