I like this a lot, I feel like I'm just listening to my friend who's super into movies. And despite not being a huge movie person myself, I love when people ramble about their interests.
Hearing Evil Pinely talk about movies makes me really want to watch movies with Evil Pinely. Wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near Pinely though. The vibes of that guy are off
Thanks for sharing the movie A real pain. I'm a Pole and I've heard nothing about it (mostly my ignorance, I don't pay much attention movie releases, more of a show person), but I watched it because of you and it's absolutely amazing. It made me cry multiple times and it showed a perspective I've never really had. To anyone reading it, I very strongly recommend it.
I think Sonic 3 deserves higher personally. I love how it doesn’t take itself seriously very much but when it does, it’s done so beautifully. I think it transitions from a silly hedgehog movie to a heartfelt movie about grief and how it affects people differently really well
Never have I ever gotten so many good movie recommendations, it's mind-blowing! Special thanks for the timestamps so I could find the next movie I'll be watching as soon as I'm done with a previous one :))
Oh man, I just fell asleep defending that movie to someone who fell asleep during that movie. I'm probably not the best person to defend the legendary Hayao Miyazaki. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It was actually quite a thought provoking and relaxing experience to me, watching it in the theatre, so I get why someone can doze off during it lmaoo. It's def paced much slower than most modern day films
It's way too slow and boring in the first half. Like if Spirited Away spent the first half not being spirited away. So Pom Poko's still the best Ghibli movie.
19:00 coming out on stage and just posting up for a sec silently then leaving sounds just like Sebastian Stan tbh, love that you both got to share that experience together
Wicked is just kicking off a mainstream introduction of Once Upon a Time It would be nice to have a cinematic universe that does things differently than Marvel tbh I’m here for it
if you're interested in a breakdown of how netflix ruined the narrative of uglies to the point of incoherence, art at midnight made a great video about it! the books are also really good. at this point, i can't say i'm surprised whenever a YA series gets bastardized through adaption :')
The Wild Robot is such a great book that I was too nervous to watch the movie version, but after hearing you thought it was good I’m more excited to see it myself.
I love watching this video knowing I've never watched most of these movies and probably won't, but I'll keep this list in mind the next time I want to watch a new movie
I loved it!!! Also I was looking for something to watch while I get ready to go to a pop-up random Suboxone appointment (not very fun). Lol. Anyway, It was perfect timing! Watching your stuff always puts me in a good mood. Thx! 💗 (Also, you are very handsome.)
Added a bunch of movies to my watchlist! Im not very connected on social media, so Im really not up to date on all the great new movies that have come out. This was a great way for me to find somethings to watch! I was running out of movies I wanted to see with my dad. Hopefully the ones you've recommended can trick him into thinking I have good taste
Letterboxd has genuinely helped me a lot as I branch out into new films and genres, keeping track of them makes me feel accomplished, and I hope they add tv shows soon, it’s really so much fun for anyone, but especially film students and anyone looking for some motivation or funny reviews. Ooh and I ended up watching 135 this year, most in October and December lol.
Dude I am with you all the way on the Dune take. I remember watching this movie with my dad when I was a child. So for me these Dune movies are nostalgic plus they are really well made. So there’s like multiple levels to my love of these movies.
Hi, if you liked the substance so much I really reccomend checking out "Suspiria" (the most recent one). As a huge horror fan, I feel like ,,The Substance" less establishes a new genre and more leanes into an older, already established horror niche - wchich is also filled in my opinion by movies like Suspiria or Videodrom - so I cannot encourage you enough to get into the topic more if u feel like thats ur vibe! Also, love your videos, have a nice day!!!
I finally watched Suspiria this year and I liked it! I feel like I remember people being pretty negative about it when it first came out, but maybe it was the absolutely bonkers ending lmao, but I was having a great time. now I need to watch the original, too
4:53 i read the books when i was in primary school and from what i remember it does make a lot more sense. they cut loads of things out and simplified a lot for the movie which was a really stupid decision for people that’s being introduced to the world that way. they also elaborated more in the sequels.
i seen both villenueve dune movies twice in theaters and the most remarkable thing about them is having that feeling of "ok i'm about to sit down again for a 3 hour movie that i just saw last week" and instead of your brain responding with a feeling of dread or boredom it just goes yay yippee 🤗
not to one up you but i watched 200 movies this year. i say this more to harp on the fact that i like this video and im glad you made it bc we watched a lot of the same movies and agree! and i like hearing your thoughts! good day sir!
"It's a Wonderful Life" is such a great Christmas classic, and while growing up it always felt really old-timey for old people, this year it really hit as something applicable to our world today. Idk about the rest of y'all, but old man Potter feels realer than ever and we're in desperate need of sincerity and community
Oh my god I’ve never seen someone talk about Disaster Movie, I watched it as a kid and the chipmunks scene traumatized me so bad that I had to sleep with my door open and the hallway light on for YEARS 😭
ive recently watched some incredibly ungrounded movies and even though they wouldnt be very realistic they where still very good and the lack of realism was in some ways the best part
I hope this video does well cos i actually really enjoyed it. I get to remember films and i watched and discover ones that i want/wanted to. Super fun hearing your opinions too, cos even if you can't elaborate why, i understand the vibes (i also struggle similarly lmao)
My buddy and I wen to see Megalopolis in an empty theater while belligerently high. I am convinced it's the only proper way to see that movie. I felt like the whole chaotic mess was a similar experience to 2019 Cats.
talk about watching older movies way later, I finally saw the omen in 2024. like, THE Omen. I was worried it wouldn't hold up after so long but that movie is still freaking scary?? to me, anyway (i saw The First Omen, too, which is very confusing to say in this context. I also liked that one)
It's a Wonderful Life is definitely worth another go; one of those films which demonstrates that a good truly story outlasts time. feel the same about 12 Angry Men
seems like you missed its whats inside, which is a huge shame. i caught it on netflix with no prior knowledge and it blew my mind, such a fun film and def worth a watch
Ok guys, just go with me for a second, is The Substance not *kinda* the same movie as The Nutty Professor? Like, obviously not literally the same movie but also... kinda literally the same movie
@ THANK YOU!! Lol I’m not trying to say The Substance stole the idea or anything it’s just when you line the two movies up they have a surprising amount in common given how different the movies are
honestly i would rate sonic 3 like a 2 million but there's not enough stars on the counter to give sonic all the recognition it deserves. but other than that this is a top tier movie list i trust
from 15:11 is this a persona 5 royal soundtrack in the background? I was listening to this video half asleep and I woke up in cold sweat confused if I was playing p5R in my dream lol can someone confirm or am I going insane
Sunshine revival!!! Rah!!! Ive been a fan for ages lmfao people think its corny in comparison to other scifi because of The Spoilerrr but its literally fine.

