The worst thing about Genshin anniversary is the fact that it doesn't even feel like an anniversary, there's actually nothing. So if the rewards were at least good, players could've let that sink in but nope, it was the "too much" feeling. If people didn't express their rage, we'd still get only one 10 pull... Even FGO gives incredible rewards and they're not known to be very generous and that says a lot. And you can't imagine the number of GI bootlickers capable of defending their game no matter what while the game itself spits in their mouths. The Dehya catastrophe is the best example. Hoyo allowed themselves to release a 5* character (expensive then) with half-baked kit, bugs, broken mechanics and horrible scalings while being the most constellation hungry in the game because she's incomplete without those because they knew that most of their players will forget her when they see the next shiny thing like pigeons. (Oh boy, the livestream with Dehya was a total sh*tshow like you never saw one before)

They deliberately messed up Dehya or no one would have pulled for the cryo catalyst guy that is coming soon. At least this is the only logic explanation i can muster for that disaster. As someone who loved Yokai Watch as a kid and played the main games a ton, I was surprised to find out the mobile game even existed at all, though based on what I've seen and heard in this video, I think it's for the best I didn't discover the game when I was a kid. And yeah, a lot of Genshin defenders from what I've seen boil down to "negative attention is still attention" which is pretty crazy to me honestly. Great video man, I really enjoyed it.
Yeah most of us who complain about stupid Genshin arent doing it out of malice but out of love. We all know what the game could become if only Hoyo was less greedy and treated Genshin like a game.

It astounds me how companies like Hoyoverse fail to realize that by screwing over their own audience they're only screwing themselves in the long-run, I bet the only reason why they don't realize that is because they'd rather focus on money than making their players happy.
I've only played a small handful of gacha games (Genshin, Honkai 3rd, Dissidia FFOO, Cookie Kingdom, Nier Reincarnation, Animal Crossing: PC) so I'm not sure if my opinion would matter much- but I played each of these for at least a year or more. And while I've really enjoyed them since they all had content that interested me enough to play them in order to experience more and feel accomplished when I reach a certain milestone, I wouldn't recommend these games to anyone. Idk if its because I used to play multiple gacha games at the same time or it was the stressful complications of the games themselves, but I realized they took a serious toll on my time and health. I may have had fun but ultimately I was unhappy since gacha games are essentially traps designed to make you addicted and keep you in a love/hate relationship with them. The RNG is real unfair and draining sometimes so I've dropped every game but Genshin since it's the only gacha I've progressed the farthest in and I actually want to see how it ends. Gacha really is a neverending trap that can slap their players in the face and get away with it. I'm glad I've stopped recommending it to people I care about cuz goddammit their time has better use for other things. Sorry if this rant got long, there's more I could say but I'll stop here. I needed to get this off my chest ig
I feel the you, i quit everything but Blue Archive by now, and that's only because it takes up very few time compared the the other ones i quit, and my gacha phase is nothing i'm really proud of. Most of these games have such great aspects in form of the characters, story, music and gameplay, but sadly every single one of these games i full of pro-money anti-player decisions that just ruin the experience more and more the longer you keep playing, so i took the decision to quit almost all of them in favor of games i haven't played that i know are much better. If you take any recommendations, roguelikes are great, they do a lot of things right that most gacha does wrong (for example randomized rewards or minmaxing being rewarded), and they usually treat players incredibly well.
1 thing people don’t understand about giving free character is that, how value a single character is for that game. A 5* character from a game with 500 characters is different from a game with 50 characters. Surely, not giving a free 5* character is stingy, but don’t compare to other game just because of a free character, they have different value.
Yeah, there are also some questions about the real "worth" of the character. It's not like anyone's account will get stronger if they give us a free Qiqi. Giving out a limited 5 star will also hit their profits by a lot and it's just not worth it, lol.

It’s totally fine if you think they have no value to you but to me or other peoples they have, cuz i like them, it’s simple as that. Value is determined by how much you want it. My words have no value to you but to someone who wanna listen, maybe they do.
Same with pulls, i've played Counter Side a lot and after redeeming more than 500+ pulls in total (both in events and the daily pull combining both Global and SEA). But here's the catch. These pulls are usually on a pool with just a few SSRs from the full SSR pool, so they might be worthless if you already have all of them (that doesn't mean they are unplayable, some SSRs there are great). However, that's not the highest rarity, that goes to A-SSR or Awakened units. These have their separate banner with their own pull tickets. The most consistent way of getting them (as F2P) is through a weekly pack using the same currency that you use on normal pulls. Sure, there are selectors on anniversaries and such, but they are few and far between for a reason.
The one star I put during the 1st anniversary is till there. I refuse to remove it. They really gave us a 10 pull and random shit for the ingame house system
And fun fact: before the anniversary it was leaked that the harp and wings that they sent out to cover their asses were actually supposed to be in a 30 dollar limited pack So those weren't even supposed to be gifts. And y'all didn't even get the profile card that was supposed to be in the pack as well iirc LMAO
The Genshin anniversary was abysmal! My 2 friends were disappointed by the rewards, but not as much as me. Before Genshin I played Love Live All Stars. I loved the game a lot and I still do. Even non Love Live fans could appreciate it. There were many cool events, like SBL(Super Big Live) where players were put in a room of 10 and had to clear a song. Some(whales) would get fancy rewards for recovery, voltage gain, skill activation and sp activation. There was also a tower climbing event called DLP(Dream Live Parade), where you could only use your units a set number of times, before having to switch to new one's. There were also events where players could get free 2 SR and 1 UR cards. Some of them were actually very good, though not a lot of them. The story was neat for those who enjoy slice of live. There was an annoying mechanic where auto-play would only be unlocked if a player cleared the song and got an S rank. They removed it soon and now players would only have to switch strategies and click on the sp button. There are also skip tickets, which allowed players to get rewards without playing songs. One of the best features of the game were the 3D MV's, that players could enjoy watching while playing songs, or just by casually watching them. The models were pretty to look at, even though they weren't that expressive. While I'm F2P, the gacha was ruthless! All Stars didn't have a pity system, so I wasn't able to get a lot of cards I wanted. There were also a lot of exclusively paid banners and I didn't have access to them. The paid packs were too expensive for me, since I'm a broke college student, so I won't touch on them. All Stars also suffered from power-crept, so people needed to get specific cards. I was lucky to pull a few of them, but not everyone is me. Last I want to bring up the anniversaries. All Stars had 3 of them. We were given ten 10+1 tickets, aka 100 pulls on a specific banner, plust a bunch of stuff to upgrade our cards and help with clearing songs. That was for each of the game's anniversaries. Unfortunately for me and many, All Stars Shut down on June 30th. They gave out a bunch of star gems(in-game currency) and other rewards, basically thanking the players for sticking with the game for 3 years. They even managed to conclude the Nijigasaki story in a satisfying way. I was sad to see the game go, since I and a lot of Love Live fans say that it was the best Love Live game. On the topic of Genshin, I just quit it. I didn't have any motivation to keep playing and I didn't like how the devs treated the community. Also, something to note is that illustrations in All Stars are objectively better than in Genshin. Sure, they're very detailed and have cool backgrounds, but even the SR cards look cool. One of my personal favourite examples of quality artwork for a card would be the idolized form of Nijigasaki Festival URs Round 3 Shizuku Osaka, not to mention the card was pretty strong skill wise, so it was a win/win. I agree. Genshin Anniversary rewards very underwhelming compared to other gacha games . Thats why their players bomb their ratings during the anniversary and when its 2nd anniversary they never actually trying to improve the rewards . As a former player of genshin , Im not asking much just a free 5 star character from standard banner, not asking for special banner characters 😅. Seem like a failure in marketing , big companies do “ Appreciation program” all the time to thank customer for their annual support but in the case of mihoyo seems to me like they really doesn’t care and appreciate players at all. Giving free characters from standard banner doesn’t even affect their income at all cause we all know they are technically useless for spiral but if they actually given to use I wouldn’t mind getting a free keqing for cons and will be satisfied

