People who doesnt own this phone will talk about lag and stutter. Get the phone or go demo it in the store. I own a pixel xl 2 and note 8. If pixel 2 is a 10 in smooth and lag free. Note 8 is a 9. Very close. But the note has SO MANY more feature that make it 100x better.
eduardo velazquez - I have never had a Note 8, but my roommate chose it over the Pixel 2 XL (which is what I went with) and he regrets it wholeheartedly. It really does lag often throughout the day and pictures don't come out good at all. He's done 2 factory resets in the past month and to no avail. The only good thing he likes about it is the screen size and the S Pen.

I can keep 27 app with note 8. With my pixel xl 2 around 12 before it start reloading.

I've had my s8+ since release day and I've had no issues in almost a year. Still very smooth and battery is still great. Watching RUclips/Netflix is amazing on this screen. I don't think I'll need an upgrade for another 2 years or so.
Had my s8+ since preorders and up until 3 weeks ago my phone charges slower and I get the slow charging notification. It's not the charger because I bought the wireless charger that uses the same charging brick and cable. I'm too lazy to go to the Samsung store to complain or to figure out the problem
King Gwilo is it the regular wireless charger or the fast wireless charger? I know what you're talking about. I bought the wireless charger for my s6 and it charges slow unless you have the actual wireless fast charger
I bought the fast wireless charger but I don't charge it wirelessly, I use the the Samsung fast charging brick and usb c cable, but it's hit or miss, sometimes it'll work and sometimes It won't, and the same thing happens with the original charger, so I believe there's something wrong with the phone
Wish I could say the same... Battery life is trash now but surprisingly it's pretty fantastic with medium power saving on. Performance is bad, and I'm about to send it in for repairs for a third time for weird hardware failures

I just came back over to Apple after owning another Samsung Note the past couple years. Samsung uses oled displays which are beautiful, but they don't last & become less bright. I'm just saying. I guess it depends on the usage. I own a 4 year old galaxy s4 which also uses an oled display and it has no burn-in at all. The display still looks great.
Carlos Bailey Not always. I text a lot so I made sure I changed my keyboard and themes often to help that. However I use Facebook often and that’s where I believe I got the screen burn even alternating between portrait and landscape mode. Nothing will prevent the colors from fading, it’s just the nature of amoled screens. So I like not having to worry about screen burn and trying to prevent it with this iPhone lcd display. Honestly hope they don’t start making all their phones with the oled screens in the future too. Beautiful, but doesn’t last if you actually like to use your phone a lot.
I got the note 8 on release day. This phone is a godsend. Thanks to the s-pen and Dex, I use it and it alone for all my work. No more notebooks, no more pens and pencils, no more laptops. It does it all, especially considering you can use excel and word on it, I have made enough money using the Note 8 for work to make the purchase justifiable. This is a business device.
I do contract quality control for deep-sea pipelines. My job requires me to take notes on the parameters and requirements to ensure things such as temperature, thicknesses, environmental conditions, etc are within the specification, as well as pipe tally , lab testing results, and time and dates for everything. I also need pictures for every witness or hold event that occurs, because the client loves pictures. At the end of the day, I have to use microsoft word to create a daily report for all the information I recorded and I have to insert the pictures. My timesheet I use is excel, because it has the proper equations to add up my hours and mileage and pay, etc. I can literally do all of this from my NOTE 8, its pretty convenient not having to switch devices or move files over and around, its all just there.

at work i am on and off of a wifi signal and i watch alot of youtube videos and search a ton of things my battery needs to be charged usually once time within an 8 hours period within about 4 to 6 hours it usually drops down to about 30 to 40 percent from a full charge hope this helps
Battery life is not the best indeed my note 5 held better BUT when you apply power saver to medium it holds over 12 hours easy!! I love my note 8 but RUclips app crashed twice in my one month of ownership.
I have had my note 8 since October and I have 0 slowdown or stutter issues with it at all. It's literally the same as when I took it out of the box and powered it on for the first time. I'm a heavy media consumer on my device and I couldn't be happier with it.
ooh yuh it's really not as bad as everyone says it is, I think. I can get a full 8 hour work shift on a single charge with about 20% to spare. During that time, I have RUclips playing in the background almost constantly with a combination of screen on and off in addition to messaging, email and a health tracker app running as well.