Nice, I'll be coming back to this. Haven't seen a ton of movies this last year and it felt like there just weren't a ton of good new ones until now
Thank you!!
I love you arisnewton. You saved me
45 minutes of Evil Pinely talking about movies is EXACTLY what I needed tonight.
SHIA LABUTT IS THE BEST THING TO COME OUT OF THIS VIDEO

Hearing Evil Pinely talk about movies makes me really want to watch movies with Evil Pinely. Wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near Pinely though. The vibes of that guy are off
this looks like its going to be a good before sleep time video
i know rightttt
I love how you described Megalopolis as "stressful". Hit the nail right on the head 😂
can't believe Pinely is morbphobic
Honestly, it's his fault, here. Why did he decide to watch it?
"that's life I guess, a big unsatisfying thing" is too real man 😔
Thanks for sharing the movie A real pain.
I saw it with my partner on a whim, and we loved it. Kieran Caulkin especially was amazing to watch.
this video is exactly what i do in my head like every other week
I think Sonic 3 deserves higher personally. I love how it doesn’t take itself seriously very much but when it does, it’s done so beautifully. I think it transitions from a silly hedgehog movie to a heartfelt movie about grief and how it affects people differently really well
It’s not a 2024 movie, but Everything Everywhere All at Once is such a good movie if you’re into it! 😊 Keep up the excellent work 👍
god that movie made me cry so much, yes please watch it
Entering my movie watching era, so many thanks for the recs!!
Omg me too, I love that for us bestie
Never have I ever gotten so many good movie recommendations, it's mind-blowing! Special thanks for the timestamps so I could find the next movie I'll be watching as soon as I'm done with a previous one :))

i was so disappointed by the boy and the heron tbh i never finished it bahdgas

Wicked is just kicking off a mainstream introduction of Once Upon a Time
It would be nice to have a cinematic universe that does things differently than Marvel tbh I’m here for it
Hopefully they don't follow the storyline or family tree of Once Upon a Time. I don't think people would be ready for that

This was actually so interesting to watch I love seeing how my opinions might differ, but I found myself agreeing with a lot of what you were saying
Added a bunch of movies to my watchlist! Im not very connected on social media, so Im really not up to date on all the great new movies that have come out. This was a great video. I may not have gotten the special deition Tomba re-release for PC i wanted for christmas, but this was just as good. 🙂
5:29 Yellow Tail, the go-to cheap wine of Australia 🙌🏻
as an american, my genuine thanks to australia for such a good-enough cheap wine🦘
@ it’s heartwarming to see the Tail escape the cheapo rack at the local bottle-o and make it overseas
Caught myself agreeing with you on the movies I have already watched, so very interested in watching others you liked.

