I was a ski racer (mostly slalom) and while in Jackson Hole for some FIS races in 1988, and friend and I found out this amazing couloir. We were on 2m long SL skis back then and it was amazing. I only found out 30 years later that it was the famous Corbet's Couloir. No flipping back then though :D
Jackson Hole , 1977 three high school friends , drove 2000 miles to live the dream of Big Mountain skiing.... The Grand Tetons are still my favorite range of mountains to explore, Corbett’s was scary as hell, the drop in took our breath away and just making it down and out was an accomplishment. Today these people are ripping it up like snow park. love watching them go for it and be dammed the expense. Hot Dogging was what we all lived for, got some stainless steel to remind me of that trip, but it was worth every second. 45 years of skiing/ boarding.... my parents greatest gift to me
These events show how far skiing and snowboarding have come. Not just the athletes being able to pull these tricks, but the gear as well. I remember Corbet's being a real proving ground for "extreme" skiing but now these athletes are building features to get into the couloir. THAT is insane and awesome!!! What I would now like to see is someone pulling these type of tricks off with a pair of 205s under their feet. Bring it old school. Great video!

There are videos on RUclips of non-professionals dropping into this run. Carefully carving a path inch by inch until they can get their footing - and think they’re crazy for trying! Then I come and watch this!!!!! Really does a great job of putting into perspective how insanely talented these world class skiers and snowboards are.
I remember 1987 when Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction came out...we had our Walkmans on and skiing 215 cm skis with Welcome to the Jungle on full blast and dropping in on Corbetts....I love seeing the next generations taking it next level....I miss my young knees....
Loved that first backflip by that girl, smooth and stylish in the air and then landing way down there with all that speed and almost crashing into the wall but carving away at the last second. Wooh!

Corbet's was closed the whole week we were there & that was 1 of the reasons we went...we'll be back one day. PSA: If you're not an expert or at least high intermediate, don't like steeps everywhere, don't go you won't have fun...We had a blast! The single black diamonds @ JH are dbl blacks elsewhere, the blue's are blacks elsewhere. No other resort I've been to has as much steeps, glades & cliffs that JH offers...make sure you're in great shape before you go. Mad respects to JH!!

Good to see Corbet's kind of repurposed into this. In December of 1988 I dropped in with a "stale fish" with no probs. That's when I was 17 & then Corbet's became boring. So I'm glad to see this event, cheers!

I didn't understand who won? who were their names ? are they from JH ? that is insane, i thought noticed boulders on the bottom of the jump, how do they cover the rock with a cushion enough to withstand the impact?
reminds me of the time i was there, they do these tricks with such certainty, i was dead set on hitting a backflip off the top and as soon as i saw the drop, i couldn't bring myself to do it, i ended up just jumping from the top and landing 40 feet down
Even if it was during covid, if no one cares about getting it, then they should be allowed to get together. If someone doesn't want to get it, they don't have to go out.

All expert terrain was closed when I was there in December. 100% roped off. Sweet.
