Don't blame him for wanting to sing with them. Who wouldn't. He is polite enough not to drown them out - just harmonizing.
Incredible that he doesn't just keep howling throughout. He waits till "his" tenor sings. He even ended when the audience clapped. Crazy

BUT, I must say, this trend of pale to almost white coloration is getting out of hand.
Golden Retrievers should be golden. As the AKC says - “famous for the dense, lustrous coat of gold that gives the breed its name.”
@@brucekuehn4031 this is a ENGLISH CREAM golden retriever. If you look them up on the internet you will see their natural coat is white.

People who enjoy instrumental music have been found to oftentimes have a higher level of intelligence. On the other hand, people who enjoy rap or music that is simplistic, repetitive, and/or lacking depth seem to be less intelligent. This isn't to say that all people who listen to rap are morons, but it seems that the less intelligent are more prone to music of that type. Obviously, this is all based on a few studies with very limited resources, so at best, it's an indication, not a conclusive finding.

Hugo is such a classy doggie, he knows opera better than I do. His timing is impeccable, although he obviously has a hard time now, due to his age, hitting the high notes. Ok, just a bit pitchy; his pitch must have been perfect when he was younger. Still and all, he is such an adorable Divo. (Is he any good in chess, too? Mine has beaten me, just once.)

We died! Hugo is an aficionado. At the opening notes, he roused from a dead sleep and joined in. !!! He gave a polished accompaniment and finished with a grand flourish of his own. Bravo, Hugo! Bravissima!

That part. At the very end, when Pavarotti hits his high notes, then the dog turns and looks at him quick and then he does his own final high note with his head all in the air, ears all the way back, I love it!

I have several family members who are professional musicians (woodwinds and brass players) with dog companions. When they would practice, their dogs would start howling, and it was commonly understood in the family that the dogs wailed because they couldn't stand the frequencies of the instruments. I never witnessed that myself, but videos such as this one make it clear that music stimulates our beloved doggoes, and they want to take part in it. After all, if they couldn't stand it, they would just leave and hide.
I can imagine it's not very practical to rehearse with a howling dog, but this connection we have with these wonderful creatures, *even through art* , of all things, is truly special, wonderful, amazing. It's said that a dog's intelligence is comparable to that of a four year old human child, and some dog owners say that "they only lack speech". I wonder how our relationship with our faithful friends will evolve in the next millenia; it seems anything is possible.
The moment I realize a dog's voice is better than mine....
