  • Today we begin the process of reviewing the Simucube 2 Sport and Pro, and comparing them against not only each other, but the Simucube 2 Ultimate, and of course the Fanatec DD1 and DD2.
    In today's video, we begin by taking a look at the differences between the three Simucube 2 models on paper, then dive into the hardware and take a look at the build quality and internal electronics.

      Actually one thing I’m curious about the I probably should have asked yesterday when I saw this comment: what was behind the decision to go with 2 power supplies for the SC2 Pro rather than a single, larger unit to suit the power requirements of the motor?

    • @simucube
      @simucube 3 года назад +2

      @@YayDanMan Sorry for the late reaction but better late than never! We had to go with the Dual PSU because there were no suitable models back in 2018/2019 that would be as high quality that we wanted. We are updating that setup this year and there will be single PSU in the future (product development happens also in PSU side :)

      SIMUCUBE better late than never indeed! Thanks for replying, and while it won’t happen until later this year I’m 99% certain of which DD unit I’ll be ordering through HRS ;)

    Literally just got my new SC2 Pro mounted to my rig, got my triples set up, cable management done (properly this time), and just sat down having a spliff and a cuppa tea before I slide in the PC and hook it all up. So excited, shout out to SimTech Racing UK, great service and help with the step-up. I was playing GTS on PS4 on my CSL Elite this time 4 months ago.
    I also had money 4 months ago lol

      Colin V8Racer13 Yeah, but usually the well known testers tend to be too kind in all directions, and in the end it’s going to be „Well, they are ALL really good, and in the end it comes down to taste...“. Having had a DD2 and now a SC2 Pro for a while I can tell you that to me the difference is huge! Detail, signal speed, software and drivers, just all a notch ahead of Fanatec. A track like Sebring feels sooo different on a SC2, you feel all the bumps and ripples unfiltered, on a DD1 half of them is „not there“ and the other half feels a little shallow and dull. But we‘ll see what the verdict is going to be here... 😊

      @@MajorWolf72 DD1 or DD2 with the lastest drivers has nothing to do with old beta drivers. Fanatec DD1/2 are now way better regarding detail and speed. I dont know how they compare to Simucube after the lastest drivers.

    • @MajorWolf72
      @MajorWolf72 3 года назад

      João Pinto Even if that’s the case, and I wish the Fanatec owners that it’s actually as you say, the limitations of the hardware still make SC2 a 2.0 compared. Outrunner and the Controller are not on the same level.

    I can't wait to here about the feeling of the different wheels. It's great that you answering are comments along with your own input. Does the zero play wheel adapter make the wheel come out further than the stock adapter? I need to check your video out on that.

    Great video! Want to add something about steppers. When they are unpowered and you try to spin them steps can be clearly distinguished and shaft is pretty hard to move (because of permanent magnets) while emitting noise (like gears but not really, hard to describe). If that is fixed in software and electronics are really good then steppers may as well be as good as servos (if you get high voltage power supply like simucube 2 does or fanatec, as mentioned in the video it's needed for fast rotation).

    Glad you mentioned the PCIE power connector. I just ordered the SC2 Ultimate and seeing that makes me think of the 4090s shorting and frying when the cable isn’t fully plugged in. I think I might paint the connector with highlighter or something to make sure it’s fully plugged in like the MSI plugs. Anyone know what paint might be best to use? I suppose I expect that connector to get quite hot.

    As always, great content! Are you getting a VRS Direct Force Pro in for review? Many are saying it’s better than the Fanatec DD options and similar to Simucube options, would be good to hear your thoughts in future! 👍

      Yes. I've been speaking with them for a few months now. Just waiting for them to ramp up their production capacity. I was really hoping to have it here to compare directly while I still have the Sport and Pro, but should be before the end of the year.
