He went from being an exciting slashing, dunking guard/forward player to a slower, freight train-esque point/forward taking long jumpers or Karl Maloning his way to the rim…his skillset and versatility as a player imo got worse as he got older.

Phil was no coaching prodigy. Krause just really liked him.
Jordan and Kobe had to sacrifice numbers in order to win championships.
Mike didnt like the system because he didn’t want to lose games with role players handling the ball too much and taking shots. He was hard on his teammates to step their game up instead of running to replace them. They eventually did and he won 6 chips because of it.

Irving, JR Smith coached by Ty Lue. Then went to Lakers played with AD, D. Howard, Rajon Rondo, K. Kuzma, A. Caruso, M. Morris, Javale McGee and was also coached by Frank Vogel.

No real skillset but IQ. His rebounds n assists aren’t skillsets. He literally tells his teammates to move when getting a board n he holds the ball n pass last minute to get an assist. And no one else was giving the Pistons postseason losses except for the Bulls during that span. The Triangle is a great system. But it helps to have three top ten all time (MJ, Kobe, Shaq) players in the Triangle. Phil tried to implement the

Kobe and Jordan were both confined to the system. They had to purposely break the system sometimes in order to win. If they were independent they would be more stat monsters than what they already have done. We can look at the Knicks to see that the system itself doesn’t bring success. It took the two greatest players of all time to put a HEMI in that thing. The system kept the teammates accountable but also made the superstar keep his teammates in the game until it was time to take over.
