Peter seems like a great husband. And is so sweet and and understanding of what your needs are. I can tell that he has a servents heart. Great job Peter!
I know this is an older video but i just wanted to comment on this because I ADORE how much Peter loves you through thick and thin I love how he does anything and everything he can do for you most guys now a days wouldn't be able to handle chronic illness and i know this first hand because I have a chronic illness and can not find a guy that can 'handle' being with me but I love what you two have, God truly made you guys for each other!
God bless this couple. I commend this young man husband for taking care of his wife and his dedication to help his wife in her CF life. And this young lady is a model of bravery and positive attitude against the odds of this medical condition. God Bless you both always.
Hello Mary, Peter & Oliver; I have been an RN for 22 years and this is the first video that I have seen, that is not only enjoyable to watch, but extremely informative without being difficult to understand. I am definitely going to share this with some docs in our area, so they can refer their patients to this site, as I know anyone who watches, will benefit from your kind, caring values & your desire to help others. I also want you to know how much I respect & appreciate you both & how deeply it touches my heart; seeing the two of you, not only how you interact with your audience, but with each other! God Bless you both abundantly, Linda Swearingen Oregon, USA
Mary & Peter , I am a PT and I have never ever seen such an explicit and practical video . I am going to recommend all my pulmonary rehab patients to watch it . Your efforts are going to save so many life’s. Oliver made this video so lively. Just loved watching his “concerned expressions standing bedside “ . Beautiful. Thank you !
I’m a respiratory therapy student I have a competency on postural drainage & chest percussions tomorrow. Thank you for this video it was very helpful & makes me proud of the profession I’m going into! God bless 🙏🏽❤️🥰
I just want to say thank you! This video helped me avoid hospitalization! I had severe bronchitis and I didn’t have access to strong medication because I was (and currently am) pregnant. I have severe asthma and my lungs don’t typically let go of bacteria on their own. I was struggling to breath and my husband and I used this (with my doctors approval) and the first time we did it I felt a major improvement! Thank you!!!
I am so thankful that God brought Peter into your life Mary. It's so obvious that Peter adores you and wants to help you in any way he can. You two are so good together.
I can't emphasize enough on how heartwarming that was for us all to watch, I am sure. I grew to helplessly admire the persons you two are. Loads of love sent from Algeria.
We are currently learning this technique in PT school mid Covid pandemic. To keep everyone safe, we've been practicing on pillows and it is just not the same. It is SO nice to see this technique performed on a person and you can see it working. So awesome! Thank you!
Great teamwork, and fun informative demonstration. I’m a Respiratory Therapist. But rather than trying to explain the steps to my daughter for her congested infant, I forwarded your video to her. I just let her know how to modify the procedure for her baby. A picture is worth a thousand words when you’re not in the same house. So thanks so much for sharing. Bless you both!
Boy, does this take me back! 37years back! Had to do this on our son,Peter, for his asthma. Dr. Leroy Matthews was our doctor. Read about him if you never heard of him. He was one of the most awesome doctors ever! Good job, Peter. I really do remember how tiring it was. The last position was always a little p.t. on his little bum! Love you like my own. XXXOOO
I have a child with CF and I was looking for someone else for info and what I noticed here is how lovingly this guy was looking at her. Very sweet. Cute couple. Thank u for making this.
I'm a nursing professor and am sending this to lay folks who need PT. You guys are so thorough and relatable and you video is understandable to regular people. Great job--thanks so much for posting.
Watching this during the coronavirus crisis (March 31st, 2020) since im a chronic asthma patient. Learning anything that could help me keep my condition under control...Thanks!
I'm suffering Asthma since i was young until now im 35yo and almost 3weeks until now im suffering shortness of breath that's why im here. Hope it's help me ☺️
Although you have to go through all this, there is never a moment that you don’t have a smile on your face. This is so inspirational and just wonderful to see how you don’t let anything get to you!!💕
Thank you for posting this. I have COPD and my husband isn't crazy about this...this video is simple and non medical which I can show him. You two are a great couple, i wish you years of happiness together.
