Hey man loved the tutorial! Just a tip - when making monophonic sounds like basses or leads, it's typically better to have the unison set to an odd number (i.e. 15 instead of 16) in order to have a clearer fundamental frequency, and let 100% of the harmonics come from the detuned unison signals instead of having two main signals with the detunes on the side. Super minor but helps with mixing :)
very cool video - got me going with serum! - One thing that 'stumped' me, How come I don't have 'classic synths' category as an option in the wavetables list? (14:50) in your video.
Damn!! I was thinking about learning some sound design but was too lazy to do it when i could use presets from you, ultrasonic, stickz and bunch of others. I did learn some epic sound design today...Thanks
quick tip: Turning the random phasing off when making stabbier basses can help a lot with alignment/phase issues with the kick, especially for 4x4 genres. Nice job! Good intro video for those new to serum.
This was a good vid. Editing spot on. Keeping it short, sweet and to the point. Learned a lot here than any other sound design tutorial. Earned a sub. Keep up the good work and definitely would like to see more of these insights into your thought process. It really helps. Thanks again!
The RDR2 backing soundtrack goes perfectly with the wheels turning in my dumb brain realizing how intuitive Serum is after being completely clueless for a few months now trying to work with it. This is an absolutely genius video
@@Synthanicmusic depends on what genre you would like to make tho. Especially if you suck at sound design. And supersaws aren't the only things used in music.
13:31 not only did you change the wave tables but you also added more automation to the matrix tab and the FM from B knob, could you go over what you did there? very informational vid
These were small tweaks to things that were already there. I switched the master tune for example to start lower in pitch instead of starting higher in pitch to create a slitghtly different attack :)
Hey man, dope stuff It was so good and useful that, could you do a part 2? lol With like leads now and plucks and maybe even include "making a sound" in a normal production video
this video is going into the bank brother. Very well put together and informative. I love how you put the video together as well. Fun, yet professional. I am now subscribed from watching you for the first time. Keep doing the good works brother!
This was really one of the best and funniest tutorials on Serum. Funny because you revealed the condition of your sock and the odd way of drinking coffee or if it was water.😊
you did a really good job describing it i feel like this way of teaching can be very benificial because some are very detatched from the initial perspective but this is a really good video.
Really good video ! Made me wanna try sound design :) Would be cool if you also did one a sound design video on different types of leads (or different types of sounds from different genres)
I have a issue/question that ive been having trouble solving. In FL Studio, when I export the audio, it sounds fine in FL Studio. But when I export the audio into an MP4, the snares and claps sound almost like distorted clanking glass. I've been trying to fix it and nothing has helped. How do i fix this? 🙁
Are you exporting into mp4/video format or do you mean mp3? You can change the quality of the export in many ways with mp3 so I would go to Google and see if it could be your export settings
At 14:51 you change the osc 1 sound and select from a folder named ‘classic synths’. Where did that folder come from as I don’t have that in my version of Serum? Is it a download (add-on)? Great video btw - I’ve learnt so much from it so thank you.
Do you have any tips for enhancing vocals when recording and importing them into FL Studio to achieve a polished sound? Are there any recommended plugins for tasks such as autotune, pitch correction, and overall vocal enhancement? For instance, when I sang using Garageband on my phone, I found a feature that added a stage-like quality to my voice, giving it a professional singer's touch.
9:43 when i put the blue circle to Env ->Fil Cutoff: 100, with the cutoff all the way down just like you have it the blue circle only goes half way even tho its on "100". Is this a known bug???
I found this video to be useful for learning how to make some of those 'Bread & Butter' kinds of sounds that are very common, and thats primarily what I want to learn how to do now. I already have a copy of SERUM which I got from Renting to now Owning from Splice and I'm comfortable enough with pretty much any Synth, including my MODAL Cobatlt5S Hardware synth when I don't want a computer screen with DAW distracting me. Thanks man!!
I think it's great that pewdiepie is making synth tutorials now!
Yeah, but.. he looks like MHA, it's like his Doppelganger
lmao this made me go and search if pewdiepie really does 🤣
He doesn't even look like him.
It only took me 5 seconds of watching this video to go the the comments and look for this comment

yo this comment is literal gold, thank you
@@mikebell4396 share some gold bro, mine wasn't literal gold
It depends on your intentions. I saw David Guetta using 16 unisons for basses
You're the reason i go down to the comment section after watching a guide, there is so much gold advices sometimes

Probably solved, but I guess those are some imported wavetables not included in Serum, you can load presets and several stuff into Serum.

Awesome man!!
This helped a lot cuz im working on a Vital preset pack.
LOL me to!
I was playing around with serum today and i figured out how to make decent basses but not really taking it too seriously at the moment
