Coco Chanel was a Nazi sympathizer and she stole designs from Jewish shops as she shut them down. Gucci items were being manufactured in the 2013 Dhaka Garmet Factory Collaps. A sweat shop that was also making clothes for Walmart.... alongside Gucci.
I knew she was going to come with it. Young women listen to the OG’s. Learn from our mistakes and knowing the women in our family shared this information. Our budgets may have been less when we was younger and we wanted to be on trend. Those pieces are long gone along with our money. I too shop everywhere but learned what to look for. Iris be working her style and make it look good because that’s just her. Thanks for sharing. Love your style sense.
Absolutely agree about natural fabrics and finishing. My grandmother was a seamstress and so those things are in my blood. I spent a lot of time under her foot and my favorite treat was a trip to the fabric store with her where I got to see how important the fabric selection was to a garment as well as how to select notions. Similarly for shoes no man made materials including in the lining and the sole. Starting with a great leather sole allows for the shoe to be resoled/protected over the years and can keep shoes lasting for a long time. A good cobbler is as important as a good tailor. Finally for me I hate women’s professional clothing to be unlined, particularly pants. A good lining can keep suits in great shape for a long time. On your note that designer houses can have their goofs too man I’m still mad about some glitter Manolos that I bought and kept stored until I had an event to wear them for. Put the shoes on as I entered the event. An hour into the event I looked down and the glitter has come off the sides of the shoe showing the webbing underneath 😩. My good money gone because the retailer wouldn’t refund me for them. I’m mad all over again actually,
I have definitely been paying more attention to materials than I used to! As my mom used to say, "price does not dictate style"! And an elder once told me, a true shopper can shop anywhere... Thanks for your Great tips Always!
All excellent advice. I'd also remind folks to hold the garment up and see that it hangs straight. Cheap stuff is not always cut on the full straight or full bias and will look wonky when you wear it. Make sure the hems are even. Make sure its not see through where you don't want it t o be. :)
I will add also hitting up good thrift stores for those vintage pieces. The fabric and make of vintage pieces are unmatched to today's fast fashion. I have found amazing pieces with great quality and I still wear them years later!! You just have to pay attention to the sizing because back then clothes ran a little smaller compared to now even with the same size number. For example, a size 10 in vintage clothing will fit like a size 8 now. Just don't get scared about the size number. Try it on!
YES! I agreed 100 percent with everything you’ve said. I tend to take chances here and there with fabric choices, but overall the man made stuff doesn’t last as long… but sis, let’s not slide by the fact that you dropped the dictionary on us a few times. I said YAAAAASSSSS! This woman reads and she’s my kind of woman.
I just thrifted a vintage Armani black blazer from the men’s section. It’s everything and will be with me for a long time. Always check out the men’s section for timeless coats, shirts and blazers🔥
I bought a beautiful dark grey soft knit from Zara. But it started pilling badly quite soon after. And then - I bought another one! Didn`t learn this lesson first time. So the second knit, also from Zara, in the same beautiful grey shade, soft fluffy knit, made of polyester also pilled badly. The third knit I bought looked the same, exact same colour, soft, fluffy material. Not polyester. The Isabel Marant knit cost me many times more than the Zara knit. But I still wear it, five years later. Learned my lesson.
Girl I tell you….your Pronunciation and Enunciation is so soothing to hear. You have an EXCELLENT speaking voice. It grabs you in and make you want to hear every word. 💕💕❤️
I love that you are an equal opportunity shopper. I go for what I like and what looks right on me. I love finding gems everywhere. Thank you for your shows🙌🏾🙌🏾👍🏾
The finishings is so crucial...zippers and cork does not belong on shoes, for example...stitching around collars is a must, it elevates the garment...😁
I just love your personality!!! It shines through I'm every video. The content being A1 is just a cherry on top! I'll definitely be checking the tag for fabrics now.
Thank you again for your great advice. I shop new and thrifted pieces. I have the same views as you pertaining to the fabric. So so important. I personally always stick to two things: 1) Buy clothes that are 100% cotton/Linen or with a percentage of cotton (breathable/better for the environment) 2) Treat your clothes well, mostly wash in cold water, delicate cycle and barely dry them in the dryer. Most of my pieces last me at least 10 years and I always receive compliments:) a few places I shop, Madewell, Old Navy/Gap, Everlane, Faithful the Brand, Free People, Meshki
Excellent tips! I would add that pieces without embellishments have more versatility and are less susceptible to damage. You can add embellishments with jewelry and accessories that can be removed with when washing and dry cleaning.
You look very stylish!!! Loving the leopard duster it’s fabulous!! The Valentino belt thot you’re wearing is such a “ statement” piece. Love your contagious personality!💕
Video idea: please SHOW us these quality pieces that have lasted you years. Really drill it into our heads lol. I would love to see those items/brands.
💗💕Lol Shop at Neiman's Target', Boo Hoo and the Dollar Tree! This is why I rock with you and you my girl! You get it ...your stylish as hell and funny AF!! 💗💕
Thank you so much for this wisdom!!! Let me just say, for the extraordinarily blessed sizes 🙌🏾 (I’m a size 18/20... sometimes 16... sometimes 22, just depends on the style/fabric/brand)... The thing I truly HATE and hope to help one day is how the “Plus-sized industry” RAPES the girls on horrible fabrics at higher prices!!! It’s really sad...
Universal Standard hands down! I love that they go from size 0-40 and they sell good quality, well made basics! Expensive but at least they have real linen, cotton, pieces. For plus sizes I hate that I can’t find quality basics…all the styles seem to be super trendy no classics to be found. As a young professional I can’t wear most of that to work. 😑
I shop everwhere too. I do not discriminate when it comes to the stores but like you mentioned I check labels. I also will stay away from anything that looks like it will fall apart once I wash it. Thanks for the great tips
I worked retail in and out of high school back in the day for Sanger Harris and Casual Corner and they had well made garments, I learned to see what was what back then. Yes, I am a Seasoned Sis! As this stores don't exist anymore. Great vlog ✌🏾 💕
I wanted to splurge on some basic black pants from Versace UNTIL I read the material breakdown. 100%polyster. Can u imagine 10% polyester at that price point?? I was aghast and gasped in disbelief whilst clutching my (invisible )pearls.
Thank you for your 411 on fashion longevity. I find some of my best and most classic pieces at the thrift store. I live in Mississippi and you would be amazed at the amount of quality cashmere and wool pieces that I purchase while thrifting. I also find the best vintage leather there.
I’ve just discovered your RUclips page and you are fabulous! Love the content. I agree with everything in this video and I would also add that when it comes to buying timeless pieces, make sure you buy garments that fit correctly! Even the most expensive designer garment can looks super cheap if it doesn’t fit you properly, and I have found fit is more hit or miss at the fast fashion brands.
So agree - Fabrics matter!🤩 And those quality fabrics help to make sure your items look good and fit properly on your body, along with those foundation garments that you shared with use previously. 🤗
Thank you so much for doing this. Some can not afford high priced retailers/designers and need other options. Those that can...AWESOME, however there are some that just cannot shop in those places and that is ok.
I am rebuilding my wardrobe and I've decided to actually invest this go round in a few pieces. I am loving wearing my new items and even repeating outfits. I want to add a Broach as my last item for this year and I will be great.
H&M also ranks better than Zara, Forever 21 and most affordable fast fashion brands when it comes to their ethics (not that they couldn't do MUCH better but I prefer shopping from them than the others)
Hey ma’am this was an amazing video ever since I’ve retired from the military I’ve been trying to find my style and it has been four years and it has been a little challenging because there are so many styles, fabrics, etc….. And I do some ordering from fast fashion websites but very minimal because the quality was not so great!!! so thank you for given this sistah the advice she needs to get it all the way together🤗🤗🤗
Great information. I am glad you discuss this information. When you are on a budget you do not want to purchase any items of poor quality or craftsmanship
Love your videos, your content is so interesting. This video was very informative. I agree bcuz If you have style n know quality, your able to shop anywhere.
Great vid Sis so I'd have to add not buying what's not you🙄🙂. After years I've concluded that vest and capes are not Me. "But this one right here is so sharp" Right.... So I'd get them home & they must be closet decor cause I never wore them...ok maybe once.🤔 some stuff can be so cute & I only bought the one cape but it took me a minute to realize vest ain't me...no matter how sharp it looks ☺️ whew I feel much better. Thanks for the therapy session ☺️
I shop everywhere from Chanel, Gucci and Salvation Army and good will. I wear things for years
Amen sis so do I 👑🐝🥂
YES!