You two are amazing. I don’t know where you are now in your life journey together, as this is an older video. I have friends who are so like you guys. He’s been supporting her in her CF life for the 7 or so years they’ve been married. There is much much love evident between you two and between them. It’s awe inspiring. I looked this up not because I have CF, but because I was looking for chest therapy to help clear my lungs of mucus from a bad viral infection. I remember doing this for my daughter when she was young. Thanks so much for making this wonderfully informative and uplifting video. God bless you both.
This video is incredibly helpful! My boyfriend is a quadriplegic and has a difficult time expelling mucus due to the paralysis that effected his diaphragm. After getting what was seemingly no help from medical professionals, we are excited to try these techniques. Thank you so much for the tips and the visual walk through. Can’t wait to try it with him! ❤️
This is a wonderfully done video. I have to say the younger generations of PT's are killing it with great content from "ancient" wisdom. Thank you so much!!!! Especially for now with people at home who are struggling with mucous and congestion in the lungs from the illnesses around. Mucho gracias!
I appreciate Peter so much for taking care of u the way he does I am disabled and in a wheelchair u found yourself a keeper I found ur vlog about a week ago and love ur videos alot I gave been trying to find out how to get a service dog but im having trouble finding out if u could please let me know how I would appreciate it alot
Hi Peter and Mary, Today in early morning My husband and I found your video. I'm having chronic bronchial asthma and about one week I got another attack. So both of us were searching for a better chest PT video. At last we got you. At the same time, my husband started to follow your guide. And he did it!!! It really works. I coughed out sputum several times during PT. I feel little relief and this is first time and My husband and I hope to continue. Thanks a lot... and we pray for your wellness!!
Thank you for this very helpful video. I have asthma, and just got diagnosed with bronchiectasis. They gave me a sheet with postural drainage and sent me on my way. I've searched everywhere, and your video has been the best! Simple, but with very detailed instructions about positions for me and for my husband, who will have to "pound" the mucus out! I tried doing it once and felt like I was suffocating. I was doing it wrong! I can't wait to try it the correct way.
I used to do a very amateurish version of this for my ex, who did not have CF but whenever he had colds, they would go straight to his chest. He really appreciated it, but I had no idea there were so many effective positions I could have used. This video was very helpful. Thank-you! (Sweet concerned doggo at 14:41.)
My school of nursing literally posted this video online for us to watch to learn how to do chest PT! haha! About 1 year ago, I found this video for the same purpose, so it's funny that now they are recommending we watch it. Clearly, you guys are doing something right ;)
I just wanted to say how awesome it is that you have a husband that loves you so much and is not shallow about your illness! It’s great that he is willing to help you because a lot of men run from this kind of things , I know personally because I have Lyme disease! You seem like a very sweet young lady and I am sure you take care of him too! It’s supposed to be 50/50 but men don’t usually see it that way! You are both blessed to have each other! Thanks for sharing your videos! Just seeing the love between you two almost gives me hope! God bless your marriage and the both of you! Hope you and your sister feel better!!! 🙏🙏❤️❤️
Hi my mum's almost done massage therapy training so she appreciates that you did this video because it was easy to understand and it was great to see how effective it is. *****
I been a nurse ,LPN for 2 months .My client casemanager just called and told me to perform this. Without training I'm like do what again.. I had to research it😔 so now I'm here . Great learning. I learn more with ya then my job
very neat video guys! you can actually hear her mucus loosening in the sound of the exhales hey? they get raspier every time. Also just wanted to say that your undying positivity is so commendable. I don't have any illnesses, I just love to watch your videos for a little piece of sunshine! thanks for the smiles :)
Give a thumbs up for Peter 👇👇👇His patience and commitment to Mary especially when it comes to things like this is amazing and is something I can't not notice in all their videos. He really doesn't care and is always acting so normally not even acknowledging Mary coughing etc (in a good way of course)
How can anyone not like your videos? You guys are so positive all the time I love it.. Also I kinda wish Peter could pound on my back lol I have a chronic tumor condition, I suffer from chronic pain daily the sound it makes when he is doing the pounding sounds so soothing
Hey guys I just recently met my sister for the first time. She has CF and Ive been going down a rabbit whole looking for things I can do to help her and this video has been the most informative yet. You guys are amazing thank you for making this video.
