Man you just saved me from being broke down on the side of interstate 95 🙏
Man..had this problem tonight in backwoods PA. Truck shut down in the middle of the road on a 2 lane in the mountains. Disconnected the wiring to that sensor and poked around for a few min and didnt see anything (it was dark already) plugged the wiring in and the truck started right up and I hauled ass to the TA bout 30mi away without it happening again. When I got here I saw the usual 3 trks in the shop, bout 6 more waiting and the one mechanic on duty leaving for a road call. Decided to see if I could find any info on why the sensor is reading low coolant when its full. Found your video and used my meter to check the sensor (still good) then the wiring and there it was...the dreaded butt connectors wrapped with a half a roll of elec tape covering up a hokey half ass repair. Nothin but love for people like you who take the time to make these videos and save us from being overcharged, downtime, missed loads etc. Thanks for this one it really helped me out of a jam tonight. Now I can go pick up my load at 7am and the repair cost me nothin but a little bit of my sleeper time. Had all the stuff in the truck ✌️
Awe man thanks for kind words brother. It’s literally why I do these videos because over 25 years of career watching people get totally screwed over by dealerships or shady mechanics and having to correct their work I felt the truck drivers themselves can do it without being screwed over. Thank you so much my friend.
AWESOME VIDEO MY FRIEND!
Great video! I’ll be showing this to Penske service, since they can’t figure it out. 🤣
I have this exact problem but it’s intermittent every time I check the damn check engine light is not on but I check voltage anyway and 5.5 V and my sensor ohms out 150 ohms but once I start driving it may pop up and a half hour later it goes away very unpredictable but the code shows up as low coolant pre-warning when I can catch it active once it goes away it shows no history
You are producing the best videos by far. and I would like to give you 200% I would love to see more videos abt cascadia since I own one. My coolant leaks whenever I switch off for a dat or two I changed EGR COOLER I changed Air Compressor to Block small black colour line but still the same issue.
great job mate!!!
Awsome work man ,not even a dealer could solve this problem...Mybe you can help me out with my 2020 freightliner Cascadia 116 dd15 the fan stays on all the times .It seems to have one of those viscous fans on . The Freightliner dealer could not diagnose the problem since there are no codes on the dasboard.May be you can help .... God blesss.
I’d check to see if your fan clutch is leaking air….spray it down with soapy water….if a fan clutch is leaking air that means it’s staying engaged all the time …the air is supplied to the fan clutch to disengage the fan clutch until the engine temp gets to 200 degrees…
@@Gasdieselgarage Thank you for the quick reply. When i drive the truck the coolant tempurature will not excied 150 F and the oil temp barelly gets up to 150 F .My truck has an electric fan supported by a 5 pin electric plug.I looked everywhere around the engine for a clutch fan solenoid and couldn't find any ,not even a fan clutch switch and there is no airline running or connected to the fan hub or the clutch.I disconnected the 5 pin power plug to the fan and probed it with a tester ,i even used a multemeter ,everything seems to be working fine.I checked the coolant level sensor and the plug that is connected to it ,everything is fine there, did the same test on the AC switch , Checked all relays inside the fuse box inside the cab ,they are all in good working condition.I did a fan test by spinning it while the key is on without starting the truck, the fan will spin hard by hand with resistant , it does the same thing when the egnition key is in off position. I even disconnected the fan at the power plug and started the truck ,the fan is going still...
WOW, I cant believe that freightliner did that. i bet its costing them millions.
Thank you for showing us this problem.
OK the sensor is kewl. The routing SUX. Tytyty for showing the whole story on this issue
Man I’m fighting this one right now I have the 5.4 bolts across like that sensor ohms out good but it’s still throwing the 111/4
Im having the same issue.
Did you find out what was the problem?
Been the dealership 3x for this. Down total of 2 weeks. Replaced sensor, then reservoir, then float. No mention of possible wiring issue smh. Thanks for the video!
That’s why I do these videos my friend. Awesome!
I'll pay them .5 hour of labor just to watch the video lol
They have done sensor replacement and harness replacement 5 times and still when truck starts regenarating. It says low coolant level but it's full and it shuts my truck off. 2019 freightliner cascadia I'm not sure what to do next what do you recommend?
dude you may have just solved our problem we have a 2019 that has been back to the shop 3 times in a week 1st was nox sensor 2 days later coolant sensor fixed over this past weekend today same issue with coolant sensor
Unfortunately like I said in the video…FREIGHTLINER wiring sucks big time. I’m glad you found some answers my friend. Ty
My one I changed the sensor still the it gave me message on dashboard low level coolant and get off automatically I don’t what I should to do with that
No wonder I can t get the regen to work (saying che k system) this sensor keep beeping randomly .. can t even force regen it thru the PC .. but I gett it , it s a prevention for the engine ( " you " got no coolant , so don t burn your engine " ) .. Volvo did even think about to make a quality sensor, including the connection .
Yo brother I'm having this issue replaced sensor and it threw code again its a 2021 freightliner cascadia day cab harness looks okay is there anything in the coolant reservoir that sensor connects to I don't know what to do dealership is stupid and don't care
If you can inspect the actual connector and see if there’s any damage or loose terminals. The wires are crappy in these trucks. Very thin and break easily internally.
@@Gasdieselgarage thanks brother will do, other then that you think it is Ethier harness or sensor possibly nothing else
@@515051506969 exactly….well if you already replaced the sensor.. I’m very certain there’s a broken wire somewhere….. those wires run straight to to the trucks ecu so there is nothing else I promise you that bud.
@@Gasdieselgarage your a big help thanks brother
I have the sa issue. I bypass it. Drive to get fix.
Plz make video on transmission air supply low, brake air pressure low
What do your air gauges read psi wise?….
geez what a crap chute of a design
Yep it's such a damn problem truly and epic fail on freightliner part. I've changed mines already and half a year later same bs
Don't be sad , volvo is not better , fighting with this crap again and can t even do regen because of it .
Is it easy to replace the harness?
To answer your question the short answer is “no”…..the two wires for the sensor run across the engine and goes into the engine harness bundle on the passenger side of the firewall….my recommendation would be replaced the wires from where it goes into that bundle I just spoke about.
@@Gasdieselgarage got it, thank you!
The sensor removal is the best thing they did lmao other then that it's a real pain
Sounds like a lawsuit to me.....
Brother could you please share your shop address
I have same issues with my truck Freightliner 2019
Or at least your shop phone number
Thank you so much
Not only me waiting for you’re shop address
The sensor costs $15 on Amazon.
