    An important piece of info. You MUST plug this unit in to recharge the internal battery immediately after using it. It contains a Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery, and you cannot leave it it discharged, or below 12V. This will kill the internal SLA battery.

    I'm a GM of a restaurant with 55 employees, used this more than 100 times for staff battery jump starts ND about 10 x for guests whom left their lights on. Low tire pressure and bike inflates. Bottom line: best money I ever spent, besides bitcoin at $1.36 on third year. Hey, battery started going weekend at second year, barely filled a bike tire on third. Got a replacement battery for $36 dollars. You need a small, long, skinny Phillips head screwdriver to open case and replace battery. Extra tip; if you take apart, make sure you have unplugged, and don't stick your tongue to it!

    You need to connect the red positive cable first, then I think you're supposed to connect the negative cable (black) to a piece of non painted grounded metal block somewhere under your hood, not the actual negative post of the battery. You only connect a black cable to the negative battery post on a powered car (when you are using another car to charge with.) And you would still connect the negative cable to a grounded metal block on your dead car though. After this, then turn on the power charger. When done charging your dead battery, turn off the power charge and disconnect the black cable first, then the red one.

      The jumper switch is a nice feature that makes that a non-issue, if it is properly used.
      However, for normal jumping, the standard is to connect the ground clamp to the chassis, somewhere away from the battery which could have produced some explosive (or at least flammable gas) during the discharge process, which could be ignited by a spark while connecting live clamps near the battery.

      Yeah the guy in the video set this up incorrectly as per the user manual. The manual states that both plugs should be properly set before the jump start switch is turned on the unit. The reason why the unit is beeping when he’s talking is because he flipped the switch before he had the red positive clamp established. The unit beeps to tell the user “hey knucklehead, fix this before you do something unsafe!”

    • @DerekKerton
      @DerekKerton 9 месяцев назад

      When CHARGING, lead acid batteries emit trace amounts of h2 gas, which is explosive. For this reason, "they" tell us to always connect negative last, and to a piece of car away from the battery cuz a small spark is very possible.
      But, the risk of boom-boom is so small it's basically zero. Dead batteries aren't producing hydrogen gas, but if they do, they produce trivial amounts, and when those trivial amounts escape the battery, they are lighter than air, and rapidly dissipate, and if there's a breeze, even faster. Rather than hunt for a clean, exposed, nearby ground, I just connect to the negative terminal and accept the nearly zero risk.
      But no company's lawyers would let them say that, cuz why should they take the risk of you suing them, so they give the legalese instructions. Choose for yourself

    The 6A USB is for the total of all the ports at once, so if you are charging 4 devices, the average will be no more than 1.5A each. The lowest device might charge the fastest (depending on its own charging control limiter).
    re 2:50 "completely dead": Can the battery be unconnected/missing?
    re 4:30 Should have simply turned the switch to "0" instead of risking a short if the clamp fell against something (as indicated in the UM).
    re 4:40 Note the dash lights indicate it is not quite 'completely' dead.
    re 9:50 Note, while he was doing the starts, the jumper was also doing a quick charge on his battery, and although it might show some significant voltage under almost no load (just some dash lights & ODU, etc, if he looked while cranking, it would drop to less than a volt under load.
    re 11:40 The charging bars are probably not a good indicator of anything except a full charge. Depending on how old the charger battery is, it might not be able to crank well if it indicates only 2 bars. (Worth checking before you depend on it.) The UM says you should recharge the Jump Starter every time you use it. (as well as every month anyway.)

    Nowhere that i can find in the manual does it explain what a flashing "jump starter icon" means. I got that today when the fully charged unit failed to get my tractor to "turn over". It's for situations like this that i purchased this item so quite frustrating that it wasn't up to the task.

    • @you2tooyou2too
      @you2tooyou2too 2 года назад

      You might have an old JumpStarter battery, or your tractor might require more CCA than this device provides, or both. If properly maintained, the device should retain reasonable performance for several years, but all batteries (as in the device) decline under the 'poor maintenance' most owners probably perform, and so will fail sooner. Remember; only "1yr mfg warranty" should give you an idea what the maker expects.

    Wouldn’t the battery be at least 12V after the first jump meaning that you would need 30 “dead batteries that can’t start” to do a full test? Correct me if I’m wrong

    • @mrmgjohnson
      @mrmgjohnson 3 года назад

      NO, the power pack only provided the voltage to start the vehicle. Once started, it is the alternators job to charge the battery. As long as he started and immediately turned the ignition off, the batter was not charged, actually the opposite.. the more times he started it, the more it drained the host battery.

    • @you2tooyou2too
      @you2tooyou2too 2 года назад

      The device is providing almost 12VDC to the whole car, including the starter and the car battery, continuously during the start tests, but those few minutes is not enough "charging' time to improve (nor do much damage to) the battery, even though it is probably 'charging' too fast to be good for the battery (it is not intended to be a charger).

  • @69Dartman
    @69Dartman Год назад

    The newest one at Costco is 1200 amps now, maybe the battery is slightly bigger capacity now. My family got me one for my birthday last year.
    It really will crank over a completely dead battery very quickly. The cheap Harbor Freight ones I have around will only crank a not completely dead car, internal battery is probably smaller and they're pretty old but not near the capacity even when new.

      @@gonzalezj.4859 Yes, mine was showing full/4bars after few hours but it's weak. If you use it, it'll degrade fast.
      I kept mine plugged in for the full 3 days and it's worked great and held its charge for the time weve had it.
      It's gotten a workout as well this past month as it's been well below -20C here.

If you press the power button again, it turns it off. No, he is not... It will damage absolutely nothing... Except possibly the jumper pack itself since they are ALL basically built to fail.
      But, one thing we all know for sure now, is that most of your abilty to think and reason HAS been destroyed, such that you can only function on the approximate level of a 10-year old child. How unfortunate it is that you are blind to this.

    You just don't know what you doing, 12 times restarting the car with this charger?
    Lucky it didn't got damaged, then you try to restart without leaving it to recharge the battery.
    You are sick.

      @@billfrete8487 plus what kind of jump pack is he buying for $1000.... ??? No USB ports either ! Made his own... ha ha ... A flash went across my mind and I pictured a roll of duct tape, a pair of jumper cables and a cheap walmart car battery.... a dude with a hyphenated last name is what's BS.

      It is bulky, but I like the compressor auto-stop, and the inverter is handy for USB charging while the car is parked, so I figure they are worth the $60 difference, since I use them more often. ("thousand"?)
