I WAS LIKE BRUHH THAT'S JUST A PROP FOR THE DAMN STORYLINE.
So, this was the week that they chose a song from another group to perform. Rhythm Ta is originally an iKon song. Hongjoong took a classical music spin to pretty much every track that they performed. They also carried their pirate lore into Kingdom. So that's why you see that hourglass make another appearance. They also used inspiration from a show/movie called La Casa de Papel aka Money Heist, for the stage. ATEEZ pulled from all over - but they do talk about their inspirations for taking the routes they do in the show itself. If I'm not mistaken they did win the week theme with this performance. But, it definitely starts to amp up for everybody this week on out. iKon actually covered ATEEZ's Inception in return. The spin and surprise of folks covering other groups songs makes that week the best for me. BToB covered SKZ's Back Door and SKZ covered BToB's I'll be your man - and reminded folks of the vocal powerhouse that they are. Can't wait to see you go through the rest of the performances!
Okay, so I'm new to the fandom, though when I first saw kingdom a few months ago they instantly caught my attention even though I was only watching for SKZ since I was also new to Kpop. ALSO, I noticed their storyline when watching as well- next thing you know I'm discovering more and more abt them. But now looking back to this performance... is that not Guerrilla?? Like when the leader comes out to tell his speech- I'm still learning their names pls. But the way I was so shocked🧍
@@aribldrs032 You are absolutely correct! :D When Hongjoong comes out on the platform, giving his speech, when the blimps are releasing the fliers. Guerrilla is literally the culmination of ATEEZ bringing their lore to Kingdom. If you watch the ATZ performances in order? You'll see the story unfold. I would suggest watching some ateez lore videos, that read out or plot the story of ateez and the alternate universe. Guerilla takes places in Strictland! I believe everyone was/is super hyped for the direction. Guerrilla starts a new era and new part of the lore. Welcome to the Ship!

I wanna be able to follow along with what’s next- I watched an interview not long ago that also came out a few months ago and they explained their whole storyline. Talking abt their albums and how you see this and that in them- I was amazed tbh. But someone did recommend I start with their pre debut vids which I’ve watched and now I’m watching Code Name and told me what to watch after that. ATEEZ was participating in Kingdom Legendary War while promoting for Fireworks + KDrama filming [Imitation] for 4 of the members. I mention this because they incorporated their theme into all of their Kingdom performance. This performance was a prequel to the Symphony 9 Wonderland performance. At the end of this one, Halateez Hongjoong steals the hourglass as the intro music for their Wonderland performance plays. At the beginning of the Wonderland performance, we see Hongjoong at the captain's desk with the hourglass. SF9 had a member that broke glass too, but he wore gloves. Their maknae razzed him and told him he should have broken the glass without wearing gloves like Hongjoong did.
The original song is hip hop, so ATEEZ changed it to match their style. Ikon was impressed. Their leader said something like, This isn't our song, this is ATEEZ"s Rhythm Ta (BTW, Ikon turned ATEEZ'S Inception into a hip hop song). The whispers and low pitch complimented the story since they were breaking into a safe and in general being anarchists--their government banned music, but they were encouraging everyone to dance to the rhythm (Rhythm Ta).
I wasn’t a big ATEEZ Stan back when this show was on but I am a HUGE Stan now. I knew there was something about that red haired guy ( Seonghwa) 🤣who is now my bias. I love all of their performances on Kingdom. Love watching your reaction videos ❤️

I had to check to make sure I didn’t write this comment. 😂 Red-haired, slightly manic Seonghwa was the tipping point into becoming a huge Ateez fan.
The actual song is called Rythme Ta by IKON (another group who was competing with ATEEZ, stray kids, BtoB...in kingdom) and in one of the episodes/challenges (I think) each group had to do a remakes to another group's song and make it fit their style, so ATEEZ did this song and made it fits their own style which I love 💕 + Jonho's vocals abilities never disappoint us 🥰
+ I'm not too sure about what I said 100% cause I didn't watch kingdom yet but what I've heard from my fellow Atinys, So please correct me if I said something wrong ☺️🧡

THE one thing I would add is that Ateez KNOWS how to OWN a song - just look at how many times they have been invited back to preform on Immortal Songs (4× and counting) PLUS Hong Joong's covers (David Bowie, Prince, Michael Jackson and L.P.) and their "Leave the Door Open" cover.