this will be handy for me later on since my boyfriend has CF and I want toen support him true the process 😊 much love for you guys ❤ you inspire me to keep fighting with him
You and Peter are such a great team. I'm so glad you are both so happy and have so much fun because all of this will help Mary to keep CF in check. You are so inspiring or others who have it and your happiness is contagious which helps anyone with any disease or handicap. It's just so great that you have each other. And we get to watch your lives! So fun! I think I use the word "so" too much! ha ha Good thing you are both in such good shape because you would really be falling off the cushion! And Peter would have tired hands too quick! :) Love you guys...
This is such an amazing video! Kudos to you both, you are such an inspiration both of you . I am an RN and am so grateful to have found this. Will definitely be sharing your very delightful and easy to understand methods with any one who may need help with this procedure.
Thank you. I am a doctor who has a child with cf. We rely on the HILL-ROOM Vest, but if power goes out...This will be what we have to do. They do NOT teach us how to do this in med school. Again, thanks to both of you!
I want to thank you two for putting this video up 5 yrs ago. My wife contracted Covid a couple weeks ago and her lungs were filling up and her breathing was becoming labored. Just for the record I am not anti hospital/medical I was raised by an RN but I am one who like to try natural methods first before running to the hospital. We used some essential oil’s that help lung functions and incorporated the PT from your video. Long story short the combination of the two made a huge difference. This morning my wife could barely breath, tonight she is breathing freely and has tons more energy. We will continue this for several for several more days but thank you for the information.
God bless you both...very interesting....I have RA arthritis and sometimes get feeling sorry for myself and the other day I came upon your videos... I see how much you go through.....I picked myself up. Love watching them
thank you for the detailed demonstration. I'm looking for effective therapy to help loosen my child's mucus due to pneumonia. I've only done percussion on his left lower lobe (where the infection has settled) and it seems to have helped even after one session.
This was very helpful. Thank you. I did CPT on children when I was a nursing student, but never an adult. And I had forgotten all the positioning. My husband has mucopurulent bronchitis, so we are investigating all methods to help him clear mucus.
Okay, y'all are ADORABLE!! Bless you. I just have asthma, not CF and tried this technique and it helped me too! Thank you! Also, I love that red and white blanket! Oliver is so cute!
You both are so wonderful - I have so much respect for both of you and the work you do with each other. God bless you both - you are in my thoughts and prayers! xx
Fantastic clear and fun video , ty...I am a massage therapist but wanted to see how this was done for hubby with work induced inphasema. bless you both
Mary and Peter, I'm so glad you shared your video! :) i do not have CF but i do have COPD. I have been trying to find ways to get the phlegm loosened and out of my lungs.. I am so greatful that i found your video! :) God Bless you both Michele
Hi Mary, Hi Peter! Just wanna commend you both for all the hard work you guys do everyday to fight CF. You guys really inspire us all to fight, no matter what were dealing with. So keep fighting love u guys!!!P.S. Love these kind of videos, would love too see more.
Really it is?? Bcz my father has same problem like yours n I'm watching this video.... If it's effective then I also do.. Bcz sometimes we shouldn't do many more things with critical patients.... Plz rely me as it possible..
I am not asmatic and don't have c.f. and I have joined in on coughing fits too.. Lol I am starting to think it's kinda like a yawn... You know you see someone else yawn so you yawn lol.. Speaking of which @thefreylife makes me yawn a lot LMAO!
