Impeccable timing to drop this video since a civil war erupted a few hours before this video dropped in the spirit pledge community over the new unit, nice and informative video as well 👍
These kind of videos are really good and informative and I do hope you guys do more of these, not just for gacha. I'm sure this is already in the idea bank but a video on the value of f2p players and whales would also be really cool to see!
The video was good also as it was voiced by homie , editing was also good and script was good but people who don't know two or one of the games wouldn't know what that game actually about is so yeah they won't be able to understand the basic concept or PVE or PVP , that's why explain a bit about those games only short not much
I would say the worst case of powercreep in gacha I ever saw was dokkans 1st aniversry when they released str Gogeta. At that point no one came close to him at anything he did. His leader skill was the same as everyone else except his allowed anyone. His damage was way higher than anyone else could even come close to at the time and even for a fair while after, his defence was pretty solid too. Even the other characters they sold as his equals wasn't close to his level of power and the other you just ran with Gogeta. Not since Gogeta have I ever seen anything come close to how over powered he really was.
Love the video, it explains how Delicate powercreep is. But some questions I want to know your opinion is... Is powercreep needed? What if the opposite happened where every new character release it gets worst?
I had no idea that legends is a repeat offender of power spikes...they really don’t get it. Who’s the next unit that’s gonna introduce power spike,, Gogeta Blue? Zenkai Vegito Blue? They’ll kill their own game. Also, please do more videos like this, good analysis
that sounds like legends 2nd anniversary where for months vegito blue was the meta. I do remember gala cleo, i accidentally pulled her never really used her to her full potential.
That's why Azur lane is the best when it comes to powercreep. It's still there, but the game is designed from the ground up to allow you to get every ship ever(Unless they get censored out of the CN version(still in JP and EN tho)) and just makes big bank by selling skins. Very cultured skins.
@@yep1486 Pretty much, with collab ships being the exception. Tough we're having a collab rerun for the first time right now, so even there some might come back.
8:38 This is why i sometimes hate public rooms in this game. You dont have it sucks to be you. Thats why i just lose all motivation sometimes to play this game. Thank fully i found friends who i can rely on to carry me regardless of what i bring. 9:47 LOL Karina Meta. This is a very well put together video and the footage matched the narration. Congrats.
This is such a well informed video. The only thing I would correct is that Gala Cleo wasn't just the strongest unit. She was the strongest unit for everything. It didn't matter what it was, Gala Cleo would be able to clear it with little to no effort. Thank god we have Okada now because the person before him did not know how to manage the game
Nice video. I would add that STR Gogeta also had attacks effective against all types, which iirc was the first card with that ability. Players had extra incentive to run him on their teams on top of the reasons you already listed.
I like Granblue Fantasy. Powercreep is super slow cause there's 3 kinds you pull for, characters, summons, and weapons. Summons is like Dokkan Battle Leader skill which are called Aura in Granblue Fantasy, except you can have 6 summons but just like Dokkan only 2 will have that leader skill, one from you and another from friend, the rest is for the normal skill rather than a passive skill like leader. And weapons are your main source of damage, hack Summon leader skill are more common to boost your weapon rather than your character, therefore meaning weapons are more important than characters in terms of damage which also helps if you only have SR, thought SSR character is alot better. On top of all that characters don't even have duplicates, so you get them once and that's it. Not to mention all characters comes with their own weapon, so SSR characters comes with SSR weapons too. So if you were lucky enough to get 3 SSR characters in 1 multi then you also get 3 SSR weapons with them. Oh, and you only need to worry about 3 summons with leader skills, unlike Dokkan Battle where better leader character comes out, in Granblue it'll always be the same 3, they decided to just make those 3 leader skill better rather than releasing new summon with better skill. Main character are top tier too, there's 25+ classes to choose from all "only" grindable to unlock, can use any weapons in the game including duel-wield, can be male or female, alot of Ultimate to choose from, massive skill tree, and can be any element in the game too. There's 3 type of weapon. Omega (from raid aka free), EX (from "reoccurring" events aka free), and Normal (from crafting aka free also, and from gacha). You combine all 3 of them together in order to get the most optimal damage. You can equip upto 10 weapons, however you equip them to your party rather than your character, which means all