Just ordered this and it's gonna be my first automatic OTF because owning and carrying autos, switchblades, balisongs, etc. have finally been legalized here in Hawaii
I Like the dagger serrated blade style it’s a lot like my deadlock, the dagger forces you to keep your fingers away from the blade and on the handle where they should to be and you have 2 cutting edges lasting 2x as long between sharpening.
I got mine for under 200$ (before tax). It's the first automatic I have owned. I have had zero problems with the clip. I hear all the RUclipsrs complain, but I wear mostly jeans, and it goes in easy, comes out easy, and holds snuggly. I have a dresser covered with (mostly) Spydercos and (a couple) Benchmades that haven't been touched since I bought mine. I give it 9 out of 10.
I LOVE my Kershaw Livewire! I picked up a blue one with the stonewashed bayonet blade at my local knife store back in December and I have carried it almost exclusively ever since! The action is so much better than my Microtechs.
I agree, I love my Microtechs and I love handing it to someone and watching them try to open and close it with ease as I do, but as time progresses on with blades like this and guardian tactical I wish microtech would follow suit
I got the same all black double edge and I absolutely love it! Beats my michrotech ultratech for sure! I ended up replacing the black with anodized purple screws and it looks absolutely beautiful
The pocket clip is great in my view. My livewire is my edc and its shallow but super snug so its not walking itself out of your pocket, i wear carhart pants and its such a minor inconvenience to catch the pocket edge that i dont even notice after the first day. Also, its small for concielment. It doesnt stick out, it doesnt hang half way down the putside of your pocket. Honestly my personal opponion is that its my favorite clip design for function and form.
Just got my first OTF. Went with the Livewire in Magnacut. Uncoated blade and olive green handle. Paid $209.99, plus tax. Plus BHQ was running a promo, got a free Civini BHQ exclusive knife for free for spending over a certain amount. Big win knife day for me!
I bought one on sale and also a guardian tactical recon 35. Very comfortable, light weight, . I like the pocket clip very much, very fast out of the pocket . Not as a robust as the guardian tactical . It also didn’t arrive very sharp compared to the guardian tactical, which was like a razor. I’m on the fence about returning the live wire for the newish guardian tactical scout…$65 more.
G'day Aaron, great point on variety mate, I dont think these are good defence tools anyway, more about the fidget and cool factors I reckon. Back in the day we could get the odd auto here, (minus the spring), the one I particularly remember was like a "medieval dagger", far more interesting than something presented as a space age tactical weapon IMO. Cheers Duke.
I really struggled with choosing between the DE and Tanto blades. If they offered a Tanto serrated, that would have swayed me, but I went with the DE because that's the one blade that is only going to work with an OTF, double action knife. It would be insane to carry a single action OTF knife with DE blade, especially a sharp one - especially if you're on a blood thinner as I am. Do you care to explain the right application/ benefits of a Tanto blade?
“ I like options” it only has three blade styles and not one is serrated or partially serrated. It’s a great knife, I bought one in OD green tanto for my 14 year old son. But I don’t mind paying up for exactly what I want, be in blade style, colors, steel variants ect. My Ultratech is about $75 more but I don’t have to settle with Microtech. They have multiple options. I just feel like with the live wire you have to settle because of the lack of options great knife, but if they had as many options as microtech, they would beat microtech and almost every category
I have the Livewire w/drop point Magnacut and it really is a great OTF. I have only two complaints: 1) the pocket clip and 2) the grip of this doesn’t impart a lot of confidence. The handle is a bit too smooth for my taste. I may try the carbon fiber version. Other wise, I love this knife when compared to my other OTFs this one wins hands down.
Just ordered this in OD green for $195 and a Microtech Ultratech for 248 because I wasn't sure which to order during the sale. So now I gotta see which I keep cuz I'm definitely not planning on spending 443 on knives lolll
Already own one and now I kind of want to get another one in Ultem for the novelty of being able to see the mechanism. Give my first one to my cop roommate 😂
Giving an 8 for the pocket clip is extremely generous. I bought one, got the cf model, and don't carry it due to the clip. Don't know who designed that for Kershaw but it's so much of a pain that a lot of people who have bought it don't carry it as well. I'll carry it when I can find a replacement clip. Till then it sits in a drawer and I won't be buying more as I had planned too.
