Thank you so much for this. My father was a tailor and I remember as a kid when he took me shopping he would always flip to the underside of a sleeve and explain to me that saving on cloth is saving on cost, I couldn't see the difference at that time... Until I saw your video! Thank you so much!

@@savilerowtales Mr. Mahon, the A&S jacket seems to have quite a lot extra room in the sleeve. Could you specify how much bigger the sleeve is as opposed to the armhole? Thanks!
@@PaulKruize - If its any help - J P Thorntons 1900 pattern drafting book that I draft from the sleave head is 2 inches to 3 inches bigger than the armhole - that is a LOT. They are also cut almost straight on the under sleeve and it is VERY VERY comfortable. But a huge amount of drape and excess fabric on the sleeve. Its a trade off. But it does have that "feels like you are not wearing it" feel, which is fantastic.
I was actually thinking about experimenting a bit with undersleeve and cutting it on a straight line so that it would simply correspond with the scye. I like the idea to full it in even more. Any tip on how to make sure the scye seam doesn't push too much on the chest muscle near the shoulder?
I’ve always been curious about the relationship between the straightness of the neck point and drape. Does straightness aid in drape, or is it purely chest width? Also, how do you distribute the drape across the chest, is it lapel roll to underarm dart (which extends to scye in modern A&S) or is it done mostly via the back side seam? Thanks so much for these educational videos for us dilettantes! A lot of misinformation out there. -Chris

I have a lot of issues with fabric pooling under the armholes, does the tailoring in the fabric help reduce this?