What a beautiful couple!! It's amazing to see you both do this with such trust and even humor. It hurts me to hear you cough like that, Mary; I can't imagine how much it must hurt your husband every day. God bless you both.
This is detailed and fantastic. I get bronchitis or pneumonia like every year have asthma and i have been told to do these things but never actually seen it. Thank You and your two are so sweet.
Wow what an amazing young couple !!!!! What an amazing person you are Mary a what an amazing husband!!! What amazing creati ity & positive essence, & lack of self pity! Thankyou so much for shareing this home demonstration that l too can now pass on to someone in my fa.ily with lung complications. God bless you both & love from South 🇿🇦
Peter is such a great husband! You can just see it in his attitude and face that he loves you so much. I don't know many people off the top of my head that would be kind enough to do PT for their spouse/family member/friend.
Thank you very much Mary and Peter (and cute Oliver too) for making this awesome video. I have bronchiectisis and this video has give me wonderful information for helping to get the mucous up and out. Love your idea Mary to use the little cups. I always feel like I am wasting tissues. When I do my compression vest I usually use an empty tissue box with a couple of used tissues, but I like the idea of having the cheery red cups instead. God bless you both.
My son has cerebral palsy, (since birth), age 36, a sweet "boy" with 3 yr old mentality ... And with no head and trunk control. He has started getting chest infections more often now and is very slow to respond to antibiotics, only to get reinfected weeks later. Your video is the very first (and only) I've watched to introduce me to this kind of treatment. He is in a hospital bed but sits up in his wheelchair for a minimum of 4hrs per day. He also has "tummy time" in bed or on a tumble mat once a day. You guys have given my husband and I some great ideas and direction!! I believe I should also try to get help (like a nebulizer vest (?) ) thru a pulmonary dept somewhere. He has always been a very good cougher. Maybe that is why he's stayed alive for so long. But we can see that he needs extra help now, especially as he's aging. Unfortunately, these little guys are so often forgotten "for dead" if not for the advocacy of loved ones. We have to go begging for help.... Sad. Thank you so,so much for making such a clear instructional video! We will adapt these ideas to his crippled body and it should give him some relief. I know you are not professionals, but, believe me, we learn more things this way than thru the so called "professionals" that don't want to touch an adult cerebral palsied individual with a 10 ft pole. May God bless you both!
You both are so inspiring... Our family is a prone respi prob. Most of us is asthmatic. And I have a history of pneumonia. Its is indeed a best procedure to clear out the airway, most esp. to my grandma that is most prone to it. By the way,I am a dialysis nurse. This video helps a lot, since it's been a very long time i had never encountered this condition again. Quite refreshing to me. Thanks to you both!! Cheers!!
What a beautiful couple, and very informative video - love the way you normalize chest PT and present in an easy, straight-forward way. And Oliver the poodle! I am not a respiratory PT but do manual therapy; have had people with CF asking for sessions; this helps me understand their daily routine and issues.
You guys are such a great team!! Thanks for sharing another part of your day with us! I just started having to do chest pt and my friend has offered to try to learn so this video was awesome! Thanks Frey life
+Kelsey Anderson Kelsey, if you are needing airway clearance and don't always have a friend to pound on you, I highly recommend the back massage thingy for 20 bucks on amazon. I can send you a link if you'd like. It's seriously sort of like what the vest does...just in a tiny spot instead of all over your lungs, so you have to hold it there and move it around.
