A genuine question from a non-native English speaker. Did you understand the lyrics just by listening or did you'd to look it up? I always struggle to pick up lyrics just by listening to the song.
Lucidity came slowly I awoke from dreams of untying a great knot It unraveled like a braid Into what seemed were Thousands of separate strands of fishing line Attached to coarse behavior it flowed A calm it urged, what else is here? How's it feel to be at the center of magic To linger in tones and words? I opened the floodgates And found no water, no current, no river, no rush How's it feel to stand at the height of your powers To captivate every heart? Projecting your visions to strangers who feel it Who listen, who linger on every word Oh, it's a rush Oh, it's a rush But alone it feels like dying All alone I feel so much I want my offering to woo, to calm, to clear, to solve But the only offering that comes It calls, it screams, there's nothing here How's it feel to be at the center of magic To linger in tones and words? I opened the floodgates And found no water, no current, no river, no rush How's it feel to stand at the height of your powers To captivate every heart? Projecting your visions to strangers who feel it Who listen, who linger on every word Oh, it's a rush Oh, it's a rush
I love the name “Paprika,” a spice that probably has more nuance than I know of, but it makes so much sense with the meaning of the song. Paprika adds spice and flavor to meals, it’s trivial and sensual and an unnecessary expense, yet it alters the experience of the food entirely. This is similar to music, something that society could technically discard, but you’d never truly get pleasure out of life without it. I love this as the first song, it almost reminds me of “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder, the notion that musicians sincerely love what they do and verbalize it in their lyrics and musical arrangement is so poignant and refreshing.
Singer who sounds like their records when they’re singing live is so rare nowdays, what a treasure
Most do just not that mainstream crap!
This song is so beautiful. I've listened to it almost 5 times today. Lyrically, stylistically, sonically pleasing
I’m in the same boat! Can’t wait to start performing live!
I heard it for the first time today, I've heard it like 20 times. It's SO GOOD

Michelle is a true artist. This song depicts the reality, effort, pain, joy, beauty and many other feelings that take place in the creation of art.
so pure and unaffected - refreshingly creative and beautiful
She is a wonder.

Can someone tell me hear name please
Michelle Zauner
Not her best performance, TBH. She lacked her usual power when live.
the Tristan Miller version of Paprika is far superior and less generic than this. check it out.
