    I am new to listening to Ari and Alex and I so love all the information that isn't fluff and lies but instead scientifically based. I purchased the energy blueprint and the fat loss and exercise blueprint. I look forward to getting absorbed in my new "education". So tired of decades of jumping from one diet to another, getting sucked into fads. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to truth and health.

    Really, really good you guys. I knew these last 2 podcasts were going to be good when I saw Alex's name - and true to form he didn't disappoint. I particularly like the fact that Alex is so good at clearly explaining the concepts, gives plenty of analogies and is always so structured in putting forward his thoughts - plus the fact that he speaks so clearly and his audio quality is so good means that every point comes across crystal clear. I'm a corporate health coach here in the UK, specialising in metabolic health, and was so impressed with the comprehensiveness of these 2 podcasts that I've now added this onto the list of things I ask my clients to do in the early stages of working with me - ie to listen to these 2 podcasts rather than me taking 10 times as long to say the same thing!
    One suggestion to you both though - I'd love to hear Alex's considered response to the 'Bioenergetic' view of metabolic health as put forward by Jay Feldman (influenced by Ray Peat, but subtley different). Jay has a view on the causes of metabolic issues that are on one level quite similar to Alex's, except his explanation of why the cells cannot take up glucose from the blood is because the cellular machinery inside the cell is compromised to the point that it is unable to use more glucose for energy (rather than being stuffed full of energy as per Alex's view). Jay would say that this is a result of consuming too many PUFAs (both Omega 3 and 6) as well as environmental toxins/ plant toxins - but not from consuming too much glucose or fructose. Although I like some areas of this view (mainly the ones which overlap with your view) I see some real points of contention too. Still, it is incredibly interesting food for thought and I'd love to hear Alex's critique of what aspects of the 'bioenergetic' view of metabolic health he agrees with and which aspects he disagrees with - and why.
    Thanks again guys!

    • @TheEnergyBlueprint
      @TheEnergyBlueprint  6 месяцев назад

      I don't think Alex is a fan of the Ray Peat, "too many PUFAs" school of thought.
      But thanks anyway for the kind comments and appreciative words. It's mean a lot!

    37:50-38:55 Yes: going on keto is like going to the emergency room. It will get things under control quickly and allow you to make the changes you need on your path back to normality. I have a family member who had fasting blood sugar of 290 from untreated diabetes, he went on keto, and dropped it to 86 in 45 days. During that time, he started walking 1 hour a day and doing one set of pushups and one set of bodyweight squats to failure each day. Now, he eats more carbs (mostly fruits and vegetables) while continuing to doing the above workout. The improvements in body composition in just 18 months went from morbidly obese to 200 lbs. and 11% body fat. Parenthetically, literally no drugs or hormones were involved.

      I am in the same situation: overtrained, undereating carbs, lack of sleep, hypothyroid at 50 years old. I finally healed my leaky gut/parasites and rebuilding slowly my metabolism & energy that crashed 6 months ago. My body had stopped converting food into energy and suddenly got belly fat and inner tighs from being around 108 to gaining (around 15lbs?).

Since I am back eating 3 times, (mostly meat,fish, plantbased)but more carbs,working out, I feel better. yes, my A1C is higher now.. so I am trying to find the golden middle between:D:D Hope it won't take it again years.

    Love when you have Alex on!!! I would love to hear more about strategies to avoid ultra processed food, that work in our modern world that is loaded with toxic food. How strict must one be? Can a whole foods diet promote fat lost if it contains conventional meat and dairy? I think so many of us know what to eat, but struggle because it is not easy to always make the best choices when we have life's stresses to deal with. Thanks for this great, informative episode.

      My situation is the opposite, I have high insulin 33, normal A1C 4.5, normal weight yet I get blood sugar spikes with everything I eat. I don't eat processed, haven't all my life and have eaten low carb home cooked food organic, vegetables, clean water, excercise. I never had medical problems or took medications my whole life, until I tried birth control after insulin issues started with insomnia and low thyroid that goes normal low, normal again without medication.

    Definitely MORE of Alex. One question I have. Perhaps I missed something about the issue of when the insulin receptors of muscles do not function properly. Just what causes this? Is this related to the xs fat that comes from the dysfunctional fat cells or are there other causes? Thanks for the extremely informative talk...and this, imho was NOT too technical so keep it coming. A Q &A with Alex would be great

    • @TheEnergyBlueprint
      @TheEnergyBlueprint  6 месяцев назад

      In insulin resistance, cells gradually become less responsive to insulin's signaling, which leads to higher levels of insulin being needed to maintain normal blood sugar levels. This resistance can occur due to various mechanisms like:
      Downregulation of insulin receptors:
      Impaired insulin receptor signaling
      Increased serine phosphorylation
      Elevated levels of free fatty acids
      Inflammation
      Mitochondrial dysfunction
      Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress
      Thanks for the encouragement!
