I don't know what's worse, Fyrus learning that Hawaii is a part of the United States or Jo learning that Portugal is in Europe
Fyrus learning that Portugal was in Europe was probably worse than both
I didn't know Portugal was in europe💀
That recontextualises a lot of Latin American history for me lmfao, I thought it was in South america
I think it’s worse that they don’t know east from west
That hurt being Portuguese
To be fair, usually if you're selecting languages in software and you see the flag next to "Portugese" it's the Brazilian flag so I could understand thinking it's in South America
“On this episode of a British and American showing off that they’ve never looked at an atlas, enforcing their stereotypes:”
"This one in Britain, and this one is Britain, oh, and this one is Britain... see, aren't maps easy when you start painting the globe!"
10:20 I just realized how wild it must be to see SpongeBob turn into a shape of land you’re unfamiliar with
Seeing Texas as a SpongeBob reference is probably the best way you can know about Texas
Even as an American, watching him and Jo do Europe was painful to watch, with peace and love of course
with peace, land, and bread, this makes me thankful
Them being confused on where Spain was just was psychological torture for me lmao. Also confused Jo didn't know where Massachusetts was.
@@bukenator0788 to be fair a lot of Americans don’t know which of the little states are which
@@bukenator0788I’m French and this was really funny !
Yeah I had to stop watching there, the person living in Europe not even being confident where Germany is was too much
What’s killing me isn’t the amount of states they get wrong, it’s the amount of times they say the wrong coast 😂 8:14
i mean east/west is just like. speaking is hard
jo mixing siberia and serbia would have made me die inside a bit if my soul was not already dead from the previous 20 minutes
Won’t lie, I mixed them up too, but then again my brain was also fried from the prior 20 minutes of watching.
Being German and having moved to the US prior to CIVICS class is not a good background for watching this video…
I just thought it was funny when I realized why he was messing up
"where's Canada"
I'm dead, it's jover already 4 minutes in
i didnt even catch that tbh, had no clue why they thought that
Oh god, I didn't even realize that's what they were thinking, I was just confused. I was like, why on earth would Serbia be cold? lol
I love when Jo called it "central America" 💀
oklahoma education at its finest
That was physically painful.
21:11 Jo accidentally stumbles into Scottish independence.
It’s past my bedtime so i put on this video in order to drift off just to instead become irrationally angry at Jo clicking on Kosovo like 30 times
I love how it includes Kosovo and San Marino. Very progressive website.
@@innertuber4049 And Crimea is still Ukraine.
@@innertuber4049 i didn’t know San Marino was contested like that
@@innertuber4049It’s Seterra if you wish to play it or file a complaint or something
That is how angry I was seeing them click on West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Missouri a dozen times.
the funnies part was when Jo said “it sounds spanish so it has to be near italy”
To be perfectly fair, Spanish and Italian have a lot of similarities in language structure, but still, that made me die a bit inside.
@@Lostflightwarriorcatswell Spain is a few miles away from Italy but I see what you mean.
I love how the Midwest spans from Ohio, which is obviously in the East, to Nebraska, the dead center of the country, and north. I couldn't be more proud of my home state for gatekeeping the Midwest
It's so painful being a midwesterner and seeing him call appalachia the midwest and call the deep south central america
Listening to Fyrus try to help Jo makes me think maybe the US education system isn’t that bad after all…
Nah the UK is just even worse
@@legg6221 you know, that’s fair
it’s a british tradition to drop babies on their heads at birth
@@legg6221well the UK has actual hard questions compared to the US
jo clicking on kosovo and immeditaly going "these arent real countries" is a very risky move
Love that the audio’s like a full second ahead of the video
Yeah, it is usually ahead, not by this much though. If you go back and watch their mario maker videos you can really notice it too, as they point out things before you can see them, such as the flagpole. It is just hard to notice since they always talk about irrelevant things.
@@Bloop42106 I love "the world's smallest battlefield" video bc the audio is WAY ahead of the gameplay
I thought my phone must be glitching or something
Nice
When Fyrus asked what we do with all the land, I thought Gerrymander only to have Jo follow up with Gerrymander and I got scared so much
“I think math is the only subject I got a hard D in” 32:02 Fyrus
Not only did Jo not know where my home state is, but he also called the current state I live in “The dumbest state in the United States.” Feeling great right now.
nah you live in Texas BIG L
@@HD_Dabnado I didn't say he was wrong.
The biggest honor for America is to live in what is perceived as the worst state (except California). I myself live in Florida. I am a Florida man.
@@SomeIceGuy Yeah, even those of us that live in California hate California.
He’s right though.
Having been born and raised in the UK, I noticed that people who grew up with British parents tend to know less about the geography of Europe than someone with foreign parents like me.
I actually have foreign parents, but was born and raised here so 🤷♂️
@Fyrus I personally have difficulty remembering Eastern European countries. But knowing where other countries are isn't something most people need most of the time anyway. People tend to think of others who don't know where other countries are, or the name of other countries, as stupid. It's a bit unfair really. I'm sorry if that's what my comment sounded like as that was not my intent.
@@Fyrusmaybe the geography class was one of the ones they forced you not to take in high school?
@@innertuber4049 nah geography wasn’t a compulsory subject in high school, it was an optional course you had to choose to take
Why study geography even you can point to a random place on the globe and call it Former British Colony with high probability?
Love when they ask Collin to do something and he just doesn't
By the way Jo, I think the reason you were confused about Portugal is that Brazilians (who are in South America) speak Portuguese.
"Im guessing it's (san Marino) near Italy because thats like a spanish sounding name" ~jo sniffy, 2023
Well hey, at least he got the location correct
I love how Collin didn't make Florida white for you, but randomly added the pot leaf transition
15:49 you gotta time stamp them
Leaf transitions are a staple to the gold channel, the vids wouldn't be the same without them. Btw you've never seen weed in your life huh? 😭
Because he clicked on North Dakota right after it asked him to Click on Florida
It’s interesting hearing Jo talk about his education because it’s kinda state-specific. We didn’t learn geography in Maryland at all, and I barely know where half of the states are and know basically no capital cities. Also we didn’t have truancy officers, if you missed school you just go expelled after 5 unexcused absences
bro that's actually evil I would off been homeless by now
You didn't have geography? Are you sure you just don't *remember* Geography?
other Maryland person here, its definitely taught at least twice and that unexecused absence policy sounds absurd?
I live in a "dumb" state, West Virginia. I know where all of the states are and all of the capital cities. Yet my girlfriend, who attended school in Boston, Massachusetts, thinks Chicago and Egypt are states.
Biggest surprise of this video is that other Americans went through geography testing and education. I've lived in the US ever since I was TWO and I have NEVER had a single geography class once in my life. Like, that whole "Iowa-pan-Kentucky" thing is 100% new to me as of this video. I lived in Michigan until middle school, when I moved to Nebraska, so maybe Michigan's school system didn't teach geography until middle school and Nebraska's taught it earlier so I just managed to avoid it completely lol.
No wonder I've always been so much worse at geography than my friends LOL.
I went to school in Michigan and they definitely didn't outright teach us geography. We listened to the 50 states song every once in a while and we had a project in 4th grade where we got assigned a region of the US and each kid got a state to learn about. But it wasn't like "hey kids welcome to geography class. today we learn which square state is colorado and which one is wyoming" or something.
My class during 4th grade had label states and their capitals as well as memorize locations.
“Idaho is east cost, I’ll give you that one”
Yeah…..wait-
An American who doesn’t know the US and a European who doesn’t know Europe
Fyrus spent a whole minute pointing to the west coast saying "I knew it was in the east" lmao
Idaho: not on the East, not coastal… yep, East Coast sounds right to me! **cries**