Peter is such a great husband and they work together perfectly. I love you guys! I also love how Ollie comes in every now and again just to see if mom is okay. ^_^
Thanks for this great demonstration! I just followed along using my electric percussor and discovered that if I use it on a slower setting (following Peter's pace) I have a more productive cough. I would love it if you discussed dealing with absence of/minimal appetite and what causes it if you happen to know. Oh- I used a staple remover to open my Cayston when the blue cap came off but not the foil. :)
+Misty Oh good idea about the staple remover! I'm so glad you were able to figure out a slower pace that helps your cough be more productive! That's awesome! Keep up the good work! Ok...appetite... it's tricky. For me, my spleen is enlarged so it presses on my stomach which makes me feel full. Also, when I'm sicker, my appetite is even worse. Also, some meds make me nauseous . I'm not sure about other patients, but that's why I don't have an appetite.
Also, I absolutely love watching your videos. Especially these ones! Learning more about Cf makes me more comfortable with it. I do not personally know anyone with it but its great information to know in case I do meet someone with it. So thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us! Also, I would LOVE to hear/see you guys do a devotional together. I just think that would be so neat.
i just came across you two and I am remembering a dear friend who was my respiratory therapist of years ago. I am seventy now with a history of bronchiolitis and asthma. I have had to find ways to do this myself over the years, when I have had attacks or flareups. Keep loving and caring for each other. Perhaps you can share ways for people like me who live alone. Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing this video. I am my moms caretaker and I needed to find so way to help cleqr her chest during this pandemic. This will be our new routine.
Mary, I just want to say that you are an inspiration and that I look up to your positivity! P.S. you have forever changed the way that I look at tiny red solo cups! lol
This was a very informative video and I'm sure will help many as you share the technique of PT. God bless both of you and Ollie boy too as you are a special loving team together. Peter, you are such a caring, loving and supportive husband, I can see it in your eyes and I know Mary loves you for that so much. You guys deserve the best in life and I pray that you receive it. Love and hugs as always.
Hey Mary! Physical therapy student here! Learned a lot from your video! Also, you have such a awesome voice. It sounds like you could be a voice actress! Greta job with the video
Found out that jumping on the trampolin is also helpful. There are small indoor trampolins which are sufficient. I use it with taking Oxygene. So I dont loose my breath soon. Greetings from germany,
Both of you are so incredible. Mary your voice is so sweet and endearing. Peter you are so lovely with Mary. Both of you deserve great appreciation. I don’t know if I need chest PT but I am coughing and I was referred by one of my clients that this could be helpful
I am in nursing school, this was very educative. They kind of informed us on what this is, but it is nice to see the whole process. BTW...you probably have been asked this many times before...but what kind of dog is Oliver? ...I have a dog named Oliver, too! Wish I could post a pic here!
Like your demonstration and you explain it in a very effective way. God bless you and I hope the best for you both. Thank you peter for taking good care of her and keep cupping those hands 👍🏼
Peter seems like a great husband. And is so sweet and and understanding of what your needs are. I can tell that he has a servents heart. Great job Peter!

I don't have CF, but I do have severe asthma related coughs and wheezing. This really helps me out at night when I have out of control coughing.
Love watching them
Thank you for sharing! I am in physical therapy assistant school, and I just learned how to do chest PT. This is so clear and helpful!
thank you for the detailed demonstration.
Much thanks for your informative video! Im recovering from pneumonia & this has been a GREAT help!! Best to you both, and Oliver, too! ♥️
Okay, y'all are ADORABLE!! Bless you. I just have asthma, not CF and tried this technique and it helped me too! Thank you! Also, I love that red and white blanket! Oliver is so cute!
This video was just what I needed to learn how to do this for my husband. THANK YOU!!!
You both are so wonderful - I have so much respect for both of you and the work you do with each other. God bless you both - you are in my thoughts and prayers! xx
I have a lot of respect for you both, even Oliver is kind and loving. You two were meant to be together.
:) God Bless you both
Michele
Hi Mary, Hi Peter! Just wanna commend you both for all the hard work you guys do everyday to fight CF. You guys really inspire us all to fight, no matter what were dealing with. So keep fighting love u guys!!!P.S. Love these kind of videos, would love too see more.
I’m asthmatic and I found myself sympathetically coughing with you. Great video with great information!
