Thanks, good to get a detailed overview before i dive into this.
When installing a new "O ring on the filter I would use a little bit of fresh oil to wipe around the ring to insure it seals good . Also I would probably chock the rear wheels... you never know, can't be to safe...lol
I found this info for Torque: Oil plug 20-25 Ft/Lb, Oil Filter 18 Ft/Lb
Great Job! I have 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad AWD 3.6 Same exact except they changed mine to 5w20. I had the same problem with oil drain bolt!! Spent almost 1 1/2 hours getting the damn thing off with my rounded off and over tight bolt kit! Had to buy new drain bolt! Stupid place it was done at put that on for life!! Anyways, your the first person to do a correct oil change on this car in a video! The only thing is while your cleaning wipe your cover down lol!
Gabe Beadle thanks! Glad to hear it helped and this was the first oil change I did o. This car since I got it. It’s been cake ever since.
That saved me some guess work! Thanks for the helpful video 👍
Real great video. Thx for all this information.
Incredible video! Thx
I have a 2016 Dodge Journey that was tight just like yours..I tryed the first day ..Had to try again the second day..Had to take my foot to push the wrench..My filter is under the car..I have to go buy a filter ranch..Thanks for sharing
Thank you, sir. You're a life saver!

I like this guy
Thank you!
Thank you so muchhhh
Watching 2022.04.15...from Brasil great vídeo n explanation ... it helped me tô do it by myself and save some money... tks a lot
oil drain bolt 20 ft lbs for this veh and it is always a good idea to have a breaker bar for these times they come in very handy I worked at a jeep/dodge dealer befor becoming a hyundai tech and you have to have one a 3/8 dr and a 1/2 I torque all of my oil drain bolts at the dealer all hyundai vehs 25- 32 ft lbs
Thanks!
Thanks
Gracias por el vídeo
Thinks for the video. It was on point and help me alot. Could you do a thermostat replacement video for the Dodge Journey?
Bluefox12 Factsbeforefeelings already filmed it! Uploading next week
Aww man perfect timing. My engine stays on the cold side. Thermostat stuck open. Thinks again 👏🏾
G’day mate this is Edwin from Sydney Australia always love your Videos. Are you able to make a video on how to replace fuel filter on dodge journey please.
I would love to except I just sold it last week! I’m sorry! Glad you like the vids
@@ArchesMechanic oh no. That’s is sad to hear.
Thanks for the demo'! How long did you drain it for it?
As long as you want. I suggest 5 mins
Great help thank you! Cant believe the garage charges almost $400 for that
what?? here in Ontario its about 80 bucks full synthetic
@@moocowdad here in connecticut it about almost 300 and not even synthetic 😭😭
Cool video only thing is my Journey has a different engine so this tutorial doesn't do much for me. You should change the title to include your engine type.
Flood Forums good call. You must have the 2.4.
Did you see the bypass valve at the filter. Was yours okay. I had to order one from rock auto cause mine was heat stress. Fubar
John Fisher mine was perfect. I’m barely at 100k though
Great video! But my bolt size to drain is 5/8
Sounds like someone lost the original 😬
Is 5w-30 a preference? My book with the car said 5w-20?
Is yours the 2.4 or the 3.6? I could see the 2.4 being 5-20
Is the oil drain bolt same place on a 2010 ?
Chuy Limon should be but 09-10 are diff body styles.
on that oil filter the socket used was 15 or 16 socket
Beach City562 15/16ths
thanks
Does the oil filter change?
Yes
I swear mine is that exactly that damn tight. Shit doesn't make any sense
Is a 2010 and 2012 engine the same on that same car?
No. The 2010 has either the 2.4 or the 3.5
I'm under the assumption all dealerships use air guns on every bolt.
supergrendel exactly why I don’t take my stuff to a dealer.
the owners manual says 5.5 but thats below safe level is that why u use the whole 6
Is it 5.5 without filter?
What about an engine flush?
RLS 117 no reason for me to do it yet but when the time comes...
@@ArchesMechanic awesome, can't wait 😀😀
You forgot to add clean motor oil to the seal.
Good catch
just an fyi ,all the bolts and nut on this vehicle are metric not imperial
Jeffjeep Jeffjeep true but some crossover close enough in case an inexperienced person tried this without proper tools
you should get a torque wrench.. its much easier
Shouldn't need that
How many miles have your Journey?
69,700 now.
@@ArchesMechanic wow, mine is a 2013 I have 320,000 kms
Moo Cow it’s 90,000 miles now so that’s...145,000 kms. I don’t drive it anymore. I rent it out on Turo.
Anyone eles laugh 😂
Makes you feel good inside. Ridiculous, completely unnecessary as bd just ridiculous 🤣😂👈
Wipe that cover off
