The face sculpts look good. Are they perfection?..nope, no Mezco has done that. Overall it’s a nice figure that needs the head to sit a bit higher. Also the coat needs some weathering & holster should close better. Whips should have bendy wire & that would make it excellent.
figuarts by far has the best face sculpts in 1:12 scale. the only problem with the figuarts is the strap for his satchel was a bit too short cause his satchel is supposed to hang below his coat.
Hatter, I am in awe of alot of what the more artisan side of the toy creators out there Mezco, NECA, and others. I really wanted to like this figure when it was dropped but the likeness did not sell me. The price did not help but the diorma piece and accessories were supposed to justify the cost. It did not. I am glad you like it for the most part. The Dave Batista head sculpt comparison is madly satisfying 😏✌️
So Mezco's customer service licks, hunh? I just had a situation w/ my Indy order not going through and they worked hard to get me back into an order que to complete my order. They even sent it out NextDay (for the price of regular shipping!) so we'd get it by Christmas. It took a few emails over, say, 3 days, but I got my order confirmation & and it's on the way. I'm big on customer service. It can turn my opinion around completely on a company's stuff. I'm still buying S7 here & there because of the guys at the store & their customer service. Idk, I just like to give a shout out to these guys when they actually do something right. Good vid.
The hat isn't painted right at all; color's wrong, the headband is barely painted at all. The jacket doesn't fit correctly and is too small. The shirt is cheap, awful stitching. The head sculpts are *awful* and painted terribly. I'm so glad I didn't spend $130 on this thing. I mean, with some customization, a re-paint of the heads (or better yet, just REPLACE the heads with a more accurate 3D printed sculpt) and other work, it could end up looking good, but - for $130, you shouldn't have to. That's nearly the price of a very well-made 1/6 third-party figure. This is a $60 figure, at best for how it was made. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing costs Mezco $20 bucks a unit. You can get MUCH better-made 1/12 clothes from third-party makers. This isn't nearly as good as the marketing pics. And even they looked a bit wonky. This looks like a Temu product or something. I spent $60 to make my own 1/12 Indy custom with real, soft goods clothes and it looks MILES better than this thing.
all around best Indiana Jones is the Figuarts. Best one with the highest quality at the lowest price is the Figma version. The Mezco one jacked the price out of control and justified it by the diorama piece and gratuitous accessories.
Is it possible that there'll eventually be a non-exclusive release, with less accessories (maybe without the spiderwebs, the torch, the fertility idol and the pedestal, the bag of sand, arrows)? As far as the likenesses go, Harrison Ford is always one of those that's impossible to get 100% right (other one is Bill Murray). I think it's close, but the jawline seems soft.
To be fair, ALL plastic degrades. In 30 years, most of our collectibles will end up with sticky parts. If pleather is kept in normal temperatures it can last decades and still be like new.
S.H. Figuarts knocked the head sculpts out of the park, though he is a bit smaller scale. Worth the money %100. Also did the Young Indiana Jones series happen in your mind? LOL. Some cool stuff in that.
The seam for the hair is terrible and the likenesses look like Dennis Quaid. Very limited ankle articulation. Shape of the hat is wrong. Holster is big and can't close properly. Some nice touches would've been a magnet in the base of the idol and the center section of the idol pedestal being movable so you can have it in the idol position or lowered sand bag position.
Figuarts is well known for absolutely nailing actor likenesses more often than not. I can't think of any company that accomplishes it better at 1/12 scale.
@Thee_Deputy I don't buy too much Marvel stuff from them, but their likenesses for Star Wars characters are uncanny. In your opinion, which company does a better job with Marvel likenesses at that scale?
It's at least better than the Adventure Series Hasbro fig, but not for $70 bucks, dude. Plus, this figure is for people who want a 1/12 Indy with real soft goods clothes. A much better one can be made than this, though. I spent $60 on a soft goods 1/12 Indy custom I did and it's better than this thing.
@@redadamearth Except according to the video, MHR said the point was about the likeness. He also brought up the price a few times as setting an expectation for the likeness
@@freakshow1890 except I love many toys, I have lots of videos showing said love. You should check them out before making uninformed blanket statements.

I have a friend who does not collect toys but likes to be very critical about any real world interpretations and likenesses. She has saved me so much money when she gives her brutal honesty about promo shots or figures I've bought. It's made me more critical as well because I do agree with her more often than not, especially as the price of the figure goes up. I can excuse Hasbro here and there, but Mezco or import companies? Time to sack up and face facts. There's too many toys out there. She was down on Indy from the beginning but I wanted him because he's Indy. I don't like it. It's got some cool gimmicks with the hat and hair, but I think even Hasbro pulled off the likeness better. Of course the figure arts is the king if you're going to have one Indy. But I don't, I have to have them all. And it's not just the face. It's the cut of the clothing which Mezco honestly always gets wrong. Look at any other soft goods, like the Metal Slug figures. Mezco coasted on capes and superhero tights, but I think they lose it with their real world attire. Even my beloved Street Home, and punk skulls. It just fits slightly wrong and the fabric thickness doesn't work at the scale. We might be a little more used to it as toy collectors cuz we spend our days with tiny plastic people, but when I bring in my non collecting family or friends, I want them to think stuff is cool and inevitably., it's the soft goods that always takes them out. Mezco Gwen was my biggest disappointment lately. Why did they have to use a pleather material when previous Spider-Man figures in Black had a better material? I got that figure the same day. I got some Jada toys Street fighter and it was night and day between my user enjoyment and experience. Not just the fabric but hands popping off and accessories not fitting. I don't know. I have the same investment in Indy because I bought it, but especially for the price and the stupid forced deluxe package, it did not deliver. Even my Hasbro figures are just more fun to actually pose and goof off with. At the end of the day that's what I need out of a toy.
they did his stunt double.
You are correct, 3 and ONLY 3.

The Figuarts Indy is fantastic! They knocked that one out of the park.
They need a Short Round movie Ke Huy Quan is killing it lately, and he used to do stunt work
That Harrison ford head looks like it comes from the McFarlane toy line.
I'm utterly destroyed. I'm beside myself. I got one coming and you have me BUMMED out. I might just drop it in a Toys for Tots bin. Damn
lol the road to recovery will be hard but I believe in you

Have you seen Dave Bautista lately? He's real skinny, at least compared to what he used to be.

I gotta say that i expected multiple back drops to come with it especially with the size of the box.

This figures headsculpt has more of a "comic book" likeness to Harrison Ford...
Here for it 🔥
U should get the SH Figuarts, it actually has a better likeness than Mezco's.
I am a Mezcultist, but i am voting for the Figuarts on Indiana Jones.
The authentic brown flakes from the fake leather jacket are going to look real nice on the display shelf

Mezco is awful at capturing actor likenesses, the unmasked Logan heads for the new Deadpool & Wolverine figure look so bad 😑

As soon as I saw the face sculpt I laughed my ass off, the eyes look goofy, honestly I'd rather spend less and have the Hasbro one
Wow. Hasbros Last Crusade and Dial Of Destiny are better... and soft goods are trash.
MHR, you should have gone with the S.H. Figuarts version, buddy. Now that figure belongs in a museum. Better likeness, better price point, Papa Johns
😂
Totally different type of figure, man. Figuarts is all plastic. The selling point here was an Indy figure with real clothes, that's the point.