Awww sweet Ollie with his head resting on the bed to make sure Mary is ok .....he is such a precious boy 💙😃
Lindsay Carter right I died of the cuteness there
My heart melts every time I watch their vlogs and see him lol.....He looks like a big stuffed animal ....I so badly want to give hime a big cuddle 😍
Lindsay Carter me to they are the bestest❤❤❤
I wrote a paper and did a presentation on CF a few weeks ago for school. Watching your videos has been so helpful in getting an "insider" view.
What a beautiful couple!! It's amazing to see you both do this with such trust and even humor. It hurts me to hear you cough like that, Mary; I can't imagine how much it must hurt your husband every day. God bless you both.
I am a nursing student. I love learning from people who have the disease themselves. thank you for the info!!
very informative for people who have heard of CF but explains what they have to do for PT as well as how it helps
GOD Bless you Peter for being so supportive, caring and dedicated to your wife!!
Thank you, Mary and Peter, for breaking it down so beautifully and cheerfully. Yay, Oliver!
Thumbs up!! Im just reviewing for our praticals tomorrow thats why im searching for a airway clearance technique and you guys demonstrate it clearly
Cheers!!
It's really amazing how effective that very first exercise was where he just shook your shoulders. So amazing!
+The Frey Life yes that would be awesome! Thanks for such a great idea Mary!
Ok here it is :) amzn.to/1YmVrgj
+The Frey Life just ordered it! Thanks again!
Cv g hi F oh hi hi ouo
Peter is such a great husband and they work together perfectly. I love you guys! I also love how Ollie comes in every now and again just to see if mom is okay. ^_^
I m doing DPT AND U GYSS DOING GRATE JOB AND HELPING OTHERS PATIENTS ND STUDENTS..I LIKE THIS BCOZ IT IS RELATED TO MY FEILD..
Random search brought me to you all. These have been great for my little ones who aren't couching productivity!!!
Thanks for all the helpful comments as well. I needed healthy solutions for asthma for my son.
I love this video. Asthmatic here and looking for relief of flare ups. I rarely cough but am definitely congested. Thank you for sharing🙏
Beautiful couple and very informative for me as an RT student. Thank you so much! I feel even more motivated to study now.
Very informative and motivational. Kudos to this couple.
i just came across you two and I am remembering a dear friend who was my respiratory therapist of years ago. I am seventy now with a history of bronchiolitis and asthma. I have had to find ways to do this myself over the years, when I have had attacks or flareups. Keep loving and caring for each other. Perhaps you can share ways for people like me who live alone. Thank you.
I found this very interesting! Even as a CFer I have never done PT only the vest (except for when I was a baby)
it's nice to know there still is true love out there
Is there though
Yes there is
Thanks so much for sharing this video.
Awesome PT video! Thank you for demonstrating! Lots of information! Ollie is so cute when he comes over to check on Mary!
+It Is Not Easy Being Wheezy So glad you liked it! And yes, I have to agree with you...Oliver is adorable :)
Very helpful thank you . It gave me a better understanding of the concept
wow that first round made her cough alot. seems like a very effective technique. thanks for sharing this!
You two make a GREAT team, and of course Ollie is there to give moral support!
I love how Ollie watches to make sure you're still okay! he's very good at his job
Isn't he the sweetest? Always checking to make sure Mom is ok.
I am in nursing school, this was very educative. They kind of informed us on what this is, but it is nice to see the whole process.
BTW...you probably have been asked this many times before...but what kind of dog is Oliver? ...I have a dog named Oliver, too! Wish I could post a pic here!
He's a standard poodle! I have a dog named Oliver, too. How funny.
I AM A THIRD YEAR BPT STUDENT. LOVED WATCHING YOUR VIDEO
Like your demonstration and you explain it in a very effective way. God bless you and I hope the best for you both.
Thank you peter for taking good care of her and keep cupping those hands 👍🏼