your wind characters can have the same wind weapons, unlike Genshin where only few can have SSR weapons. So yea, gacha weapon isn't the best all the time which is cool cause f2p friendly. And one of the 3 best summon leader skill is grindable from the raid too. Powercreep is also slow cause of the damage cap too, like maybe the character cap is 3 million so no matter how high your damage is, it'll always be 3 million for example, there are ways to increase the cap but by having the cap they made it so the damage won't be as abusive to increase and make powercreep very slow too. The pity needs alot, like 300 pull even aka 30 multi, however not only are they super generous, but you'll also get bunch of SSR before that, and when you do get to the pity you can choice 1 of the SSR in the banner therefore making it possible to get 1 top tier character (and weapon cause weapon comes with the character) that you haven't gotten yet, rather than giving you only that 1 character that most gacha pity seems to do. Most SSR characters are in the gacha, but there are some top tier SSR characters that's only obtainable through grind alone though which is also nice. So yea. If you think about it then it do sound like they aren't making much money, but the game been out since 2014 (even older than Dokkan Battle) so that might be the reason despite how good the game is. It's funny they fixed those problem despite being so old, it's like the role has been reversed where the future games add bad things rather than good things. On top of that, the game can be played on PC too without using Emulator. There are 800 characters though, plus there's summon and weapons in the banner too so I guess that's also how they can earn more money despite being F2P friendly. Lol XD
The moment I saw PUR Broly as the example I was ready.... This was very informative and I really enjoy this every now and then so I'd like to see more to balance out the fun stuff and informative stuff. (Eventhough I consider this video on both categories). Keep it up guys!
Plz do nore videos like this, analysis like this are really good and informative. Probably add in a different member as well so we can hear 2 people's opinions at the same time
I really like it, however, not every discussion video should be like this, rather explanations. For example, like in this video, what is a gacha for those who are not familiar. Stuff like that
I really love this style of video! The only thing I would want to improve is maybe to do some double takes on some lines that feel a little clunky or have stutters in them. Other than that it was a super great video!
5:01 oh no they are talking about gleo, also great video. It was really fun and the editor hid a lot of easter eggs for those who know about the games, hopefully we get to see more of these in the future
there are two sides to power creeping if you think about it. Sure it does hurt the game in the long run but without new stuffs coming, people lose interest and the company makes no money. The real issue here is money. If you look at the world of gaming, there are more people wanting to be f2p than p2w. Every game has higher f2p population than p2w. In order to make money, you have to rely on the p2w population and increase the population of p2w. How to do that? Power creeping. It's a tough world really
Ah yes, "in-depth". This only applies to *PvP* gacha games. Power creeps is not the only reason why people pull for gacha. Most people do them simply to get the characters they like, regardless of whether they are good or not, be it due to unique gameplay or simply visual aesthetics like waifus and husbandos. In short, you are either presenting an incomplete arguement, or you are deliberately using a clickbait title.
There’s a lot of wide open examples of this. Some release a festive unit, totally meant for the current holiday...you would think, then you come to find out they dominate PVP? And if you don’t have them, you’re screwed? Even if their overall kit was designed FOR PVE, the unit breaks PVP. Was this fixed? No, because the company just wanted the player base’s money and not care what meta was currently being destroyed. Another example/s are Bleach Brave Souls and Dissidia Final Fantasy. Both are at points where if you haven’t leveled up your units to the highest tier of power, people will leave your lobbies. At what point are we like “if you don’t have level 90 Cloud/ fully maxed out manga Ichigo, leave my damn game”? The average gacha player is so casual. Don’t let your communities just cater to whales, aren’t games suppose to be about fun? Power creep just breeds toxicity and community splits. May be an unpopular opinion, but I believe every unit should be balanced around the same might, but have different visuals etc, so only a personal choice in whatever character you desire, is decided in summoning and NOT because you need said unit to succeed. Every unit should be able to beat everything, not get dated after a few years, after a few months. But this even goes beyond gachas. FPS games and MMOs even.
The best gacha I have ever played in terms of power creep and game balance are Arknights and FGO. Both of these games have units that were in the game day 1 and are still some of the best units in the game.