Sunshine is amazing! I also watched it recently and with actual development in cosmos and sun right now, it all is so on topica
omg yes the demon designs in Hellboy (2019) were sooooooooo good. I was so upset that they only showed up from for a few minutes at the end

Take a shot every time Pinely says “phenomenal” 💀
huge fan of movies, lists and evil pinely so you've found ur target audience here
i feel like a big fan bc i loved this video so much
dude no way are you playing music from to shiver the sky in the background!!! i performed to shiver the sky with an opera group in my state
barely watched any movies in 2024 so im going to use this video as a guide for what to watch thanks evil pinely
Damn, it would have been awesome to hear your ratings for The Boy and the Heron, and Evil Does Not Exist
Oooooo! I want a lil naked gold Pinely statue! That would make my year 😂
gladiator is so goood 😭😭😭😭 heart wrenching and powerful bro i would love to watch it in theater
Oh my god I’ve never seen someone talk about Disaster Movie, I watched it as a kid and the chipmunks scene traumatized me so bad that I had to sleep with my door open and the hallway light on for YEARS 😭
I misread the title as you watching all of Saw last year lol. I actually did that myself tho. Highly recommend lol
Conclave was easily my movie of the year and i didnt expect it so late in the year but it was just amazing
I think Evil Pinely's fav word is "phenomenal"
One star for Morbius huh? Maybe try watching it 5 times in a row😤
low key using clips of this video to get friends to watch movies. Thanks
ive recently watched some incredibly ungrounded movies and even though they wouldnt be very realistic they where still very good and the lack of realism was in some ways the best part

Am a big fan of getting more pinely/orr lore :)
My buddy and I wen to see Megalopolis in an empty theater while belligerently high. I am convinced it's the only proper way to see that movie. I felt like the whole chaotic mess was a similar experience to 2019 Cats.

The Boy and The Heron is so good but gah damn the first third drags it's fucking feet
I finally watched the substance a couple of days ago, and god it was a bad time to take insulin shots
Have you seen We live in time? I thought it was amazing all around! Would love to know what you'll think of it
It's a Wonderful Life is definitely worth another go; one of those films which demonstrates that a good truly story outlasts time. feel the same about 12 Angry Men
needed a video to watch
seems like you missed its whats inside, which is a huge shame. i caught it on netflix with no prior knowledge and it blew my mind, such a fun film and def worth a watch
i dont feel so bad about falling asleep during the boy and the heron
AMAZING THANK YOU EVIL PINELY THEY SHOULD CALL YOU GOOD PINELY

Ok guys, just go with me for a second, is The Substance not *kinda* the same movie as The Nutty Professor? Like, obviously not literally the same movie but also... kinda literally the same movie
What a blast from the past! Loved the Nutty Professor, basically the og comedy version of it. I see what you’re saying lol
@ THANK YOU!! Lol I’m not trying to say The Substance stole the idea or anything it’s just when you line the two movies up they have a surprising amount in common given how different the movies are
This one was for the real Evil Pinely heads!
Good opinions pinely we are all so proud
You didn't get to see Look Back? I genuinely think that would really resonate with you. Give it a chance if you can!!
honestly i would rate sonic 3 like a 2 million but there's not enough stars on the counter to give sonic all the recognition it deserves. but other than that this is a top tier movie list i trust
from 15:11 is this a persona 5 royal soundtrack in the background? I was listening to this video half asleep and I woke up in cold sweat confused if I was playing p5R in my dream lol can someone confirm or am I going insane

It comes out in February

I wonder if I'll invite pinely to my birthday party since he's an influencer will he come
It feels criminal to be this early
What's your letterboxd profile? I'd love to follow it
Sunshine revival!!! Rah!!! Ive been a fan for ages lmfao people think its corny in comparison to other scifi because of The Spoilerrr but its literally fine.
absolutely diabolical to use overwatch music and making me flash back to 2016. wild
Very good vid ^^
Pinely I watched disaster movie a while ago. I'm sorry for your loss. I watch a lot of bad movies and I can confidently say that Disaster Movie is a cinematic crime against humanity.
Anyways if you want some turd tier movies to watch in 2025 here's a short list:
AI 187.
Infinitum Subject Unknown
Division 19
Robot Apocalypse (This one is just low budget, its actually not that bad)

What’s your Letterboxd
Do this next year pls
Man oh man I LOVE films
4:36 i think the reason everyone is made pretty is to...prevent wars? the world got as bad as it did because of war, and if everyone is perfect then theres nothing to be jealous or envious about in that regard. totally disregards all the OTHER reasons why war happens but i think thaats the surface level reasoning. coming from someone who has never read the books or watched the movie, ive just seen a lot of commentary videos on it from ppl who HAVE done those things.
How evil of evil pinely to add penguin to his movies to make it 100 "movies"
Lava Snail was robbed! 5 out of 5 stars
Now make one for every movie you watched in 2004