I love the ultra battery save mode. I had to use this for when I went to Seattle for the Star Wars movie and needed it to last over two days without a charge.
Like it better than my pixel 2 xl. Extra ram helps with memory management which pixel 2 was horrible at. It's not as smooth but close. If pixel 2 is 10 note 8 is 8. S pen is super useful for jotting notes or phone numbers at work during meetings. Fps location sucks but you get used to it after like a day. Not a huge deal. Also no real compromises. SD card. Headphone jack. QC support. USB pd support. Fast wireless charging. It does about everything! Just wish battery was better. Speaker isn't amazing either.
Had my Note8 since release weekend. No issues at all. I still don't get why people have a problem with the fingerprint scanner placement. I have no problem with it and haven't since I started using it. It's secure, and it is easy to get to with both hands.
Samsung have honestly near enough perfected their new UI I hated my s7 edge because it lagged so much after a few months. I’ve had the note 8 since day 1 and it’s still extremely smooth, no stutters or lag. The features on the phone are second to none and as someone who upgrades pretty much every year I really don’t feel compelled to. I think the note 8 will be my daily phone for at least 2 years at the bear minimum and even then unless something comes out that smashes the note 8 out of the water I don’t think I’ll upgrade for some time

I'm an Android user and I can still see the appeal of an iPhone. Heck I was considering going from the Honor 8 to the SE lately because of how low its price is right now and how good a design it is but I simply couldn't imagine living without unlimited storage and customization. Other than that the SE remains one of my favorite phones of all time for design and purpose.

The Note 8 is "the standard". Bottom-line, point blank, period. From the display, to, "yes", the S Pen. Why continuously smudge a thing that is pivotal to being viewed... with your figures... I think tapping and swiping and anything that requires you to touch is so passe and out-dated. Think about it, you keep lenses on eyewear clean, windows clear as glass-- excuse the pun--and anything "viewed" clear of smudegs... so why like a thing the requires such an opposing action to operate that... well you get my point Note 8: the bomb. I have had the Note 4 since release and it still performs with no hiccups. The battery does need to be replaced and that is reasonable because it has been 3+ years. I bought the iPhone X because i like to alternate between Apple and Samsung every 2 years. Maybe, i'll start carrying two phones. If i will the most recent Note (8 or 9) will be my iPhone's companion ;)

Lots of things I can do with my Note 4 that you can't do with your Note 8. Swap the battery. Plug it into any TV for a direct screen mirror. Drop it without feeling like I'm going to die.
Thanks for the video. I've been thinking about upgrading this year from a Note 4. I'll be waiting until the Note 9 comes out, but if they don't include a feature I expect/want I'll either take a Note 8, or just get along with the old Note 4. It still feels fast enough for me.

I think other manufacturer would catch up and surpass the camera of pixel 2 by that time, So, it will only be better than the competition like it is right now with the pixel 2. And the challenge will also get intense as Samsung is also bringing big camera improvement with S9, with features like variable aperture and super slow motion, and these features will also be available in Note 8 as well with some improvements. Hopefully pixel 3 will still come out with the best camera in the market, i believe in Google's image processing capabilities. I create tech based contents. The pixel camera is mainly all software based, also the lense is made by Sony. Google has way more ai leaning then any other tech company. Google gets a lot of information about our lives only bc we agree to the TOS, and return we get to use their services free of charge. I believe the pixel phones will lead the way in cell phone cameras.
EVERY phone has lag after awhile. You may just have to refresh your phone. NO phone battery lasts an ENTIRE day with heavy use. If anybody says their phone doesn't do this is a liar.

Even if it stutters either s8 or note 8 I still gets the job done for me. Stutters I don't mind I have barely any on both phones and if it starts to stutter or lag then I just use clean master to refresh the system from so many procecess.

