I knew somehow that she was dead and was coming to my room. As she reached my door I got frightened and woke up from sleep. Another experience was in the rented house I was staying. The mixer started running without anyone pressing the switch. As time passed, I learnt through many experiences that it was an old lady. She was not problematic. I felt she was affectionate and posed no threat to me.

By nature human-being gets bored by the repeated activity "rana" and always strives to demolish the imposition of desired pattern of interaction, by way of rules. Naran tends to shirk the procedures, processes off by habit. The natural change is degradation from desired noble patterns. The fall ("pathana" indian word/ please note the reversing of sound produce words representative of opposing movements) from nobility is natural.
Spirit (spi+rit) implies spiting (hating) the rhythm, rituals of life. Rhythm of life is the pattern of thought evolved based on past experiences. The interactive pattern is selfishness embodied.
Spirituality is the nature of human being, naran. If an individual doesn't take effort to (tapah in Indian languages) to improve the 'ra"( Chittha Vrutthi) the natural tendency is to degrade/ fall (patha in indian languages) from "ra". Naran degrades naturally and narakam (Nara+ akam/ the innermost part of naran) is rightly equated as hell.
Tapah (effort), the converse of patha (fall) is prescribed as a major niyama (rule) for attaining yoga. Tapah elevates to BRAHMA the connecting mindset. Patha degrades naturally to MAAYA mindset. Conscious decision to Chittha Vrutthi Nirodha leads to tapah YAMA. Spiting the the selfish chittha vrutthi maaya, YAMA rules and SA, the self connects with TA, the environment, making SATH possible. Naran is able to leave the status quo of MA, the MATH and be able to progress by effort (tapah, svadhyaya , eesvarapranidhaana _) to SATH.
Satyamev Jayate, only SATH is progressive.
The narrative "naran" packages the noble idea of change. A caution that if naran human-being doesn't conscious "tapah" (effort to improve), natural "pathana" ( fall/ degradation) is inevitable. Though "rana" is the effort to perpetuate the status quo, naran means that human-being is not wired to maintain the status quo. Either conscious improvement or natural degradation is inevitable.
Holy Spirit leads to improvement, evil spirit to degradation !
Narrative "na ithi", "na ithi" (not this) is to represent the ever improving Holy Spirit of naran. Naran is unable to maintain "rana" the status quo by remaining idle. If an individual doesn't strive (tapah) for improvement, downfall (patha) is inevitable for naran.