This was my favorite of Ateez's Kingdom performances. The references and concept are so clever and well articulated and the aesthetic and dynamcis are wonderful.
Also breaking the glass and stealing the hourglass (cromer) is part of their storyline and they incorporated it into this performance
the arrangment is made by EDENARY (Ateez company producers), they used a lot of classic music, and old ateez songs/beats during Kingdom but they also incoporate a lot of new ones. this time the song they rearreaged is by the kpop group Ikon -their version and Ateez version sound REALLY different tho-
and they were whispering because they're trying to get in the museum and rob something (kinda like a "don't be suspicious"), so when they are inside and then escaping they are finally more loud
i reminded now, the classic song they used on this performance was Summer by Vivaldi (fun fact: that's why the performance was called ‘The Awakening of Summer’)
I really hope you watch the behinds for each stage. (Especially the collab one’s It’s One’s rap unit and Myfly’s dance unit had so much chemistry. ^^ )

That was such a terrible time because every week people were spreading lies about Ateez so that no one outside Atiny would vote for them as this competition was Professional judges AND fan votes. Furthermore lip sync was allowed but Ateez don't go out like that. They've been singing live since debut. Ateez got rated number 1 by judges on several of their kingdom stages yet small k-blog platforms printed an article about a group going over budget and said it was Ateez with no proof. That tweet got thousands of likes and shares by all kinds of fandoms. Ateez didn't go over budget but this was the level of desperation to lie on them. Then they claimed that Ateez was under the sponsors of the show thus saying it was rigged. Another lie yet several fandoms got together to do a template for the claim that Ateez went over budget to send to MNET demanding Ateez number one ranking by the judges be voided and shared to the other groups in Kingdom. Ateez also had a comeback at the same time so imagine how tired they were. Filming 30 hours for Kingdom on a day then having to go with no sleep and perform on the music shows for their comeback. Ateez still ate their axxes up on that crap show.

Watching you lose your mind over Hongjoong punching open the glass box is SO GODDAMN FUNNY AHA! What a hilarious ending to an incredible performance.
Jongho's voice was insane throughout the whole competition. Athough it's not my favorite Ateez performance on Kingdom, they all did amazing as expected.
So, every episode had different missions, this one was pairing with another group and covering aeach other's song (Ateez did Ikon and Ikon did Ateez). The arrangements are usually done by the producers at their company and/or the members themselves. The goal was remaking the song to fit their style and make it seem different from the original.
4:44 if you haven't listen to latin music mixed with kpop yet, you need to listen to KARD, they do it all the time. You may actually like them, they're super easygoing and they have great bops.
And still on the topic of latin music, during Kingdom, The Boyz covered SF9's song and they mixed with tango too (although it was more like a Moulin Rouge kind of vibe than proper tango).

Ateez are the kings of remastering songs to suit them and their style, and are the kings of cover songs. You need to check out The Black Cat Nero, which is a cover song of an Italian song. I love this song so much
There are tons of Latin soundtracks in K-pop songs. There is a group called Super Junior, and I love their song. One More Time (Otra Vez). There are a lot of kpop songs that have latin vibes.
You would actually have to start watching *"Road to Kingdom"* first since thats like the first season
and they choose wich groups are making it to *"Kingdom"* there 🤗
and the show is not just performances but alot of interactions between the different groups +games +preparation footages!
So it's actually a really fun 'variety' (survival?) like show🙌

I am actually rewatching Kingdom: Legendary War now. Apart from the performances which are next level, I really like the interactions between the artists. I really recommend watching the whole competition - if not in a reaction video- maybe in your own time. I always like your reactions, you are very genuine!

I get goosebumps when Hongjoong does the speech towards the end. Halateez Hongjoong stole the Cromer, it ties into their storyline. Jongho slays the vocal notes.
The song is from Ikon, but Ateez remixed it. I honestly thought they should've chose Ikon's Bling Bling.

My sentiments exactly! I think Ateez should have won. There's no one that can top their passion or stage presence in the 4th generation groups. I get goosebumps watching them! They come from a small company and did not have the exposure that some of the ones from the Big 3 have. They were also the rookies. They are getting more exposure day by day. It won't be too long before they will get the respect they deserve. Have a great day.

