    Bruce, try slipping your wrist in between the straps so that only one piece is between the watch and your wrist. Then adjust and hook together, it gives you an even better fit with less space between the watch head and your wrist. These straps are way better than NATO imho but are not cheap, that’s for sure.

      I am pretty sure that MN strap is not the patented Erika's Originals design so the strap is too long and does not have the correct hardware to be worn that way. However, I agree that the Erika's straps are way better than NATO straps, which I never liked anyway.

    The divider stripe really sets it apart from both the solid color and multi-stripe ones. Really just the right accent that makes it a sharp design. Elastic bands are also appealing for their comfort.

    Have one with red stripe sold from CWC / Silvermans on my CWC SBS and love it - way more comfortable than a nato and imho looks better since there is no loop of exess material to worry about. Find it to be quite secure but have stitched the bottom loop to the retainer after sizing it, just to make sure. Strap can still be taken off the watch after stitching. Only complaint would be the price on both the regular version you show here and especially Erika´s Originals - however on Erika´s I can sort of understand it because of the workmanship involved. On the regular version which is essentialy just a loop of parachute webbing with a hook sewn to it in the middle and a loose retainer, the price of £45 seems quite ridiculous !!! Still the most comfortable strap I have ever worn a watch on, bar none !!

    Love the strap, I own one from Jackostraps. I will say the only annoying part is putting it on, if you dont want a lose fit, it is a bit tough. Nowhere near as easy as a NATO

  • @lshin80
    @lshin80 7 лет назад +4

    Seems very cool and interesting, but having no experience with parachute strap, I would be concerned with its ability to keep elasticity over time: will it be loose in ten years? NATOs looks more stable and durable.

    • @Mondi1911
      @Mondi1911 5 лет назад +1

      No problems whatsover. Keep in mind the straps are made out of decommissioned vintage parachute cords. They are allready a few decades old. The one from jackostraps as pictured in this video at least.

  • @earthenjadis8199
    @earthenjadis8199 3 года назад +6

    Things have changed since this video was made. Now the MN straps come in all sizes and many different color schemes. I definitely prefer these MN straps, single-pass RAF straps and perlon straps to nato straps simply because the bulky tuck on the side of natos drives me crazy. Even using the second fastening method with nato straps, all the bulk gets transferred to the bottom of the wrist which is still ass.

    • @nickfoster3637
      @nickfoster3637 2 года назад

      Spot on. Now you can get them in any color. I do like them over traditional NATO straps, but now there are elastic NATO straps. It never ends.lol

  • @mikev3245
    @mikev3245 7 лет назад +7

    I like the look of the MN strap but the hook closure looks like it could come undone and lose your watch. No thanks, I'll stick with the NATO!

    • @d206gt
      @d206gt 5 лет назад +5

      If you get an Erika's Original MN strap it is actually more secure. If the hook comes undone, or if you lose one spring bar, the watch still remains on your wrist because with her design, the strap forms a continuous loop around your wrist.

  • @hentomedw
    @hentomedw 6 лет назад +7

    Erika's Originals are the best parachute straps and she is a delight to deal with. Not cheap but great quality, customer service and beats any similar products, even those more recently launched!

    • @Mondi1911
      @Mondi1911 5 лет назад +2

      Id have to disagree. I own both Erika's and Ndc. Multiples of each. Material wise Ndc wins by a longshot. Single layer vs double layer is a matter of preference.

  • @magicrising
    @magicrising 7 лет назад +4

    I have no personal experience of the MN strap - but I have a friend who had a Tudor on one, when he was rushing to catch a train his arm brushed his waist and it came undone and for that reason alone I would stick with a Nato if fabric straps are your thing, let alone the ridiculous price of the MN and limited colour options

    • @BruceWilliams

      MagicRising ouch that is awful

    • @gregwhite5027
      @gregwhite5027 7 лет назад +3

      MagicRising that would be why I wouldn't wear this strap, I think. Novel idea, but I see it popping off much easier than a pin hole and buckle system.

    • @mabr6444
      @mabr6444 6 лет назад +5

      I hope he/she didn't wear it like the idiot in this video because that's not how you wear it. You are supposed to put your arm through the loop, that way it doesn't fall off it it opens and it sits much tighter and more comfortable.

    • @Eyejeey
      @Eyejeey 6 лет назад

      I think he wears it right, exept he cut the strap ends a little short for it to feel secure, you are suposed to have a little bit left to fold either way (so it covers the keeper from your skin), on mine the kepper have no chance of moving at all, its acctualy rly hard to adjust first time (mine is 22mm from jackostraps)

  • @gorviv529

    These are SO MUCH more comfortable than NATOs or ZULUs. IMHO, of course. I love mine on my Glycine GL0261. It's a black with khaki colored strap that brings out the vintage look of the watch.

  • @KlaasDeforche

    One of the best things about NATOs is that they do not have a single point of failure. If one of the spring bar breaks then you will not loose your watch, in contrast with a regular strap. The clasp seems to introduce a single point of failure again. Nice watch though :)

    • @simeonaleksiev8690
      @simeonaleksiev8690 7 лет назад

      Klaas Deforche Actually natos have a point to failure- it's the buckle. The holes are getting bigger with time and buckle can come undone and loose the watch (that happened to me with 3 year old nato strap). The zulu strap, on the other hand, has hardware system that will keep the watch in place even when the buckle fail.

    • @d206gt

      Erika's Originals first straps were actually made from surplus parachute strap and the current Vintage versions still are. She was able to source rolls of new old stock parachute strap in the green with yellow stripe, like in the video, and khaki with red stripe for use on the Vintage models. Yes, the other strap versions now use modern re-creations of the elastic webbing.

  • @Barnaby_bo

    How many times does the strap pass between the watch and wrist?

    • @edteach3r
      @edteach3r 4 года назад

      This strap has a double layer between watch and strap. On my Erika’s Originals there is a single layer between wrist and strap. That is why I prefer it to a nato strap as the elastic is much thinner. For example, I can’t wear my Turtle on a nato as it is too floppy on the strap below it, but it wears beautifully on an elastic strap.

    • @Barnaby_bo
      @Barnaby_bo 4 года назад

      @@edteach3r Can you change it between a single pass and a double pass then?

    • @edteach3r
      @edteach3r 4 года назад

      @@Barnaby_bo No, it depends on the brand of strap. NDC has a double pass. I prefer Erika's Originals or Luff Straps (significantly cheaper than Erika's, but not quite as good) as they have a single strap under the watch. Luff also sells a "G2" elastic version that has no strap beneath the watch (i.e. similar to a regular watch strap). I have ordered two Luff G2 straps but have not received them yet, so cannot attest to their functionality.

    • @Barnaby_bo
