glad to see you enjoying some Tsai and Jia this year, your love of Lily Chou-Chou is infectious and makes me want to give it another shot. despite feeling nonplussed about it in high school I fell in love with its soundtrack, still tops my wrapped each year in some capacity lmao
'evil nostalgia' is such a good fucking phrase, and it's something i love in the stories i read or watch😭 i hope you get to watch a lot of beautiful, moving movies this year pato
my favorite time of the year!!! seeing films that have shaped the way i see the world on this list makes me so giddy because some of these are ones i wish i could experience for the first time over (Phantom Thread, Columbus, Phantom Thread, etc). always love your keen and curious eye on the world and the way it moves through cinema. to many more wonderful watches in 2025 for you
Thank you for reminding me to finally watch all about lily chou Chou this year! Been talking about watching this movie for the better part of two years.
lily chou chou gave me that same feeling after watching it, i recently read less than zero and it's been on my mind since they have a similar flavor of coming of age... i had watched movies daily for a couple of weeks but once i watched lily chou chou it broke my streak with how deeply it affected me :') it's nice to hear your thoughts on aftersun, i've avoided watching it worrying it would have a kind of lily chou chou post-watch spiral effect
I recently discovered your channel and I feel like your taste in music and movies is similar to mine😂, and that makes me really happy!! Btw, I’m a Japanese woman, and I was deeply influenced by the world of All About Lily Chou-Chou during my teenage years. Have you watched any other films by Shunji Iwai?