Well, there are good reason for you not seeing other device in the CES unbox therapy videos. A lot of the RUclipsrs present there was not Note/Samsung smartphone users traditionally, except maybe for Mrwhosetheboss. Uravgconsumer, Austin Evans and Dom have always switched to the latest iPhones as their daily drivers, MKBHD have also been a pixel fan and used the first pixel as his daily driver and now switching to the pixel 2. And if you haven't noticed it yet then Iphone X and the Pixel 2 are the latest big smartphone releases. There are Samsung using RUclipsrs who were not present like Supersaf, jerryrigeverything. Well they know the note 8 but some of them don't care they will go just for one thing good like the pixel2 for the camera or the iPhone x because it was a new design but good camera but the easy to break no productive software just like the pixel2. The note 8 is better because it can do more at the same time multi windows apps or I'm watching youtube and can still play listen too both it and a call waiting plus send a file too. It's a work horse.
Love my note 8, and this phone has changed me over from being an apple user for 7 years! Honestly the productivity aspect of this phone is out of this world and that's why I love it. The headphone jack also helps due to my addiction to wired studio type headphones! And that screen! No one can say that the Note 8s screen is not the best screen in the world on a smartphone right now! Add a skin like the Dbrand Dragon skin I have with a good bumper and a legit screen protector not a cheap knockoff and you have a great looking productive feature packed mobile work station in your pocket! Who could deny that? Well the price kinda sucks but hey it's worth it for some like me who actually put it through it's paces with the work I do with it. I was sceptical about the fingerprint unlock before deciding to upgrade to the Note 8. But after getting used to it for a week, the location of the fingerprint sensor falls quite conveniently right wjere my pointer finger lands as I pull the phone out of my pocket. Most cases help a lot with this, as there is a cutout for the cam/ fs and it only helps with locating it. Sensor location is NOT an issue.
You have to turn of all that location stuff. Samsung, Google, Calendar, Phone, Weather, Bixby, etc. all want to track your location. Only give it to things you must have, like Google for maps for instance, and you will save a ton of battery life. Good way to check is how much idle drain do you have and it should be about 1% every few hours if you have it set up right.
Unremovable misly 3k mah with full glass frame waiting to slip in my hand like a soap is a deal breaker for me. And hell stil lag with 6GB for real? My Custom Rom rooted debloated Note 4 w/ 3GB never experience a lag and whopping 10kmah zero lemon battery gives me 12 to 16 hr screen time.
Well i had no lag the 9 is way ahead of the 4 which i had almost 3 years and i always use a case my phones look like the day i bought it at launch. Battery worked 16 hours the other day battery was 52 percent didn't need to plug in i keep my screen lighting 50 percent all times. The best is the pen features and so much more. But i buy all my phones from best buy which their phones I've never had an issue. The ram is the best keeping all the apps open plus the split screen and the edge duo apps very sweet. I work with 20 guys 8 of us note 9 another 7 guys s8 plus other 5 have other brand phones. This the best Samsung had made it's a beast.

Does your note 8 have light bleed where the curves of the screen ends ? Mine has it and it's very bad and I am using a spingen case to cover them . And yes , it's very true , it gets scratched very very easy ...
It's because samsung ui offers so much function and you doesn't recognize "lag" at all. Even tho it is faster than the pixel 2xl or the iphoneX, so it is blazing fast.

Okan Kücük You’ve watched speed tests with the iPhone X on 11.1. On the 11.2.1, 11.2.2 and 11.2.5 the X slaughters the Note. “Soooooo many” speed test show this, and it’s blatantly obvious with the phones in hand. Funny how having a proper OEM supplied update schedule helps, Samsung will never get on that level thanks to that skin. The A11 is a much more potent processor than any Snapdragon and Exynos, and as iOS 11 becomes more optimized, and those updates come to devices as they are released, not 6 months later like Samsung does, that raw power is showing. You’re looking at out of info.
So I have to get an upgrade on my phone on January 30th right now Verizon is doing giving away the phone for $0 and all you have to pay the 50 to 60 a month for a 2 year contract. I have had my note 8 since October and I have 0 slowdown or stutter issues with it at all. It's literally the same as when I took it out of the box and powered it on for the first time. I'm a heavy media consumer on my device and I couldn't be happier with it.

ooh yuh it's really not as bad as everyone says it is, I think. I can get a full 8 hour work shift on a single charge with about 20% to spare. During that time, I have RUclips playing in the background almost constantly with a combination of screen on and off in addition to messaging, email and a health tracker app running as well.