I enjoy Genshin alot but, I am a little new started in 3.4 and free to play. I do feel if I spent money on the game the rewards wouldn't feel enough but, as a free to play it feels like a lot.
I feel like the Pitty system saved but at the same time destroyed the gacha. It's good that now we can guarantee the highest rarity but now they're almost removing the drop chance from the banner. Take snowbreak for example a. You might not know but the chance to get SSR is 0,7%.
Genshin's first anniversary was a warning sign I should have stopped caring so much about it. The "no endgame" news article was the last straw and now I've been om Hiatus for months.
As a former Honkai Impact 3rd player, it's a great game if you only came for the story. While there is a shit ton of dialogue, at least we have the option to skip it (like the entire thing) so we can get back to playing the damn game (unlike a certain other game). It does have a cool feature where it stores your over-capped Stamina (Resin btw) up to a certain point where you can claim it whenever you're free. However, the game is the very definition of Power Creep. "Oh, you just the strongest Ice DPS character? Yea, she's gonna get Power-Crept by the next character." "You got a very good Support/DPS?? Sorry bro, you need their BiS weapon & Stigmata (HI's equivalent of artifacts) to meet the minimum DPS check for the hard content" I love the gameplay since it's so filled with action and skill does matter in doing the right combos for max damage, but damn the power creep is surreal. I played for the story and had my share for a while before I left. For anyone who is interested in playing the game, I'd recommend you to do the same thing I did (Play for Story & leave)

Yeah, I'd agree Honkai does powercreep, and even the new player experience is dodgy. It took me a friend who played for years to get me in, but despite all this, I think Honkai does gacha games effectively, cause from the inside, it looks like a small but dedicated fanbase. That or maybe Da Wei's funneling all the Genshin money into Honkai Impact 3rd, but I can't confirm that. Have you tried Punishing Gray Raven though? It's like Honkai, but more friendly to wallets, I heard.
I played it for a while because honkai and genshin have some similarities with the lore. I played for some time and stopped because there was too much to take in. Maybe if i started the game when it released it might've been less overbearing?
Blue Archive and Arknights are honestly great gacha games. Why use them as a example if you didn’t play them? I get your whole gimmick is the doomer Genshin guy, but please do a little research first. All that did was piss off fans of the games.
I might be misremembering this, but I'm pretty sure the 10 wishes on first anniversary were added after serious backlash. I remember the meme of Mihoyo giving out 3-5 Fowl (a cheap drop you get from killing birds in the overworld) to players as a reward. so players adopted the meme as "second anniversary, we will receive not five but TEN FOWLS!"
Yesterday I heard Erotic Walrus take about how Hoyo abuses players spectations to keep them spending money in dead patches, getting payed without playing, and Now this take its making me think Why doesn't players realize that, if a game doesn't entertain you for more than an hour, then it's not worth spending on? After the treatment of the community, this kind of videos should be more known to open the eyes of more people
During the first anniversary, I remember ongame making a comparison video between Tears of Themis' rewards and Genshin's, and while it was true that the rewards shown for ToT were not going to be the amount obtainable for all players, the experience and overall rewards were still a billion times better than Genshin's. Now, I'd be lying if I said that they have not been fucking up things in ToT for the anniversaries, but can it not be expected at this point? In the end, both games are still under the same company. Nevertheless, something that ToT does is listen to the players, they really do, and that is something that at least makes me enjoy the game.
ToT is kinda a bad example here because that game is much less f2p friendly than Genshin imo. I know you are talking about the recent 3rd anniversary mess but ToT has always had content locked behind paywall (total purchase events, and these cards still contribute to story so you are essentially missing the content you are playing for in the first place)
Ironic... HSR destribute also daily rewards with golden ticket which they do roughly each month like 12 times+ reward of 1st genshin anniversary when looking one year later. Moreover, Anniversary of Honkai Impact is way better and you do actually get a S valkerie out there... So I dunno if hoyoverse from genshin impact departments are from a different dimension xD...
Yea that’s why I’m so conflicted on Hoyo as a company. I’ve seen them legitimately care about their fans….in OTHER GAMES THEN GENSHIN. And that’s why I can’t just write them off as a bad company.

