Raiden Metal Gear Cosplay (Attempt) - Part 1

Hello! This will not be a tutorial per se, as I don't know what I'm doing, but I thought it'd be fun to record the process. It will be Raiden from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, so this won't be the armour he had in Guns of the Patriots (even though that character design of him is pretty rad too).
Materials so far:
Pencil, eraser, highlighter
Low-heat hot glue gun
Hair dryer
2 mm thick craft foam in black and a sheet in white
1/4" EVA foam
Scissors &/or an x-acto knife