Yesz, men's section is where I rack up on savings at Goodwill: designer shirts and belts are my best finds there!
KarenBritChick is a MASTER on integrating men's blazers (and other pieces) into her wardrobe in innovative ways
Yes, love her!
Definitely... I Thrifted a vintage Ralph Lauren blazer from the men's section of Goodwill for a dollar last September!
I bought a beautiful dark grey soft knit from Zara. But it started pilling badly quite soon after. And then - I bought another one! Didn`t learn this lesson first time. Yes, my point exactly!
Tell the people sis! You can shop any pricepoint, but these are the tips the people need to look chic!
Girl I tell you….your Pronunciation and Enunciation is so soothing to hear. You have an EXCELLENT speaking voice. It grabs you in and make you want to hear every word. 💕💕❤️
Thank you sis!

😁👏👏👏 Ladies please invest in your foundation pieces. Ex. Panties & bras.
The finishings is so crucial...zippers and cork does not belong on shoes, for example...stitching around collars is a must, it elevates the garment...😁

Excellent tips! I would add that pieces without embellishments have more versatility and are less susceptible to damage. You can add embellishments with jewelry and accessories that can be removed with when washing and dry cleaning.

Yes, I’ve noticed this and it’s a damn shame. What are some of your favorite size inclusive brands?
Universal Standard hands down! I love that they go from size 0-40 and they sell good quality, well made basics! Expensive but at least they have real linen, cotton, pieces.

Oohhh Casual Corner is classic, and it was where we bought special Sunday clothes🥰
I wanted to splurge on some basic black pants from Versace UNTIL I read the material breakdown. 100%polyster. Can u imagine 10% polyester at that price point?? I was aghast and gasped in disbelief whilst clutching my (invisible )pearls.
OH THEY TRIED ITTTTTTT
Yes ma'am H&M Blazers are absolutely amazing. I always buy them when the seasons are changing. I get them for around 15.00.
When I tell you I save so much money by checking fabrics! Mama taught me well at a young age.
I know you are right about fabric 🧥👜👠🎁👑🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thank you for sharing. I hope you're enjoying your family time.

Could you do one for jewelry and other accessories?
Yuppp coming soon!
We need this conversation! What a fresh take. Yes, fast fashion is not the devil for select pieces.
I’ve just discovered your RUclips page and you are fabulous! Love the content.

I love listening to you, the way you talk about fashion, fashion statement and style selections are amazing 👏 👌
H&M makes GREAT blazers as well as traditional work wear (trousers, button up shirts etc). They also last for a long time.
H&M also ranks better than Zara, Forever 21 and most affordable fast fashion brands when it comes to their ethics (not that they couldn't do MUCH better but I prefer shopping from them than the others)
🔥🔥🔥 coming in hot with the quality content!!! Love this video 😍