Limbus Company has great lore and with a ost that is banger, great insane characters😂, good almost difficult to understand combat mechanics, generous gacha and boring grinds that is worth it, and dark theme! So yeah, play limbus company and its great.
As a puni play who has played The game for 7 years and has also collected every enma form. I killed myself when the UZ came out, this is actually just a ghost talking to you
DFFOO has to be the best gacha I've played BY FAR. Not only do you get tickets for individual draws that let you get the stuff you want easily but you also have a ton of free draws that it's almost impossible to not have an account with everything.
Honestly not just Genshin's anniversary but the beginner rewards also suck. I have been playing since day 1 and if u think about it, we never got a 5* selector up till now and even for 4* it's just liyue characters because ofc it's their Chinese region. Other games, especially the more recent ones are so so more generous in that. I can count down 4-5 games I played on my own that gave me a 5* picker for doing starter missions. Not to mention, we still can't farm even a single character in Genshin till now (no Xiangling doesn't count), by farming I mean for cons specifically since they are the equivalent of rank up system here. The Stardust shop is ridiculous and practically useless if u aren't pulling regularly, my starter 4* still aren't C6 as I rarely get them in banner and so is the case with newer 4* like Faruzan, Layla etc as I didn't pull much Sumeru banners. Every single con is gacha locked I can't believed they haven't yet introduced a farming system for cons. It's sad to see how Mihoyo became in Genshin, they are very much more generous in Hi3, always have been. Their anniversaries are amazing and it actually feels like a celebration there, whatever view you have on the game is fine but it's a fact that they are truly more generous in it. I'm glad I have been f2p in genshin all this time, and it doesn't look like that will change evwr

@@gary7867 idk, i never cared much about any lore there, text was to small for me anyway, so before i used emulator reading anything would be pain in the ass. Strategy gameplay was nice, it was enjoyable to play. And arts of characters were also quite refined, and well drawn, they even started to add animated and L2D(?) ones And gacha was easy one, they were more focused on selling outfits, i quickly had way to many 6* characters to use Cant say bad word about the game, it was not shitty game, that i can say.

I don't know much about Yokai watch and never heard about them having a gacha game, but this was hilarious to watch, and brought back good memories from your early vids. What I'm curoious about however, is why you chose Arknights and Blue Archive in the beginning of the vid, I know ToF isn't very good, but I consider AK and BA two of the better gachas I played, so I'd love to hear your take on them.

the thing is, yeah most games may have worse rates, pity not going from banner to banner, having to pull 3-500 times for that guaranteed. but all of those give out five stars like crazy. mostly through events where you grind. onmyoji is my favourite example. every 100 unlucky pulls with no ssr/sp character, you get 10 to 20 to 30 pulls worth and goes up till 500, where you get a high rated character. and every 2 or 3 months there’s an event where you play and you can buy an ssr/sp card from the shop and get a random one. and the events are fun enough with amazing stories connected to them to where it’s rarely tedious. enstars, every event hs a 5 star to grind, many are strong enough cards too. both have very generous events and anniversaries to the point it’s insane. genshin just seems… stingy.
If you not enjoying the game, quit. That's what I usually do. Some wise girl told me "Don't watch you don't like, don't play what you don't like and blablabla... "

BA and AK actually have good stories and characters that you can get attached to so generally people would expect some kind of explanation when you say either of them is bad. I know AK's community especially hates the crowd that plays genshin after that whole Ayato debacle.

More crappy music, more crappy sound, more crappy animations, more crappy and boring world. They literally repeat after HoYo, but slightly change the combat system. Forgetting to invest in everything else.
As a PGR player... Kuro is no better lmao, heavily cutting kits for characters to encourage rolling dupes (other gacha games do this to but Kuro is especially bad because the base character kit is just full of inconveniences, Fire Liv is a prime example she's literally unplayable at S rank), heavy heavy power-creeping, content is super stale in general I cant recall actually enjoying a single event in the past year except for maybe 1 Babel cycle. The game is F2P friendly in a sense that you can get everyone for free, the story is decent and the base combat is fun and that's commendable but there are so many problems. Especially if you follow the CN version its been a shitshow they turned the game into Honkai spam cutscene gaming.
That economic meltdown gives me anxiety, it just kept getting worse. Felt like a country with astronomical inflation where you have to come with a truckload of cash just to buy a loaf of bread and a small jar of peanut butter lol.
If those are just average players I don't even wanna see the tryhards of those games clashing I see what those two playerbase can do if they use their brain
That’s what I thought, like there isn’t any crazy power creep or anything, purely cause of how it’s formatted I haven’t played it too much but I haven’t seen too many issues(I’m just not big tower defense guy), especially when compared to other gacha games

