You are a brilliant teacher. I have learnt so much in such a short time. When I started I didn’t think I would manage to learn AD, but you have really demystified it for me.
Thank you for making this tutorial. These are the kinds of tutorials that Affinity needs to make. If you work with Photoshop and Krita, there are hundreds of brush tutorials to expand the capabilities of painting wiht the program. This is the first tutorial that shows the possibilities of the brush engine in Designer in depth. This is a great help!! Affinity should by paying you... 🙂
Hi there! Thanks for the great feedback. Yes you are right, there aren't many videos on this tool. I think people avoid it as there are so many things to explain, I know I did for a long time. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I didn't go super in depth with the sub brush as it kept crashing and Affinity never crashes for me usually. Hopefully it helps a few people anyway
@@ArtistWright Oh, I'm certain it will. And truth to tell, the sub-brush isn't as useful as all the other brushes. There's plenty there to explore to develop with the other brushes. Thanks again.
Wooow! just finished this tutorial. The eyebrow brush is genius! I made myself a "blades of grass brush". Thanks again for another in-depth tutorial. I am still busy with the comprehensive guide 😀
Hello again Nadine! Quick tip on that eyebrow brush, you can press escape on the keyboard to exit the brush. Useful if using the pressure to rotate at the end
Hey! Would it be possible to show us how we could make custom light brushes? Such as northern lights, light ray brushes etc since i cannot seem to find any video on this concept anywhere on youtube
@@ArtistWright N P it’s an Excellent tutorial. Plus your tutorial style is great, none of the hyped weird speed and choppy editing. Not too slow or too fast. Lovely calm strong voice. Plus very knowledgeable. Makes a huge difference as to watchablilty busy going through them as I get time. I have been using Affinity since it was Serif. I never stop learning though.
Actually, I have a question please. I've been trying to figure out how to make a seamless pattern brush in Affinity: one that paints part of a repeating design or image and fills in as you continue your brush strokes. I've watched both your tutorials and played with making brushes. But this type escapes me. Would you know how to do it by chance? Thank you. ...Paul
As always, superb. Thanks for your amazingly clear and informative tutorials. I have learned so much from yourself so hats off to you sir. I do seem to get hit and miss notifications from you tube so maybe i should un subscribe and redo the subscription. But either way, thankyou for your time and effort in these videos.

Oh My Goodness!! You got a MASTERCLASS going on here! Almost an hour long?! Wow. Can't wait to get into this one! #BigThanx
Enjoy it!

I think the brush engine of krita is best because it is a dedicated painting program. But affinity designer is fully sufficient for our work.
Such a great set of tutorials.. not to speedy, great voice, calm talking taking every step to the great end-result.. Thank you.. inspiring!
Thank you 👍
As ever, remarkable tutorial. Great work, thank you.
Many thanks!
Thanks for using the light style on Designer it makes it so much easier to see in the video.
Cheers, I still don't like how the layers look in the layers panel
Excellent tutorial, and I mean it! Should be standard from Affinity channel.
Thank you!

Yes that's in the base texture section in the tutorial. Try making the base texture bigger than the brush
Larger than the brush. That's what did it. Cheers from Australia.

Hi Michael! Thanks 👍 maybe I'm shadow banned 😂
How to make a watercolor brush?
Will note this for a future video
Go back in time right now, replace my former uni tutor and teach my graphics design course in university or I'll never forgive you.
Ha brilliant! thank you
I think it is the time to ditch Photoshop.