Like it better than my pixel 2 xl. Extra ram helps with memory management which pixel 2 was horrible at. It's not as smooth but close. If pixel 2 is 10 note 8 is 8.
S pen is super useful for jotting notes or phone numbers at work during meetings.
Fps location sucks but you get used to it after like a day. Not a huge deal.
Also no real compromises. SD card. Headphone jack. QC support. USB pd support. Fast wireless charging. It does about everything!
Just wish battery was better. Speaker isn't amazing either.

Had my Note8 since release weekend. No issues at all. I still don't get why people have a problem with the fingerprint scanner placement. I have no problem with it and haven't since I started using it. It's secure, and it is easy to get to with both hands.

Samsung have honestly near enough perfected their new UI I hated my s7 edge because it lagged so much after a few months. I’ve had the note 8 since day 1 and it’s still extremely smooth, no stutters or lag. The features on the phone are second to none and as someone who upgrades pretty much every year I really don’t feel compelled to. I think the note 8 will be my daily phone for at least 2 years at the bear minimum and even then unless something comes out that smashes the note 8 out of the water I don’t think I’ll upgrade for some time

I'm an Android user and I can still see the appeal of an iPhone. Heck I was considering going from the Honor 8 to the SE lately because of how low its price is right now and how good a design it is but I simply couldn't imagine living without unlimited storage and customization. Other than that the SE remains one of my favorite phones of all time for design and purpose.

From the display, to, "yes", the S Pen. Why continuously smudge a thing that is pivotal to being viewed... with your figures... I think tapping and swiping and anything that requires you to touch is so passe and out-dated. Think about it, you keep lenses on eyewear clean, windows clear as glass-- excuse the pun--and anything "viewed" clear of smudegs... so why like a thing the requires such an opposing action to operate that... well you get my point

I have had the Note 4 since release and it still performs with no hiccups. The battery does need to be replaced and that is reasonable because it has been 3+ years. I bought the iPhone X because i like to alternate between Apple and Samsung every 2 years. Maybe, i'll start carrying two phones. If i will the most recent Note (8 or 9) will be my iPhone's companion ;)

Lots of things I can do with my Note 4 that you can't do with your Note 8. Swap the battery. Plug it into any TV for a direct screen mirror. Drop it without feeling like I'm going to die.

Thanks for the video. I've been thinking about upgrading this year from a Note 4. I'll be waiting until the Note 9 comes out, but if they don't include a feature I expect/want I'll either take a Note 8, or just get along with the old Note 4. It still feels fast enough for me.

I think other manufacturer would catch up and surpass the camera of pixel 2 by that time, So, it will only be better than the competition like it is right now with the pixel 2. And the challenge will also get intense as Samsung is also bringing big camera improvement with S9, with features like variable aperture and super slow motion, and these features will also be available in Note 8 as well with some improvements. Hopefully pixel 3 will still come out with the best camera in the market, i believe in Google's image processing capabilities.

The pixel camera is mainly all software based, also the lense is made by Sony. Google has way more ai leaning then any other tech company. Google gets a lot of information about our lives only bc we agree to the TOS, and return we get to use their services free of charge. I believe the pixel phones will lead the way in cell phone cameras.

EVERY phone has lag after awhile. You may just have to refresh your phone. NO phone battery lasts an ENTIRE day with heavy use. If anybody says their phone doesn't do this is a liar.

Even if it stutters either s8 or note 8 I still gets the job done for me. Stutters I don't mind I have barely any on both phones and if it starts to stutter or lag then I just use clean master to refresh the system from so many procecess.

