I have an LS2 from 2006 GTO with this 58x harness. Swapped pin A and C on the cam connector like the instructions on this vid indicates and engine didn't idle well. Changed pins back to the way the harness came and engine idles perfect...programed ECU to 24x both times.

If you’re putting this on a 05-06 GTO LS2, don’t swap anything. Run the 58x harness and the stock 24x crank sensor with the stock 1x cam sensor, and choose 24x in the start up wizard and it’ll work. I followed this video and trouble shot for days. Then when I swapped back it had messed the pins up and I didn’t know it, which led to more trouble shooting

JackTack nailed it. I'm running a 550-928 for the 58x LS2 on my 24x/1x LS2. I swapped the A/C pins and selected 24x in the dropdown just like this video said to do. It finally started but cylinders 3 and 4 weren't firing. After a day of troubleshooting, I flipped the pins back to stock and what do you know, runs great! The only mod I needed to do was to remove the tab so the crank sensor would plug in.

I got a 2015 gen 4 vvt engine that i converted to 5.3 24x crank and 3 bolt cam with 1x cam sprocket also I put an ac delco 24x crank sensor in and according to parts catalog the gen 4 cam sensor out of 2015 express 2500 is same as gto. Is this correct? Im having all sorts of backfire and hard start issues. I did swap the pins on cam sensor like video said right when i got my term x delivered. Wish i had seen these comments before. Gonna swap the pins back and see what happens. Any input appreciated.

Happy I found this video after getting multiple different suggestions from the Holly tech service line yesterday. The people I talked to on the phone need to learn from this guy about the GTO LS2. I was told to buy the 550-929 kit for LS1/LS6. One rep said my injectors will work while the other rep said I have to go buy injector adapters. Then after watching this video I have realized that my cam position cable AND knock sensors wouldn't have reached. The miss information and confusion I got yesterday was a little disappointing. Still not sure if my GTO throttle pedal will work. I am still considering the Terminator X over HP Tuners but just hoping it all works out.

  • @Steamed_Hams

This is really confusing. Based on reading the comments, is it correct to say that a stock 2006 GTO LS2 has a 24X crank sensor and 1X cam sensor? And the correct Holley harness would be the 58X harness with NO NEED to swap the A & C cam harness pins?
If I understand what's been written in the comments, the cam pin swap is only necessary if using a 4X cam sensor. But the stock 2006 GTO LS2 cam sensor is 1X, so there is no need to swap the cam sensor pin position if using the 58X Holley harness on a stock 2006 GTO LS2?

1:30 he is holding CRANK sensors in his hand, and saying that 'their' operating voltages are different, speaking about the crank sensors?? I DONT KNOW
    because at
1:39 he puts down the CRANK sensors and randomly out of nowhere starts to talk about the cam sensors, so which is it? The crank sensors or cam sensors voltages are different?
Then, picking up the CAM harness he swaps the cam sensor plug wires, leading us to believe that the CRANK sensors are identical between 24x and 58x
ARE THEY? I DONT THINK SO

So you are saying a 58x harness will work with both 58x and 24x sensors because both sensors switch at 3v. And the 58x harness is 5v supply voltage.

@@HolleyPerformance hi. Just reading your reply but the 24t crank sensor and the 58t have different plugs. Which sensor should I use

@@jamieknight9636 You will have to use the sensor your engine is designed for. If you're using the 58x harness on a 24x engine you will have to swap the connector on the harness out for the 24x style and wire it correctly. Thx J

So my 58x harness wich is now going to power 24x ,4x I don’t need to supply 12v to crank reference? It will still work correctly with the 5v?

I have a 550-905 kit “ls2” 24x 1x motor and swapping the pins cause the cam sensor to read nothing and have the crank sensor go crazy. I swapped it back to normal and it runs just fine. So don’t listen to this guy

Yeah I’m starting to see that this video is full of shit and the folks over at Holley know just as much about their product as the clowns do over at fi-tech.

Ok, not sure what the issue is, but this is NOT true in all cases, I have a 550-010 setup, running a 24xcrank 6.0, LS9 cam, front mounted cam sensor, 1X gear. Was told to follow this video by Holley tech dept, engine would not start, only back fired, was told cam sensor was bad, $70 later(new GM) no change, numerous calls/emails got nowhere. The cam syc light would go red when you tried to start. After 3 weeks of jerking around I swapped the wires back to original position, started right up, so something screwy here.

How did you set it up in the wizard when you changed the wires back to normal, as a 58, 24, or custom in the software? Pretty sure I’m having the same exact issue right now and I’m about to swap them back to normal
