    It looks like Emma performed admirably considering she was going up against the WTA #2. It's a positive sign for the rest of the season.

      Sabalenka in the second set made pretty much double the amount of unforced errors she made in the whole match of the Australian Open final. Yet still it goes - Raducanu still has never won a set off any Top 10 player....

    Emma is definitely showing signs of improvement but Sabi is in beast mode and her confidence is growing with every passing match.

    I understand that Sabalenka's grunt is consistent and does not appear to be an attempt to necessarily "intimidate" the opponent, but when she is screaming well into the opponent's groundstroke how is that considered legal?

    Some people were expecting Saba to wipe the floor with Emma, but this was a very encouraging match for Emma - well done! She made set 2 exciting right to the end. Congrats to Saba.

      When something is consistent it’s not distracting, it’s like white noise. She’s been on the tour for a while now and players seem fine with it, this shouldn’t still be talked about.

      I saw a few times where Emma had already returned the ball and the grunt was STILL going. She's a great player but this is beyond even what Maria Sharapova did.

      Nothing new here, that is Sabalenka. It would be interesting to hear the history of the Saba Lenka roar. When did it start, how did it sound when it first began? Has there been a match where it reached a peak, or is that yet to come?
      Anyway, long story short, it is not going to be curtailed or stopped, and every player at the other end of the court just deals with it.

      @@ReTracer Sabalenkas "grunting" is very different than 2018. Now she has more consistent way of this legal hindrance. Now its sounds more... realistic than 6years ago. But its quite clear that she extend grunts to disturb her opponents.

    Amazing that Serena Williams got a point taken because she shouted cmon after hitting a winner, but Sabalenka can scream multiple times for so long that she doesn't stop until the ball is heading back towards her, and thats apparently fair game.
    Penalize obnoxious grunting for what it is: hinderance.

    I’m from Belarus and I do follow Saba’s career , but I have to admit - that noise is obnoxious and beyond borderline distracting. She is still in the process of” expressing herself “ when the opponent is about to/ or hitting the ball back . Again - just a personal opinion. She’s obviously not caring much …lol…. Don’t “ come “ for me 😜👌

      Your point is very correct. Some people don't like to hear grunting or screaming, but she has a scream like a police siren going off into the distance and it's still going when her opponent is hitting the ball. This is not at all fair as she is being aggressive towards her opponents while they hit the ball. The WTA don't have the gumption to penalize her for it because she's one of their darlings. If she were a 500 ranked player perhaps they'd do something. It's a pity because she comes across as a nice person in interviews and obviously has a great game. Letting out air when hitting a shot helps to relax the muscles and so is justified. What is not justified is how she does it.

      She's really smart and super talented, anyone can see that, but she's not as motivated as she used to be since winning the US Open. She's got this super wealthy boyfriend and lives a really comfy life now so why would she care pushing herself to win? She'll probably get motivated again once the sponsor money starts to dry up

    More play like the second set and she will be within the top 50 by end of year! Layla had a bad year after her us open final run and has steadily made her way back into the top 40 I believe she will be close to being seeded at the French! Hard work pays off!

      @@domnicdecosta7946 Apparently a few agree with me. That's what we do here. We comment on videos. I suspect a vast number of women on the tour find this annoying to the point that it interferes with their concentration but may not feel compelled to say anything due to apprehension and the fact that she in particular has gotten away without distraction calls. Does she need to physiologically expel as she does. I doubt it.

    Emma just needs a lot of matches and to win many of them. It's an encouraging sign that she's competitive but it's what comes next that's everything. If she doesn't stay fit, or doesn't win matches, she's no further forward because of this match.

      @@richcampbell6808 she's not average but you're right that she needs to win matches against the current best. A start would be to win a lot of matches against the middle ranked players. She hasn't been able to do that largely due to injuries to be fair to her. That has to come though if ever she's to get more great results in her career.

      Hard to do when receiving fast and heavy groundstrokes. They also don't come directly to her, but away, so she has to move. Aryna isn't trying to offer easy handfeeding balls you know.

    Raducanu played very well but I don't think she'll ever have the power to overcome Sabalenka, Rabakina and others trading blows from the back of the court. I think she needs to transition gradually to a more all-court game with more variety to be competitive.

    Good match from Emma, I just hope she continues improving because her match vs Svitolina at the start of the year was also very good but after that her level went down again. I think the physical part is still the issue as she mentioned after the match vs Svitolina, she needs to be stronger and have more stamina given her style of game

      Wta highlights focus on how the match went ( break points match points comebacks ) rather than good rallies so they include double faults to show how each player got the break . Anyways these highlights are probably AI generated

    Emma should be very happy. Her movement looked great and she should take a lot of positives from the way she fought.
    Sabalenka is showing a lot of grit. She’s fittest I’ve seen and is adding more net play to her game. I still think she can improve her serve motion and once she gets there she should be the #1 player for a few years.

    Emma's shot selection sometimes really baffles me and more often than not gets herself into trouble

      Watched this match in full with all the attention on the details. Emma's shot selection was very good except for maybe a few you could count on the fingers of one hand, some of those due to the pace of the ball coming to her. She was just overwhelmed by the power of Sabalenka's shots.

    Raducanu seems to continue to struggle to gain pace and dictating points o.O. Sabalenka gifted her quite a bit in that second set and I thought they would at least go to 3 sets.

    Sabalenka is so unstable emotionally, she wins the first set quite easily, playing good tennis. Then the second set comes, she is still winning but a few unforced errors are enough to derail her, she starts getting upset and the unforced errors count skyrocket. She is lucky to have won that second set...Emma had very good opportunities to break serve but couldn't capitalize.

    Tennis: you cannot open your mouth when players still hitting the ball(to not disturb) or security is gonna kick you out of stadium
    The same time one of those 2 players can screams like 100 db and everything is all right

All the stars were aligned for her because Leylah did the hard work by defeating most of the top guns. Emma didn't had to face top 10 players and after the US open she got exposed.