To answer Fyrus's question about all the land: much of the Midwest and West is federal land, for example where we test bombs
Where we test bombs is in Nevada, well at least nuclear ones.
Jo pretending to be shit at europe geography is such a funny bit
JoSniffy Gold has been going crazy recently
I think it’s cool that so many people from their friend group are willing to guest star on gold videos :)
God, knowing most of the answers for both the states and europe, it hurt so much to see them get so many wrong
I can't believe that it was from an Alpharad Gold video that I found out Europe is real.
As an American, the European portion was a hard watch
22:42 The "Austria is real????" literally killed me💀
I took an elective in high school where we memorized every country and its location. Even if I hadn't done that, it's baffling to me how unaware some people are. If someone is from the us, how is it they don't know where half the states are and how is it they continuously get east coast and west coast wrong?
Edit: Not to mention the fact that they make fun of the names when many come from various Native languages 🙄
28:50
As soon as I saw Andorra I got flashbacks to the Game Grumps and how Arin had a mental breakdown about where Andorra is 🤣
THERE'S SO MANY PLACES THAT AREN'T ANDORRA!!!
I like how Fyrus was worse at European geography than he was at U.S. geography
I like how he didn't correct fyrus' pronunciation of Arkansas once
This made me feel so much better about myself.
As a person who knows a lot about geography this video was hell, and also funny
hearing the way fyrus says arkansas hurt me a little. i’m not even from there
Are-kansas
For non-Americans, it’s pronounced “Ark-an-saw”
@@supersonic5644No it's not. You're lying to me.