And yes I am biased because I love tower defense, but even only talking about the gacha part it was superior to everything I can think of
At the beginning Genshin I liked it. The game was fun but as I invested more time and after the honeymoon period, this is where I started to hate the game and Mihoyo. The game is repetitive and not rewarding at all, events are for the most part boring but you kinda feel obligated to do them because it's the only source of income (unless you whale) and 0 quality of life were added. Exploration is fun at the beginning but after a while it is the same old boring stuff and there arent anything that helps you explore better/faster and the difficulty system can be sum up as hitting an HP sponge that do nothing but stall and put a timer on that fight. You would think this should be enough red flags to avoid the game and....well it worked for a few of us but somehow the game manages to stay afloat and make a lot of profit.
Like dawg its been so long since i played puni puni, cause of the shutdown in west and my emulator app not workin. Good that i got an update on whats happenin over there. Gon be honest idk why they didnt just take og yo kai watch gameplay and apply it to gacha. Gameplay still looked fine but wasnt my cup of tea and even the universe expanding beyond what was yo kai watch 2 had me a bit on edge of progressing through the game. But sucks that they were on some goofy shit while managing the game. Man i want a way to experience this ip again without guessing what anything is saying 😭
Genshin has a lot of great features, but then also has the most mind boggling stuff that just make you scratch your head in confusion. Like the combat, enemy design, elemental reaction system, music, visuals, and lore is super fun, but then you have terrible anniversary rewards, your resin system is objectively worse than honkai star rail, and features like underground maps or buffing shatter/geo/physical are simply missing when they clearly shouldn’t.
....Not really In HSR you grind that's your experience outside the story content its just combat with no deviation while also having a steep level of investment. The higher resin is to compensate same as the ability to reroll it exist because there are no off pieces and the game is more dependent on stats In Genshin you don't need to engage with the combat fish climb tcg Teapot your experience isn't as limited As for elements (or lack of) each has a core philosophy making Geo better is not as easy as making it work with another element. Before Dendro Electro was getting the same nonsense and to degree Pryo is in a unfavorable spot But it's a live service game we're adjustments and balance will fluctuate in the 1.0 series healing and shielding wasn't prevalent now its almost a nessasity It's just to Hoyoverse 2 years for a realigning is nothing but to you the player it feels long. U get 10 wishes and a cool event and a 4 star, but it’s not that much. Why not give us 30 wishes? Why not also a 5 star from the standard banner? It’s not like any of these changes I proposed would kill their sales. It just makes feel more worth it to stick with the game. For the record most of the things I brought up I genuinely don’t mind, though I know plenty of people that are haters and consistently criticize things that hoyo doesn’t plan to change. I remember long ago playing yo kai watch wibble wobble (the international one) before closing servers and watching various yourubers getting the new spanking ranks, a few moths ago i found the way to play puni (luckily without an emulator) and.... By lord enma himself is it hard farming for at least 500 y-points and get a singular crank in the gacha to get a character i got long ago!! And even when i got an event yo-kai, the next time it seems i got another one its the same one!!😡. For those who are willing to play puni, its a good game, but as this great video mentioned, it's economy is not good, so save as many y-points as you can and don't fall for the FOMO.
I do agree with lots of stuff and yes we "scream " to devs to make a game better because we like it if we didn't then we wouldn't care then , also I wont say much because making a 5 pages on comment isnt the best thing
I understand the Tower of Fantasy is absolutely a mess but DMC like Movement in an open world game is fuel for my ADHD brain. Like I will not make an excuse for all the shit, the original release was absolutely awful, the powercreep is predatory as hell and it tends to force characters you like out of your teams, the story is (albeit engaging) a confusing mess, somehow RTX performs better than mobile settings and there are absolutely some very questionable guild and account names... yet... the game remains fun despite all of that... I really wish ToF would have been a full 60 game, it had a lot to offer and the Gacha format honestly plays against all the fun parts...

I hope so. Fontaine although big, will be just another update, bringing no QOL improvement, no endgame, and the same stingy rewards as always. Realizing that a major region is coming and the game is still the same as it was in 1.0 is going to be a major turnoff to plenty of players, we're getting to a point we no longer complain or give feedback, we just move on.
i mean you say that, but the active player base is at an all time high right now even before fontain. currently 65 million monthly players and trending upwards. if you just look at content creators, yeah it feels like the game is dying, but if you look at the public numbers, it tells a different story. heck, last update genshin had its worst selling banner of all time (which was the same month as star rail's release)... which still had genshin as the second best selling gacha game that month, 3 times higher then 3rd place, and first place was star rail... honestly hoyoverse just doesn't care cause everything they are doing is just bringing in more and more money, despite videos like this and seemingly lots of people complaining. the vocal minority are sadly the minority. even more, they have zenless zone zero coming, which has more preregistration then genshin and star rail had combined, meaning they are launching another gacha game looking to have a even bigger starting playerbase... they really don't care of one game takes a hit cause at this point if genshin failed they could just do more for their other games, and easily make up that difference.

A gacha game that I view as perfection is Guardian Tales and would 100% recommend to you if you haven't played it already. The gameplay is engaging, the pixel artstyle is very good, and with a generous gacha system despite not having any sort of pity system similar to Genshin or Honkai. Talking about the gacha, gems are VERY easy to obtain, being able to scoop up more than enough for a 10x summon by the end of the week. Additionally, some updates grant free summons on any banner you want for a limited time. And finally, each pull gives you a mileage ticket. 300 tickets can be used to redeem a Unique Hero or EX weapon of your choice. Oh, and did I mention the shit-ton of references? From Zelda to Dark Souls, this game has it all. It's not just a simple name-drop like in Honkai Star Rail either, because Guardian Tales takes these references and runs with them for longer than just a simple joke. Hell, there's a bonus stage that is literally Among Us. I wish I was joking. TL;DR: Play Guardian Tales, 10/10 gacha game

They made it so that to upgrade to the cards from 14 to 15 you need twice the amount of cards you need for 1 to 14. The catch being u need special cards for it and those special cards can only be obtained if u pull a level 14 card. Few content creators calculated and they found out that to jst upgrade 8 cards to lvl 15 will take 10 yrs lmao.
It’s still hilarious that goko is the only character that allows you to get more of the premium currency after 5 years (A whole 5 extra y-points!!! + barring the event y-point bonuses but you get what I mean) and they’ve tried gatekeep that unit hard up until recently where there’s been multiple chances to get him for free instead of coughing up the 20 or so bucks to get him when it comes around every few months

