    This is one of the more realistic videos out there when it comes to removing the paint. Its harder than most other videos make it seem. I have stripped a few frames myself and they all took multiple applications of paint stripper along with other methods. Good job though! A proper restoration.

      Use a propane torch and a wire brush. Much faster than a wire wheel

    Love your work. Would have done the same process strip, acid tube. Neutralise and dry, with thinners to clean, and then primer. To full job.👍

    Thanks for the vid. I just wanted to take the design and original paint off of my frame. I didn't like it to much but the bike and frame itself was pretty good, and it was on sale.

    I basically just did the same exact thing with an elite BMX frame I took it down to bare metal but use a quick strip it's an aerosol can it's not as tedious as brushing it on you spray it on and it wipes right clean straight down to bare metal no problem I then also shot it with a two-part epoxy primer and then shot it with a base coat of voodoo blue Toyota I had it mixed up custom for this bike I did four coats of base coat and then I used four coats of clear coat but it was a 2K 2-part clear coat all of it automotive grade really an Overkill but turned out fabulous

    Where could I find out what Bmx frame I have with a serial number ?

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  2 года назад

      It can be really tough for some frames. BMXmuseum.com is a great source, also join some of the Facebook BMX pages and ask other members. Lots of knowledgable people in those groups. For older frames join the mid school box pages, and ion its really old join the vintage box pages. I had pretty good luck there. Also type the serial number and BMX frame into google, sometimes you get lucky and find someone else on some forum who identified that same frame. Good Luck!

    hey do you got any good tips for cleaning the rust off the brake mounts? on the frame im restoring there pretty rusty. Was thinking about hitting them with a fine sand paper

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  3 года назад +2

      Yes try a bath of Oxalic Acid and water in a big plastic tub, leave it overnight then rinse. Best method I have found so far. Lots of RUclips videos on it.

    Dupli has quite a few "blue" options and I want to confirm this was the Ford Blue Engine Enamel (SKU: DE1601) that you used. Great job and thanks again !!!

    Can any dupli color work ? i got a Fit frame I wanna hit with some old school ruby red

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  2 года назад +1

      Yes as long as you buy the matching brand clear coat. Some clear coats will bubble when mixed with different brands.

      @@B-Sauce thanks for the reply most definitely will check it out and for the clear even tho it’s the same brand does it matter what one it is I know I’ve seen 2 for the Dupli brand

    Do you need to sand the primer and the paint after each layer until you reach the final paint layer?
    I've seen some people sanding even the final layer before they put the finisher on.
    thanks for the video it was a good watch

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  2 года назад +1

      You can. If you want it to look showroom quality then a light sanding between primer coats helps make the final coat of paint very smooth.

    quick question to anyone that can help me so I just sanded and painted a bmx frame I used krylon true blue paint and primer and triple thick clear glaze let it hang for like 3 days and thought it was good to take down but apparently a little to soon so I put it in the front seat of a car on a sheet and it kinda imprinted on the bottom of rear dropouts and bottom of head tube other than that looks great the question is can I buff that out at least the head tube bc it’s pretty noticeable or should I just say f!*k it and deal with it lol

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  2 года назад +1

      From my experience, spray paint cannot be polished effectively. Its too soft and you normally burn through the paint. I like to let mine air dry for 2 full days before I handle it to be safe. I have done the exact same thing you have before so I feel your pain lol

    Can you just sand the existing paint without going through the chemical process?

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  2 года назад +1

      Depends on the condition of the existing paint. You can do it that way for sure. I just enjoy stripping to bare metal.

    Apparently Sam blasting the best I need is a sandblaster and a compressor and buy some sand and I think you can recycle the sand as well and a sandbox there’s not much like 100 bucks 150 bucks how about 50 bucks a tub of sand he could probably get it cheaper

    • @B-Sauce
      @B-Sauce  2 года назад

      Those cheaper sandblast tanks aren't big enough to fit the whole box frame from what I saw. I checked harbor freight and online. But yes you are correct sandblasting is by far the most effective way to prep the frame.

      Its a $100-$150 frame tops. Powder coating is $250+ where I live. Not many pother options unless I want to drive a few hours so not worth this frame. My next restoration is a 1997 Standard STA500 and that one will be done proper with power coating.