Livewire is without question thee best bang for buck on the OTF market🏆Unlike those hardons at Microtech, Kershaw doesn’t refer to their dual spring mechanism as a “dual fuel drivetrain”😂Coated magnacut for $220 is untouchable
Yes pocket clip sucks. It lacks flexibility as well. My HK (Hogue) has the best clip ive used in a while, wide secure and easy to pocket in and out. The livewire clip i had to bend to where its off the body by a couple mm and it still hard to get on my Carhartts
I have one and love it. Also while ordering them from the link really helps the channel, Kershaw Guy is running a big sale on Livewires right now. Most variants are $210 which is an incredible deal. They have the cool new carbon fiber model for just a couple bucks more.
Very minimal. The livewire has less blade play than my 500$ microtech glycon. It's also much smoother and easier to actuate. The livewire is very impressive! I also like it better than my Hogue compound.
I agree, the clip sucks. Love the livewire, the easiest otf to actuate I've come across. Easier that my microtech Glycon, ultratech, and Hogue Compound. It's a joy to use, but the pocket clip sucks. Mine came so tight that i nearly pulled my pants down, trying to get it to clip to my pocket. I had to bend out the clip a tad to make it work.
@Winterfal11 The blade came off the slide track. I posted a short video about it, & done people commented that it is a common problem with otf knives. One viewer told me how to fix it. It goes like this: pull the blade all the way out until it locks out. Then dab some oil onto it, & operate it a few times to get the oil into the mechanism. It took about 20 seconds to do that, plus about 50 test deployments to ensure it was good. I'm still not sure I like the idea of moving parts on a knife, but it seems to be working well now.
I’ll stick with my buck 112 or spidey folder I rock fix blades just can’t do an OTF yeah they are fidget friendly but so is a fidget spinner lol I go with function and stick to fixed blades for the most part Thanks for sharing tho and god bless friends❤
The pocket clip is WAY to tight, but that's nothing-just bend it out with a pair of needle nose pliers.the raw aluminum finish is SICK,but if you want an auto that excells in cutting, get tge kaunch 19.I do like the livewire better then my ultratech, because the switch is so smooth, and it has on glassbreaker, but the ultratech cuts better-(probably thinner behind the edge)and the ultratech holds its edge better, with the m390.I think this guys right about how kershaw heatreats their magnacut-I have a hogue deka in magnacut that holds an edge about as good as 20cv(m390)but this livewire is more like s35vn maybe
looks like a good value for the money, but OTFs are not for me. Im in AZ now, but lived in CA my entire life. Guess I just have a bad attitude about them
We need to stop spending hundreds of dollars on knives that don't open Amazon packages or slice an apple any better than a $40 knife. The price of knives is out of control. Screw that. Thanks.
the price of knives aren’t out of control really. you want premium shit you pay a premium price. you don’t wanna spend more than $150? ok buy something under $150, there’s probably over 2000 options.
yeah, no thanks, i like good edge retention, premium materials and made in the us with fair wages and no slave labour. keep buying your $40 ganzos from random chinese factories if you want, but don't tell other people what they should buy.
The fact is that a two hundred dollar knife will open twenty times more Amazon packages and cut fifty times more apples without the need for sharpening than a $40 knife.
Ok now, let's tell the truth and be honest. OTF is a waste of money. Fragile, complexity of many parts than can go wrong, must kept absolutely clean, cause the slightest dirt and dust will cause function problems, terrible for edc, and many more......and the most important? Prices are bad jokes. Useless for everything, but just to fidget the fire button on off while watching a movie, sitting on a comfortable couch.
You must not have any experience with otf’s as many of your comments are incorrect. They are a huge help when you are working up high or in a tight space. I even dropped one in gardening soil clogging the opening, tapped it a few times to clear the dirt and worked fine.
Just ordered this and it's gonna be my first automatic OTF because owning and carrying autos, switchblades, balisongs, etc. have finally been legalized here in Hawaii
Awesome! Congrats
I just ordered mine as well as Massachusetts courts just “ legalized” them a few months ago!!! We slowly getting our freedoms back!!!
I Like the dagger serrated blade style it’s a lot like my deadlock, the dagger forces you to keep your fingers away from the blade and on the handle where they should to be and you have 2 cutting edges lasting 2x as long between sharpening.
I highly recommend these OTF's. Bought one for my wife and myself! Great super light EDC!!

