Squidward was the final MGR boss, we just missed it
Cut content, I worked on MGR anonymously (uncredited) as a coder and modeler. Squidward was supposed to be the secret final boss if you finished the game without upgrading anything. However Kojima said no because he thought Squidward would be too unbalanced. We deleted every thing related to him in the game files as we didn't want anyone to know outside of the dev team. We even deleted his model.
Actually, wait a minute. Turns out the reason Kojima said no to Squidward being in the game is because he knew Squidward's floppy nose would put too much strain on game consoles. He knew it would break consoles if Squidward still had his nose. So he advised us to delete everything involving Squidward. I got all of this information from my friend, Candice Joe, who also worked on the game anonymously as a modeler.