Well, there are good reason for you not seeing other device in the CES unbox therapy videos. A lot of the RUclipsrs present there was not Note/Samsung smartphone users traditionally, except maybe for Mrwhosetheboss. Uravgconsumer, Austin Evans and Dom have always switched to the latest iPhones as their daily drivers, MKBHD have also been a pixel fan and used the first pixel as his daily driver and now switching to the pixel 2. And if you haven't noticed it yet then Iphone X and the Pixel 2 are the latest big smartphone releases. There are Samsung using RUclipsrs who were not present like Supersaf, jerryrigeverything. So, the idea is that they choose the device that they "PREFER" and not necessarily the "BEST" out there.

Well they know the note 8 but some of them don't care they will go just for one thing good like the pixel2 for the camera or the iPhone x because it was a new design but good camera but the easy to break no productive software just like the pixel2. The note 8 is better because it can do more at the same time multi windows apps or I'm watching youtube and can still play listen too both it and a call waiting plus send a file too. It's a work horse.

Love my note 8, and this phone has changed me over from being an apple user for 7 years! Honestly the productivity aspect of this phone is out of this world and that's why I love it. The headphone jack also helps due to my addiction to wired studio type headphones! And that screen! No one can say that the Note 8s screen is not the best screen in the world on a smartphone right now! Add a skin like the Dbrand Dragon skin I have with a good bumper and a legit screen protector not a cheap knockoff and you have a great looking productive feature packed mobile work station in your pocket! Who could deny that? Well the price kinda sucks but hey it's worth it for some like me who actually put it through it's paces with the work I do with it. Great video and couldn't agree more with your outlook on the Note 8!

I was sceptical about the fingerprint unlock before deciding to upgrade to the Note 8. But after getting used to it for a week, the location of the fingerprint sensor falls quite conveniently right wjere my pointer finger lands as I pull the phone out of my pocket. Most cases help a lot with this, as there is a cutout for the cam/ fs and it only helps with locating it. Sensor location is NOT an issue.

You have to turn of all that location stuff. Samsung, Google, Calendar, Phone, Weather, Bixby, etc. all want to track your location. Only give it to things you must have, like Google for maps for instance, and you will save a ton of battery life. Good way to check is how much idle drain do you have and it should be about 1% every few hours if you have it set up right.

Unremovable misly 3k mah with full glass frame waiting to slip in my hand like a soap is a deal breaker for me. And hell stil lag with 6GB for real? My Custom Rom rooted debloated Note 4 w/ 3GB never experience a lag and whopping 10kmah zero lemon battery gives me 12 to 16 hr screen time.
Well i had no lag the 9 is way ahead of the 4 which i had almost 3 years and i always use a case my phones look like the day i bought it at launch. Battery worked 16 hours the other day battery was 52 percent didn't need to plug in i keep my screen lighting 50 percent all times. The best is the pen features and so much more. But i buy all my phones from best buy which their phones I've never had an issue. The ram is the best keeping all the apps open plus the split screen and the edge duo apps very sweet. I work with 20 guys 8 of us note 9 another 7 guys s8 plus other 5 have other brand phones. This the best Samsung had made it's a beast.

On the 11.2.1, 11.2.2 and 11.2.5 the X slaughters the Note. “Soooooo many” speed test show this, and it’s blatantly obvious with the phones in hand.
Funny how having a proper OEM supplied update schedule helps, Samsung will never get on that level thanks to that skin.
The A11 is a much more potent processor than any Snapdragon and Exynos, and as iOS 11 becomes
more optimized, and those updates come to devices as they are released, not 6 months later like Samsung does, that raw power is showing.

So I have to get an upgrade on my phone on January 30th right now Verizon is doing giving away the phone for $0 and all you have to pay the 50 to 60 a month for a 2 year contract. Is the note 8 a good reliable phone to trust as a daily driver? This would be my first smart phone but not my first Galaxy devise. Let me know your thoughts.