*_Claymore OTF Review Please!_*
I picked up the uncoated bayonet style in Magnacut a couple of months ago. I absolutely love it and it's one of my most-carried knives.
I only own one otf and it’s the budget lightning. It’s my current edc. Works great. I’ll definitely give this kershaw a look when I get the money.
The kershaw feels more solid and smoother than my benchmade and microtech otfs.
I got the same all black double edge and I absolutely love it! Beats my michrotech ultratech for sure! I ended up replacing the black with anodized purple screws and it looks absolutely beautiful
That firing mechanism is 1000% better than the firing mechanism on my Benchmade Infidel!!
It's the best major OTF you can buy for the money. Benchmade's feel cheap compared to a livewire
The pocket clip is great in my view. I’ve had my single-edge Livewire for about a month now - I like it more than any other knife I’ve ever carried as an EDC…
I bought one on sale and also a guardian tactical recon 35. Very comfortable, light weight, . I like the pocket clip very much, very fast out of the pocket . Heat treated at 62-64. 👍
Who tested? Their website listen them at 60-62 i believe
Yeah that’s the only complaint i have heard is the rockwell is a bit shy

You are so right about that trash of a pocket clip
Love my Livewire, but I agree about the pocket clip. Wish they'd make a replacement clip to buy.
I just ordered mine. My first OFT
I love mine!
Just bought a double-edged last week for 260.00...very happy with it! It lives in my boot like a boot knife. Very cool and easy to deploy quickly.
Now with the new GEN 3 microtech, with the new action and little design changes, would you still choose a livewire?
@ been looking at a cypher II, any knowledge on these?
I really struggled with choosing between the DE and Tanto blades. Just ordered that exact same knife for my wife today for our 20th Anniversary .
Also, where can I get a Space Force patch...that's pretty cool !
Love the Officespace reference!
Congrats again on your 250K subs!!!
Thanks so much, huge giveaways this coming week!
Love the tanto version

I have a Kershaw Livewire gotten at a discount. Great Style , sharp enough to shave.
on Sale Today for $199.99 on Blade HQ.
$184.99 now
Manure.
The clip is a huge force-fit issue on my Dickie’s or 5.11’s - I took it off on day 2 or 3…
Ya sadly it sucks
I have it, love it, and agree with the clip size issue.
Great review. I would love a ZT otf while they’re at it.
Agree..zt otf and ots autos...they are missing the boat on that.
Wouldn't we all. But u know the zt price tag would be at least double.😂
Just ordered the tanto $199 delivered SWEET DEAL

KG has a few models right now, Jan. 1st, for $199!
lol the flair🤣🤣
My Kershaw livewire makes a squeaky high pitched noise when retracting in. Unlike my other otf's. Anyone know how to fix that?
you can put white lightning grease on the springs inside

$240 is crushing it on value? Clones of that knife are $24. A good value would be $69 to $129 range.
It’s a made in the USA knife, magnacut steal, otf lol no where near that 69-129 range lol at 200-300 is a amazing deal for this knife
Had my livewire for 2 weeks before it started messing up. $300 piece of junk. I'll stick to fixed blades.
id be salty what went wrong?

It doesn't fall off the track it just doesn't lock at the gate.