I agree with you and have always thought Ateez won Kingdom. It's obvious. But folks like Stray Kids and there are a lot of Staytinys, so some of us just smiled and politely clapped when SKZ won knowing good and hell well Ateez was better. The teams that participated knew it. (Have you watched the video "How is Ateez Seen in Kingdom"?) That's why they stopped voting for ATZ. There was a point when ATZ knew they were not going to be allowed to win. So they just performed for Atiny. What was up? Why the loss? Could be lots of things. Jealously or the fact that Ateez was the youngest group. About this time, multiple members of the group were in a KDrama. Really? The team had won Immortal Song at least once -- maybe twice. (UnFREAKing heard of for an idol group. They've since won twice more!). They were big internationally (sometimes that can work against you in Korea). I think the groups in Kingdom checked out Ateez, as ATZ was kinda unknown to them, and were shocked at how much product ATZ had already put out. I think it was seven albums at that time. SEVEN ALBUMS IN THREE YEARS FROM A BAND ON A DINKY LABEL LIKE KQ??? Might have been shocked how many times a three year old group had been abroad (LA for training and then KCON, a US tour four months after debut, Australia, Japan for KCON, Europe for tour and video/content shoots)! Heck they shot their first two videos in AFRICA!!! A desert in AFRICA!!! (Good on 'em!) There's a lot about how Ateez hits different that other bands -- especially those competing against them -- could find annoying. Dare I say threatening? Those things might make the competitors/judges want to practice some soft sabotage and then maybe a bit of schadenfreude. Ateez was so bold and so gifted on that show, that the other groups had to up their game as well as hold Ateez back for a chance at victory; Stray Kids accomplished this the best. It's like watching a pageant and wanting the prettiest girl to lose because she's the prettiest girl.
It’s hard for Ateez to win cause after winning twice in a row it’s only normal that all other groups will vote them down. It’s basic survival tactics. Stray Kids were more or less stable in the middle plus they have a huge fandom so it counts well to their final score. I am Atiny through and through but I can see that the system is made that way and I won’t complain. Stray Kids also honestly totally deliver the Dead Pool stage so I’m happy they won :) that said, so many reports came later on how MNET mistreated Ateez a lot soooo yeah that’s another story…
Atinys worked their a$$ off voting and Stre8ming.
The criteria in voting for 3 groups was so wrong too. In the end it really came down to the size of the fandom and voting strategies. To me Ateez gave the best and most creative perfs.
The boys went thru so much at that time that Hongjoong only watched their KD perf like twice since then.
They didn’t get sleep yet it was amazing they had so much energy to show us. The Real was a happy ending perf (most ppl felt it would have been a cb song and was wasted on KD) It was a rough time for them.
In the end Jongho throw the crown away in Answer and Hongjoong took vacation and went to play tennis.

Thank you for watching Ateez kingdom. This literally so fire. That cover is the reason of why I'm atiny now. The moment when kingdom just begin, I just watch it because Skz, btob and ikon. But after all kingdom eps watched I'm fallin love Ateez and i like The boyz performances and I like listening to SF9. Honestly I don't like mnet but this Boys literally dope they killed that. And they're hard-working, funny and kind.

yeah they sample exising beats too, like this performance was inspired by money heist (thus the whole robing the safe and money raining down stuff going on) so hongjoong and edenary (their production team) sampled latin music.

I'm not sure if you'd be interested or not, but ateez did a behind the scenes for each performance on their channel. They're quite interesting as you see how the performance came together, how hard they were working (especially for the wonderland one) and some cute funny moments

Samples are actual songs but they changed it alot to match their own concepts and styles. THE WHOLE HOURGLASS thing is a ATEEZ concept so we fans understand what's going on.

Rythym ta was about Hala-teez stealing the Chromer(hourglass) from the goverment and starting a revolution, cause freedom, feelings and arts can't be banned

Btw. The assignment was to cover an old song. The song atz chose is rhythm Ta by Ikon. The creative side is atz redoing it with the concept base on A Spanish drama The Money Heist.
The beats are mostly made by them in kq but there are times where idols do use other samples

4:47 bro there are quite many kpop songs with Latin and Spanish treatment in it for example Lo Siento by SUJU and O Sole Mio By SF9 which if i remember correctly, TBZ performed it in the same segment
they used sugar glass for the box of glass! its used in movie sets instead of using normal glass, which can be expensive and also be dangerous. sugar glass can cause cuts like any sharp thing can, but it shatters much more easily. joongie was fine ^^
For this part, all the groups changed their songs with the songs of other groups and Ateez requested IKON's songs, this song is IKON's Rhythm Ta song. It will be more fun if you watch all 10 episodes from the beginning. I think Kingdom is more fun tahn iland to watch because groups are so funny
They deserve to win this competition. sorry for the fan of S.K but Ateez for a trainee group did the greatest job, and most original ideas. the classical music is a touch that makes their songs, or cover even better. this Rhythm Ta is better than the original, and the idea from money heist is ten foot higher than the others!

Pause! Before you mention anything about Money Heist, if you do, let me tell you the van and them going out in masks, explosion included and stuff... all that entrance is kinda like a tribute to Block B - Very Good MV (their seniors)
In Ateez alternative world(Hala-teez world) arts were banned by goverment, so Hala-teez(anarchist) started a revolution against monarchy (explained in Ateez diary albums), this performance happened a week after Wonderland Kingdom performance, but the end of Rythym ta is the beguining of Wonderland, so they played with us😂 and use their storyline in all performances
I know this might not make much sense, but this isn't Ateez. This is *Halateez.* Also San was doing this entire performance with a strained/pulled muscle or a pinched nerve.
Also, Latin influences have been in Kpop for a while. (SJ's Lo Siento and One More TIme; half of KARD's songs have a Latin influence) Hongjoong based this performance on La Casa de Papiel (or Money Heist) which is why he added in the Latin influences into his rap part.
I'll tell you right off also that each group has its own distinct 'flavor' and style. When you get to BTOB... they're known for their ballads and their incredible live singing. SKZ covered their song I'll Be Your Man, which is notoriously difficult for the harmony going over the rap in the last part and for its high notes. (Even BTOB didn't want to do the song lol but it also makes sense bc they still had 2 vocalists in the army when Kingdom was being filmed, even if they could have rearranged the song to account for that.)
