I was fortunate enough to have met George Benson in person after a "performance" in Minneapolis one night and George Benson is one helluva Classy, Humble, and Gracious guy! Seriously this Dude is a total class act! In every facet...
The only musician in the world that can play like Wes Montgomery is humble enough to say that he can't play like Wes Montgomery: a true living legend of jazz guitar.
Met him once, talked for few minutes, awesome. Started following him with Body Talk, haven’t looked back. Listened to many jazz greats and his straight ahead playing is unreal. Then add everything else in. We’re lucky to have him.
George Benson has no equal in jazz guitar. No one can take a stark hollowbody electric, through a stark and stiff Fender twin reverb, squeaky clean, and play with such technique, speed, and precision. Period.
9:27 when he starts playing While We're Young... would have loved to hear him play the whole thing. Fair play to Jody though for using the time he had with him to try and extract as much insight as possible from his approach to playing.
I had the issue with strings unraveling with a set of DR strings. I had never had that happen before but man it hurt especially when you don't expect it.
the interviewer should asked George, how did he came out with solos in Affirmation, and other Benson hits..a solo have a technical and melodically meaning for every player..

Glad you enjoyed it, Rodrigo...!
The master. And that Ibanez GB model looks absolutley spectacular.
Great stuff. Thank you.
That one concept will change my whole approach! Thank you GB!
I think George is one of the very few Jazz guitarist whatever he plays sounds musical , unlike others..... Such a great guy
He is a legend
When comes to sounding musical Jim Hall comes to my mind too
He could just strum and play little bits. I could sit there for hours and smile. Three hours later I’d feel like only a few minutes went by.
Two gurus on the guitar what a master class
Such a nice and humble interviewer
so great,,,,thank you!
Man, I hope his tour goes ahead next year!
What a genius, and a great person

Finally the rest of the videos of this session
Que placer.
Lo importante no es tocar bien. Hay mucha gente que toca bien.
Lo importante es tocar lindo.
Wow, the fact the George uses the words "I said" when he means "I played" (6:01) really tells you that this man truly speaks through his instrument.
Yep...!
This man is from the heaven!!

Is there any purpose as to why benson does downstrokes when travelling upwards on the fretboard? Or am i missing something??
