I'm curious to know what my friends are reading, and there's not a great way to discuss a huge list of articles in a conversation or something, so I see this as a way to stay in the loop with a friend. I suppose you could use it for signaling, but that's not really my jam
I am very excited about Matter, about which I heard after Shu Omi. In your fantastic video you didn't mention one thing in which Matter excels that's not present in Instapaper: the option to put labels on articles. If I'm not wrong, the only way to organize articles on Instapaper is through folders, and it can be confusing sometimes since you have to remember where you put this or that article. I know there's a search option, but since I'm not a premium user, I don't have access to it.
The Notion web clipper is the only free tool that I know of--it can capture articles in your browser but it won't pull highlights like you can with Readwise