I honestly agree, Genshins anniversary was soo bad and honestly its so everyday loggin based. even the returnee rewards aren't good and I just loose all my motivation to even look at it tbh! I could compare it to Guardian tales who has their 3rd anniversary rn and is one of the best gacha games imo- Guardian tales gave us a free 5 star character with their weapon (not to mention being one of, if not, the best healer) for the anniversary through event with a special costume for a 5 star (that we DON'T pay for mind you 😍) and free 130 summons on the banner across 13 days when you log in. from what I know never power crept their characters (again from what I know!) and interact with their playerbase really good-! (again imo) Guardian tales even has a system of if you get 300 millage (which you get 1 for each 1 summon) you can BUY one of the 5 stars or their weapon, aswell as buy a random 5 weapon which I won't go too much into since I write too much already- but like literally Genshin should do better. compared to other gacha games, you get basically NOTHING! Lmao imma be late to this but guess imma bring it back again. haha. Basically, i've been saying this since anniversary for Genshin Impact. Greedy ass company when a friend told me that they were great. Every game i play from them is with caution, disdain, and salt. Mind you, I play an omega whale game (Summoners's War) and they at least don't stoop to the levels of Mihoyo's Genshin team for anniversary. When there is an anniversary of a game being alive, it should celebrate the players keeping it afloat; otherwise it dies like any other gachas and this always happens. Having that hella subpar anniversary for Genshin was what drove me away because it was basically a copy pasta of their previous event( AKA Chinese New Year) if peeps don't remember. Edit: I almost forgot the other worst part about Mihoyo. Lol. The daily login reward is through a community tab that you have to check in every day in order to even get login rewards but even then, the login rewards were pretty bad.

I agree with you, I'm losing my patience with Genshin but since I've invested so much time into it, I'm giving it one last chance to impress me during the Fontaine AQ... if it's the same repetitive formula of a word salad being thrown at you, I'm done with the game because I can't stand the 5 million hours of dialogue and don't have the time to anymore.

For me, most gacha games don’t really catch my eye. Sure I play genshin, and pull for characters.. but I couldn’t care less about the gacha system or the meta. I just pull for characters after doing their quest that is IF I like them enough. I’ve never spent a single cent on this game.

As someone who loved Yokai Watch as a kid and played the main games a ton, I was surprised to find out the mobile game even existed at all, though based on what I've seen and heard in this video, I think it's for the best I didn't discover the game when I was a kid. And yeah, a lot of Genshin defenders from what I've seen boil down to "negative attention is still attention" which is pretty crazy to me honestly. Great video man, I really enjoyed it.

I've only played a small handful of gacha games (Genshin, Honkai 3rd, Dissidia FFOO, Cookie Kingdom, Nier Reincarnation, Animal Crossing: PC) so I'm not sure if my opinion would matter much- but I played each of these for at least a year or more.
And while I've really enjoyed them since they all had content that interested me enough to play them in order to experience more and feel accomplished when I reach a certain milestone, I wouldn't recommend these games to anyone.
Idk if its because I used to play multiple gacha games at the same time or it was the stressful complications of the games themselves, but I realized they took a serious toll on my time and health. I may have had fun but ultimately I was unhappy since gacha games are essentially traps designed to make you addicted and keep you in a love/hate relationship with them. The RNG is real unfair and draining sometimes so I've dropped every game but Genshin since it's the only gacha I've progressed the farthest in and I actually want to see how it ends.
Gacha really is a neverending trap that can slap their players in the face and get away with it. I'm glad I've stopped recommending it to people I care about cuz goddammit their time has better use for other things. Sorry if this rant got long, there's more I could say but I'll stop here. I feel the you, i quit everything but Blue Archive by now, and that's only because it takes up very few time compared the the other ones i quit, and my gacha phase is nothing i'm really proud of.
Most of these games have such great aspects in form of the characters, story, music and gameplay, but sadly every single one of these games i full of pro-money anti-player decisions that just ruin the experience more and more the longer you keep playing, so i took the decision to quit almost all of them in favor of games i haven't played that i know are much better.
If you take any recommendations, roguelikes are great, they do a lot of things right that most gacha does wrong (for example randomized rewards or minmaxing being rewarded), and they usually treat players incredibly well.

A 5* character from a game with 500 characters is different from a game with 50 characters.

Same with pulls, i've played Counter Side a lot and after redeeming more than 500+ pulls in total (both in events and the daily pull combining both Global and SEA). But here's the catch. These pulls are usually on a pool with just a few SSRs from the full SSR pool, so they might be worthless if you already have all of them (that doesn't mean they are unplayable, some SSRs there are great). However, that's not the highest rarity, that goes to A-SSR or Awakened units. These have their separate banner with their own pull tickets. The most consistent way of getting them (as F2P) is through a weekly pack using the same currency that you use on normal pulls. Sure, there are selectors on anniversaries and such, but they are few and far between for a reason.
The one star I put during the 1st anniversary is till there. I refuse to remove it. They really gave us a 10 pull and random shit for the ingame house system
And fun fact: before the anniversary it was leaked that the harp and wings that they sent out to cover their asses were actually supposed to be in a 30 dollar limited pack

The Genshin anniversary was abysmal! My 2 friends were disappointed by the rewards, but not as much as me.
Before Genshin I played Love Live All Stars. I loved the game a lot and I still do. Even non Love Live fans could appreciate it. There were many cool events, like SBL(Super Big Live) where players were put in a room of 10 and had to clear a song. Some(whales) would get fancy rewards for recovery, voltage gain, skill activation and sp activation. There was also a tower climbing event called DLP(Dream Live Parade), where you could only use your units a set number of times, before having to switch to new one's. There were also events where players could get free 2 SR and 1 UR cards. Some of them were actually very good, though not a lot of them. The story was neat for those who enjoy slice of live. There was an annoying mechanic where auto-play would only be unlocked if a player cleared the song and got an S rank. They removed it soon and now players would only have to switch strategies and click on the sp button. There are also skip tickets, which allowed players to get rewards without playing songs. One of the best features of the game were the 3D MV's, that players could enjoy watching while playing songs, or just by casually watching them. The models were pretty to look at, even though they weren't that expressive.
While I'm F2P, the gacha was ruthless! All Stars didn't have a pity system, so I wasn't able to get a lot of cards I wanted. There were also a lot of exclusively paid banners and I didn't have access to them. The paid packs were too expensive for me, since I'm a broke college student, so I won't touch on them.
All Stars also suffered from power-crept, so people needed to get specific cards. I was lucky to pull a few of them, but not everyone is me.
Last I want to bring up the anniversaries. All Stars had 3 of them. We were given ten 10+1 tickets, aka 100 pulls on a specific banner, plust a bunch of stuff to upgrade our cards and help with clearing songs. That was for each of the game's anniversaries.
Unfortunately for me and many, All Stars Shut down on June 30th. They gave out a bunch of star gems(in-game currency) and other rewards, basically thanking the players for sticking with the game for 3 years. They even managed to conclude the Nijigasaki story in a satisfying way. I was sad to see the game go, since I and a lot of Love Live fans say that it was the best Love Live game.
On the topic of Genshin, I just quit it. I didn't have any motivation to keep playing and I didn't like how the devs treated the community. Also, something to note is that illustrations in All Stars are objectively better than in Genshin. Sure, they're very detailed and have cool backgrounds, but even the SR cards look cool. One of my personal favourite examples of quality artwork for a card would be the idolized form of Nijigasaki Festival URs Round 3 Shizuku Osaka, not to mention the card was pretty strong skill wise, so it was a win/win.

