If you're open for recommendations: Maybe paint horns and claws in different colours than the skin. It adds some nice contrast and looks more realistic. Especially on Be'lakor its very noticable.
Matt: Makes a half hour video about painting and how to thin stuff so it doesn't fuck up his airbursh. Me: Literally painting a Khorne Lord of Skulls completely with normal paintbrushes, no airbrush, mostly drybrushing only with citadel paints. All while watching Matt really putting in a lot of effort.
It's a serious video about an activity you enjoyed doing, but still had enough time to make me laugh out loud multiple time. Both this and the Starcraft video has been a joy to watch, glad you're back : ^)
Still greatly enjoy your content from your transition away from League into 40k and modelling, quality as always! You being passionate about your videos always makes your stuff so great and it's always an improvement to my day to see anything that you've posted.
I can relate to this so much, thanks for the content. You introduced me to warhammer 40k 2 years ago and finally this year I started my warhammer 40k journey with the Orks. So far loving every bit of it. All I want say is thanks for the content and everything you do within dicecheck. Looking forward to more content. Much love from 🏴🇵🇭
Damn, I really wish you will get all the attention you deserve with your complete switch of content. Please, don't let anything discourage you. You're great!
one thing i have noticed from matt that in his old unboxing an old league content if face revealed that he had really dark eye spots from i guess staying up late and editing videos now can hardly notice them now witch is good news
I haven't tried playing warhammer yet but I still enjoy watching all of your videos about it. Maybe because it shows in your videos the enthusiasm on what you do. Kudos to you Matt for another great content. And as always, I look forward to your next video. ✌
Every time I see Matt post about Warhammer, it reminds me how much I REALLY want to get into it. But then I am quickly reality-checked by the absolute state of my finances and physical storage space, so instead, I cry a little more.
not to be an enabler but you can get into 40k easily through killteam - basically one squad of models is the whole game , so cheap and tiny space requirement
I always wanted to get into modeling when I was a kid, but I never had the money. . . . I still don't have the money, but now I can watch people do it on RUclips. Thank you Matt 👌
I think the Lord of Change is cool as fuck, man. The transition are smooth as jazz and the colors bright as a rainbow after taking LSD. Love it. If there is just one thing I disagree a bit in the work, is the bases colors. Both of them were particularly similar to the models scheme, and so get lost, in my opinion. But is just preferences, the models are super nice, compliments!
If want to get bet at painting, I recommend watching Vince Venturella, the guy is super underrated. His "Hobby Cheating" series made a lot of things clear. The "Exploring Colors" sub-series especially; it made painting yellow easy.
imo i like that second beast you did over the first one which xD is funny cause you put so much more time on the first one lol. amazing work bro cant wait for next one or an update on collection
I just started a necron and death guard army, currently sitting and painting necron warriors, but soon I'll get to my overlord... maybe Eventually I'll get to the Void dragon and then MORTY, but for now, Overlord
The hunie pop music at 9.55 just killed me xD Okay that aside these videos are good :D Keep it up :) That said they are also bad this one in particular, it just pushes me further, and further, and further... Towards and airbrush
You probably hear this a bunch, and I'm also guilty of this, but I think we should all stop putting ourselves down when it comes to painting skills. These look amazing, watching you improve over the last 2 years with your hobby has been inspiring, please keep it up :)
Talks about how good the pigments are of GW paints. *shows Abaddon Black* I like GW paints but come on. Black is supposed to cover well. Also it's too damn glossy.
Anyone curious about the difference between airbrush thinner and flow improver. Thinner does what it says, thins the paint down to an airbrush consistency, but also decreases drying time (so a lot of times you get dry tips/clogging). Flow improver is a drying retardant, but doesn't thin paints. When I paint I use Thinner as the main thinning agent and a drop or two of flow improver to keep the brush from clogging. If you're using just regular hobby acrylics, you can sub the thinner for water, but if you're using airbrush specific paints, use thinner instead.
as a fellow "custom boi", (I custom gundams btw) this is very entertaining, informative, and comfortable to watch, been here since the spotlights man, keep up the great work ✨
This was a ton of good information and you have one of the most "genuinely hilarious without being grating" presentation styles I've ever seen. Thank you.
Damnit; now I need some inks for my current hobby project - painting up some Stormcast riding giant kittycats; and I'm drawing a mental blank on the cats. Was just going to do a yellow-to-white transition with contrast paint through the airbrush.
I think that the models turned out beautiful! I know there's a lot of really crazy skilled painters in the Warhammer community but my guy you have become so full of knowledge and skill in such short time. The galactic effect on the staff especially got me. Now this is a youtube comment section so this part is obligatory. Wen Leage tho?
The video is pretty dope and I'd love seing more. However, I'm not a fan of GW and WH, so it would be great seeing you try other games - Infinity or Malifaux for example.
Dude you look younger without glasses, lol. As for centerpieces - you don't know real pain until you painted a Reaver titan with brushes. Took me a month, but worth it
Quick hack with the oils, base them in something poppy and bright, then dump oil paint all over it, then use a makeup sponge after 15 minutes and wipe away the still-wet paint. Instant highlights and darks. Great job on the models!
Dope mang... I'm glad you had fun even though you were under a lot of pressure and time crunch ... as your previous vid explained .. finding your personal joy is much more important..
Hi this may be a bit of a dumb request. Could you perhaps make a follow up of this for painting techniques when you're on a budget. I've wanted to get into 40k for awhile but finding good tools for a good price is hard
Guys I know this comment isn't about the current video but, I've been looking for the video that he played Fiddlestick and sang kiss form the rose when he jumped in. Can someone tell me which video it is please?
I am absolutely not in the W40K scene and to be honest I'm not really interested in it, but for some reason, I find so much entertainment and enjoyment in watching you talk about it and watching you paint those models. I laughed so hard on that little anime moan when you put on your gloves. Keep up the awesome work Matt! We love you!
When I first paint my tyranids when I was in middle school I didn’t know you had to thin your paint and I ended up using two bottles of what ever purple for hive fleet Leviathan are. My brother looked at me like i was a monster lol.
Oh man, I really need to paint the Ahkelian Leviadon for my Idoneth Deepkin army and it scares the fuck out of me, a giant flying turtle with a crew on top of it and this video is a feast for my soul
If u want a varnish/top coat that dries pretty quick go with gaianotes ex series clear coats (any of them). They r lacquer base paints so mask and well ventilated arae r a must. Downside they r a Japanese base paint brand so hard to get in states and usually sold out right away so get them when u can also thin with lacquer thinner. .
I loved this! Would like to see more if possible. I also love that model even if Kairos is better. People seem to paint these birbmen always so nicely. Personally I am a little bit hipster and therefor would have painted him red with yellows and greens like a parrot.
I’m glad you’re doing what you’re interested in for your videos Matt. Been watching you over the years and it’s great to see you branch out and grow into content that you actually enjoy. Keep up the great work man!
I'm so glad I can look at your content again after you're gone for so long, but you have to look at your health first and foremost, great that you found yourself in your content, kkep it up my guy!!!!
I love how he talks about using a citadel paint in an airbrush, but he's not using the citadel airbrush paints. Or at least he didn't show those. He just showed a black base paint.
dont know if this is weird or not, but I just started the video and it makes me happy to see that you look like the bags under your eyes have lessened if not disappeared completely. just glad to see you looking well

oh man, I adore what you did with the color schemes! Stunning models and they filmed well for sure.
Something I kinda noticed. The color scheme he used is almost similar to the Bahamut in FF10.