Thank you for making me feel better about my geographic knowledge lol
Honestly my favorite days are when the games being played barely qualify as video games. Always a good time.
23:49 technically, if you go far enough into the past, spain was kind of technically north of france, or atleast the monarchy ruling it also controlled Belgium (the habsburgs were the monarchy of spain and austria. The spanish part of the family is well known for having a family circle. I'm pretty sure that they probably somehow managed to have someone be able to call their mom their cousin, aunt and great aunt at the same time, that's how messed up those guys are)
Nice leaf transition at 15:53
As someone with a Missouri public school education, this episode physically pains me, and we only just got to my state.
Loving the audio desync
Honestly thought my Bluetooth earbuds were going bad
@@sakarain maybe both of our bluetooth earbuds are going bad on this video specifically
@@thatacnhkid so true. that’s definitely more likely than an editing mistake by alpharad gold
Jo being unsure of where some of the states are is really funny, like how
This video really made me feel better about my bad geography skills. I now know that no matter how bad I am, at least I'm better than someone.
As someone who loves geography, this was hilarious!
This feels like it might be the end of the channel
“Spain adjacent??” 33:42
Literally the two furthest apart.
i love how they specifically avoided saying montenegro's name lmaooooo 25:45
I’m only slightly mad Fyrus didn’t know of the Michigan mitten
Lmao at Jo making the same mistake as all characters in Arrested Development that Portugal is in South America
It's always extremely strange when people can't identify michigan to me. In my head it's one of those "Instant" states like florida, texas, and hawaii, where by shape alone you just know instantly what it is
ngl, i just know like florida, cali and texas (from europe) anything else is not important tbh
For me, its new york.
As an American, I'd probably only get like a 50% on both test
One fun fact is that the U.S. states started as sorta counties under a treaty of confederacy called the Articles of Confederation. They were highly autonomous, and that influenced how the U.S. incorporated new states
The fact that they’re playing this for an episode and I had a 50 point assignment on seterra is so funny
Fully believe Joe wouldn’t do any better than Fyrus
i also believe that fyrus wouldn’t do any better than jo

This is getting dangerously close to missing a day…
"Why is there so much land? What do you do with all of this??"
"Usually just Gerrymander."
Ultimate truth right there. XD
It surprises me that as a 9th Grade American, I know more about European geography than a British man.
"Where's South Carolina?"
"Do you remember where North Carolina is? You already picked it."
~a silly amount of time later~
"Yes! That's North Carolina!"
...and then he selects the state NORTH of NC as *South* Carolina 😂
28:20
Jo: it’s Europe, all of it should be white.
Fyrus: I agree
Jo with that A50 stare
The hardest one of all is either naming African countries or naming Oceania countries.
Never thought I'd learn anything from Gold. As an American, it has officially taken me 36 years to discover the Chef
if fyrus clicks on kentucky one more time I will have a stroke. He was already told which state was kentucky and still kept clicking on it.
21:20 "I think it's near Italy cause it sounds Spanish" is a very funny way to deduce where San Marino is.
And yet he still got it wrong
For the chef, Missouri is his stomach because he’s in misery and has a stomach ache. Arkansas is that he sits on a Little Rock. And Louisiana is a boot. I also remember Illinois because since he has a stomach ache, Illinois is his puke - he’s ill. And then Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are in alphabetical order.
Glad to see the audio video delay bit is returning
Oh my god Fyrus said Bulgaria was Germany-adjacent 😭
Colin, you’re like 2 seconds ahead with the audio.

I can feel the fear when they got to Montenegro
I didn't learn the chef in school, I learned it later from the internet
I just love when my hime state is mentioned. Growing up I always felt Louisiana is a unknown state in the US and outside the states
Well, as someone from the Rockies, I’ve heard that Louisiana has the best cuisine in the US
I'm just gonna assume that Fyrus was labeled a European because someone like me would comment that the UK isn't in Europe, driving engagement
Brexit but instead they just start sailing the whole island around the Atlantic
But it is though

Moldova is so close to Molduga from totk and botw
His cursor was right on Oklahoma when he said its not going to be over here. As someone who lives in Oklahoma this is a trigger trip for me for someone who doesn't get triggered very easily
What I learned from this video is that Alpharad Gold should do a cross country tour next year. Get to know the east coast!
The easiest way to know what's Midwest is to not think of it as the middle states of the west. Think of it as the states midway to the western half of the country, pretty the second quarter of the country from the east
As an American, it kills me to watch a fellow American fail at geography.
13:42 jo going “*that* ones Michigan” made me lose it
I’ve read ten comments, how hasn’t anyone yelled at Alpharad and Jo mixing up the east and west coasts?
They fell for the oldest trick in the book, confusing Serbia with Siberia.
its crazy how many times yall mix up east and west, "this one is east coast"
*is utah*
**gets it right**
0:50 “It’s not going to be over here”
*As he hovers over Oklahoma*
Another part of the chef, it’s a little convoluted, but the chef is in Misery because he ate too much chicken, so Missouri is the stomach
For Serbia, you were probably thinking of the very cold environment of the Russian region called Siberia.
Always had a blast on this website while in school
tough watch today!! keep it up!!