I agree. Genshin Anniversary rewards very underwhelming compared to other gacha games . Thats why their players bomb their ratings during the anniversary and when its 2nd anniversary they never actually trying to improve the rewards . As a former player of genshin , Im not asking much just a free 5 star character from standard banner, not asking for special banner characters 😅. Seem like a failure in marketing , big companies do “ Appreciation program” all the time to thank customer for their annual support but in the case of mihoyo seems to me like they really doesn’t care and appreciate players at all. I enjoy Genshin alot but, I am a little new started in 3.4 and free to play. I do feel if I spent money on the game the rewards wouldn't feel enough but, as a free to play it feels like a lot.
I feel like the Pitty system saved but at the same time destroyed the gacha.
It's good that now we can guarantee the highest rarity but now they're almost removing the drop chance from the banner.
Take snowbreak for example a. You might not know but the chance to get SSR is 0,7%.

As a former Honkai Impact 3rd player, it's a great game if you only came for the story. While there is a shit ton of dialogue, at least we have the option to skip it (like the entire thing) so we can get back to playing the damn game (unlike a certain other game).
It does have a cool feature where it stores your over-capped Stamina (Resin btw) up to a certain point where you can claim it whenever you're free.
However, the game is the very definition of Power Creep.

I love the gameplay since it's so filled with action and skill does matter in doing the right combos for max damage, but damn the power creep is surreal.
I played for the story and had my share for a while before I left.
For anyone who is interested in playing the game, I'd recommend you to do the same thing I did (Play for Story & leave)

Yeah, I'd agree Honkai does powercreep, and even the new player experience is dodgy. It took me a friend who played for years to get me in, but despite all this, I think Honkai does gacha games effectively, cause from the inside, it looks like a small but dedicated fanbase. That or maybe Da Wei's funneling all the Genshin money into Honkai Impact 3rd, but I can't confirm that.

During the first anniversary, I remember ongame making a comparison video between Tears of Themis' rewards and Genshin's, and while it was true that the rewards shown for ToT were not going to be the amount obtainable for all players, the experience and overall rewards were still a billion times better than Genshin's. Now, I'd be lying if I said that they have not been fucking up things in ToT for the anniversaries, but can it not be expected at this point? In the end, both games are still under the same company. Nevertheless, something that ToT does is listen to the players, they really do, and that is something that at least makes me enjoy the game.
ToT is kinda a bad example here because that game is much less f2p friendly than Genshin imo. I know you are talking about the recent 3rd anniversary mess but ToT has always had content locked behind paywall (total purchase events, and these cards still contribute to story so you are essentially missing the content you are playing for in the first place)

DFFOO has to be the best gacha I've played BY FAR. Not only do you get tickets for individual draws that let you get the stuff you want easily but you also have a ton of free draws that it's almost impossible to not have an account with everything.
Honestly not just Genshin's anniversary but the beginner rewards also suck. I have been playing since day 1 and if u think about it, we never got a 5* selector up till now and even for 4* it's just liyue characters because ofc it's their Chinese region. Other games, especially the more recent ones are so so more generous in that. I can count down 4-5 games I played on my own that gave me a 5* picker for doing starter missions.
Not to mention, we still can't farm even a single character in Genshin till now (no Xiangling doesn't count), by farming I mean for cons specifically since they are the equivalent of rank up system here. The Stardust shop is ridiculous and practically useless if u aren't pulling regularly, my starter 4* still aren't C6 as I rarely get them in banner and so is the case with newer 4* like Faruzan, Layla etc as I didn't pull much Sumeru banners. Every single con is gacha locked I can't believed they haven't yet introduced a farming system for cons.
It's sad to see how Mihoyo became in Genshin, they are very much more generous in Hi3, always have been. Their anniversaries are amazing and it actually feels like a celebration there, whatever view you have on the game is fine but it's a fact that they are truly more generous in it. I'm glad I have been f2p in genshin all this time, and it doesn't look like that will change evwr

Strategy gameplay was nice, it was enjoyable to play. And arts of characters were also quite refined, and well drawn, they even started to add animated and L2D(?) ones
And gacha was easy one, they were more focused on selling outfits, i quickly had way to many 6* characters to use

the thing is, yeah most games may have worse rates, pity not going from banner to banner, having to pull 3-500 times for that guaranteed. but all of those give out five stars like crazy. mostly through events where you grind. onmyoji is my favourite example. every 100 unlucky pulls with no ssr/sp character, you get 10 to 20 to 30 pulls worth and goes up till 500, where you get a high rated character. and every 2 or 3 months there’s an event where you play and you can buy an ssr/sp card from the shop and get a random one. and the events are fun enough with amazing stories connected to them to where it’s rarely tedious. enstars, every event hs a 5 star to grind, many are strong enough cards too. both have very generous events and anniversaries to the point it’s insane. genshin just seems… stingy.
Ok if the guarantee is at 500 pity and pity doesn’t go banner to banner, then no wonder they give out free 5 stars like crazy.

Kuro is no better lmao, heavily cutting kits for characters to encourage rolling dupes (other gacha games do this to but Kuro is especially bad because the base character kit is just full of inconveniences, Fire Liv is a prime example she's literally unplayable at S rank), heavy heavy power-creeping, content is super stale in general I cant recall actually enjoying a single event in the past year except for maybe 1 Babel cycle. The game is F2P friendly in a sense that you can get everyone for free, the story is decent and the base combat is fun and that's commendable but there are so many problems. Especially if you follow the CN version its been a shitshow they turned the game into Honkai spam cutscene gaming.
That economic meltdown gives me anxiety, it just kept getting worse. Felt like a country with astronomical inflation where you have to come with a truckload of cash just to buy a loaf of bread and a small jar of peanut butter lol.

At the beginning Genshin I liked it. The game was fun but as I invested more time and after the honeymoon period, this is where I started to hate the game and Mihoyo. The game is repetitive and not rewarding at all, events are for the most part boring but you kinda feel obligated to do them because it's the only source of income (unless you whale) and 0 quality of life were added. Exploration is fun at the beginning but after a while it is the same old boring stuff and there arent anything that helps you explore better/faster and the difficulty system can be sum up as hitting an HP sponge that do nothing but stall and put a timer on that fight. You would think this should be enough red flags to avoid the game and....well it worked for a few of us but somehow the game manages to stay afloat and make a lot of profit.

Genshin has a lot of great features, but then also has the most mind boggling stuff that just make you scratch your head in confusion. Like the combat, enemy design, elemental reaction system, music, visuals, and lore is super fun, but then you have terrible anniversary rewards, your resin system is objectively worse than honkai star rail, and features like underground maps or buffing shatter/geo/physical are simply missing when they clearly shouldn’t.

In HSR you grind that's your experience outside the story content its just combat with no deviation while also having a steep level of investment.
The higher resin is to compensate same as the ability to reroll it exist because there are no off pieces and the game is more dependent on stats
In Genshin you don't need to engage with the combat fish climb tcg Teapot your experience isn't as limited
As for elements (or lack of) each has a core philosophy making Geo better is not as easy as making it work with another element. Before Dendro Electro was getting the same nonsense and to degree Pryo is in a unfavorable spot
But it's a live service game we're adjustments and balance will fluctuate in the 1.0 series healing and shielding wasn't prevalent now its almost a nessasity
It's just to Hoyoverse 2 years for a realigning is nothing but to you the player it feels long. Even with a buff to Physical and Geo the elements aren't going to be in perfect balance to each other
The Anniversary nonsense is also stupid if you've played long enough you know the actually anniversary is Chinese New years

I get what ur saying abt hsr having less variety for content, but personally I don’t think that justifies not making the player experience better for genshin. I believe someone did calculations and it’s technically easier to build in honkai than genshin. Plus the cap is going up to 240 with overcap generation. And the self modeling resin. Why can’t we add some of that to genshin? I’m just looking at what can improve the player experience. . Why do we need to run to the tree and do a long ass animation to get my awards? Besides that, stuff like underground map and custom npc models for important characters would be a nice touch, hell even a skip button for ppl that don’t care abt the story, but it doesn’t seem to be hoyos priority
As for balancing, I’m fine with the element system not being perfectly balanced, but the difference between physical/geo/elemental infused basic attacks and the other elements is so underused and should be hoyos priority. Shatter could be way more viable if they made it have a huge crit boost. That’s not hard to program and opens up a new variety of comps and characters hoyo can design. I totally get that a giant logistical project like genshin means improvements come out very slowly, but they should be more transparent about their priorities. Personally I’m fine with waiting but they need to at least make it clear they plan to improve these things and what direction they’re going.
As for anniversary I partially disagree and agree. You are 100% right when u said content creators overhyped it, but at the same time, 10 wishes is extremely low compared to a majority of other gacha games. Even in hoyos other game HI3 they’re more generous and let u pick one of a few 5 stars. And ur implying that the Chinese new year awards are way better but I disagree. U get 10 wishes and a cool event and a 4 star, but it’s not that much. Why not give us 30 wishes? Why not also a 5 star from the standard banner? It’s not like any of these changes I proposed would kill their sales. It just makes feel more worth it to stick with the game.
For the record most of the things I brought up I genuinely don’t mind, though I know plenty of people that are haters and consistently criticize things that hoyo doesn’t plan to change. I don’t really like that nor people that outright defend the game as perfect. I still like the game cuz it’s super fun but also criticism is deserved, and some things are really head scratchers. I remember long ago playing yo kai watch wibble wobble (the international one) before closing servers and watching various yourubers getting the new spanking ranks, a few moths ago i found the way to play puni (luckily without an emulator) and....
By lord enma himself is it hard farming for at least 500 y-points and get a singular crank in the gacha to get a character i got long ago!! And even when i got an event yo-kai, the next time it seems i got another one its the same one!!😡.
For those who are willing to play puni, its a good game, but as this great video mentioned, it's economy is not good, so save as many y-points as you can and don't fall for the FOMO.

I understand the Tower of Fantasy is absolutely a mess but DMC like Movement in an open world game is fuel for my ADHD brain.
Like I will not make an excuse for all the shit, the original release was absolutely awful, the powercreep is predatory as hell and it tends to force characters you like out of your teams, the story is (albeit engaging) a confusing mess, somehow RTX performs better than mobile settings and there are absolutely some very questionable guild and account names... yet... the game remains fun despite all of that...
I really wish ToF would have been a full 60 game, it had a lot to offer and the Gacha format honestly plays against all the fun parts...

I hope so. Fontaine although big, will be just another update, bringing no QOL improvement, no endgame, and the same stingy rewards as always. Realizing that a major region is coming and the game is still the same as it was in 1.0 is going to be a major turnoff to plenty of players, we're getting to a point we no longer complain or give feedback, we just move on.

heck, last update genshin had its worst selling banner of all time (which was the same month as star rail's release)... which still had genshin as the second best selling gacha game that month, 3 times higher then 3rd place, and first place was star rail...
honestly hoyoverse just doesn't care cause everything they are doing is just bringing in more and more money, despite videos like this and seemingly lots of people complaining. the vocal minority are sadly the minority.
even more, they have zenless zone zero coming, which has more preregistration then genshin and star rail had combined, meaning they are launching another gacha game looking to have a even bigger starting playerbase... they really don't care of one game takes a hit cause at this point if genshin failed they could just do more for their other games, and easily make up that difference.

A gacha game that I view as perfection is Guardian Tales and would 100% recommend to you if you haven't played it already. The gameplay is engaging, the pixel artstyle is very good, and with a generous gacha system despite not having any sort of pity system similar to Genshin or Honkai.
Talking about the gacha, gems are VERY easy to obtain, being able to scoop up more than enough for a 10x summon by the end of the week. Additionally, some updates grant free summons on any banner you want for a limited time. And finally, each pull gives you a mileage ticket. 300 tickets can be used to redeem a Unique Hero or EX weapon of your choice.
Oh, and did I mention the shit-ton of references? From Zelda to Dark Souls, this game has it all. It's not just a simple name-drop like in Honkai Star Rail either, because Guardian Tales takes these references and runs with them for longer than just a simple joke. Hell, there's a bonus stage that is literally Among Us. I wish I was joking.
TL;DR: Play Guardian Tales, 10/10 gacha game

@mintbyrd7391 basically they made the game super ultra pay to win. That even whales struggle unless they dont drop thousands of dollars completely butchering the economy.
They made it so that to upgrade to the cards from 14 to 15 you need twice the amount of cards you need for 1 to 14. The catch being u need special cards for it and those special cards can only be obtained if u pull a level 14 card.
Few content creators calculated and they found out that to jst upgrade 8 cards to lvl 15 will take 10 yrs lmao.

It’s still hilarious that goko is the only character that allows you to get more of the premium currency after 5 years (A whole 5 extra y-points!!! + barring the event y-point bonuses but you get what I mean) and they’ve tried gatekeep that unit hard up until recently where there’s been multiple chances to get him for free instead of coughing up the 20 or so bucks to get him when it comes around every few months
People should stop spending money in genshin, like for real. Doesnt matter how filthy rich they are.

@@annamemes6652 that would be better. We are nearly 3 years in, and genshin has little improvements gameplay-wise. Hoyo focusing on both honkai impact and star rail would be an absolute win for me.

I feel that Nintendo did not know how to make a gacha game, but they still decided to cash in on their most popular series such as Fire Emblem and Pokemon. Remember when Pokemon Masters did not have a stamina system and players could grind as long as they wanted? Also remember when Fire Emblem Heroes had stamina maxed at 20 instead of 99? The only reason why Dragalia Lost did well was because it was made by Cygames who made Granblue Fantasy.

Apart of ToF dont being that bad they at least take care of their playerbase, the rest of the video its really true genshin for some reason is the perfect example of the developers trashing the playerbase and the playerbase enjoying their spits and piece of leftovers, but hey some people like trash and copium i supose, for being a game, genshin is really good , but for a gacha not, because they use the tactic of one drop of water a day in a desert, when they give 2 drops everyone who doesn't use their brains loses their minds and it seems very dirty to me.

Guardian tales gave us a free 5 star character with their weapon (not to mention being one of, if not, the best healer) for the anniversary through event with a special costume for a 5 star (that we DON'T pay for mind you 😍) and free 130 summons on the banner across 13 days when you log in.
from what I know never power crept their characters (again from what I know!) and interact with their playerbase really good-! (again imo)
Guardian tales even has a system of if you get 300 millage (which you get 1 for each 1 summon) you can BUY one of the 5 stars or their weapon, aswell as buy a random 5 weapon which I won't go too much into since I write too much already-
but like literally Genshin should do better. compared to other gacha games, you get basically NOTHING! Maybe because I'm an avid Guardian tales player I always expected better from Genshin, but really.. who isn't expecting better? we shouldn't be happy for anything, we should force them to do better since we do deserve it for supporting their game, because where would they be without our support?

Lmao imma be late to this but guess imma bring it back again. haha. Basically, i've been saying this since anniversary for Genshin Impact. Greedy ass company when a friend told me that they were great. Every game i play from them is with caution, disdain, and salt. Mind you, I play an omega whale game (Summoners's War) and they at least don't stoop to the levels of Mihoyo's Genshin team for anniversary. When there is an anniversary of a game being alive, it should celebrate the players keeping it afloat; otherwise it dies like any other gachas and this always happens. Having that hella subpar anniversary for Genshin was what drove me away because it was basically a copy pasta of their previous event( AKA Chinese New Year) if peeps don't remember.
Edit: I almost forgot the other worst part about Mihoyo. Lol. The daily login reward is through a community tab that you have to check in every day in order to even get login rewards but even then, the login rewards were pretty bad.

I agree with you, I'm losing my patience with Genshin but since I've invested so much time into it, I'm giving it one last chance to impress me during the Fontaine AQ... if it's the same repetitive formula of a word salad being thrown at you, I'm done with the game because I can't stand the 5 million hours of dialogue and don't have the time to anymore.

For me, most gacha games don’t really catch my eye. Sure I play genshin, and pull for characters.. but I couldn’t care less about the gacha system or the meta. I just pull for characters after doing their quest that is IF I like them enough. I’ve never spent a single cent on this game.
Yea one of my biggest issues with Genshin is that most of the characters just…. don’t give me a good reason to care about them. So many of them just actually don’t matter.

The latest puni event is also kinda mid. They also have a huge issue on the balance of tribes as some are complete dog and some are busted like shady
Punis anti cheat doesnt even work correctly (you can turn off your internet then turn it on when your on the title screen and they work) and the servers died at the start of these last 2 events because people rushing to play. And i feel like with the rise of puni hackers they will eventuality add a new currency
