3 lvls of battlesmith is one of many go to favs. So easy to go 5-6 arti & then Wiz to get big spells + extra attack & using int as your melee atk hit/dmg really slaps hard since you can max int/con np... But one of my favorite dips is just 2 lvls of Chronurgy Wiz for the ability to reroll after the fact 2d4 on just about anything once per rest & the int modifier boost to initiative... couple that with alert and you can get a +10 to initiative by lv 2 or 3. That's huge! Add that with some of the initiative boosting items arti can craft and you can dang near guarantee your gonna first every turn.
I do 4 lvls of Artificer for Armorer and feat, then 16 lvls of Abjuration Wizard, with a Mark of Warding Dwarf with Dwarven Fortitude and Durable. Best tank in 5e with a high AC, Thunder Gauntlets, Arcane Ward, Armor of Agathys, and the ability to convert hit dice directly into HP in combat by simply dodging. That’s ~630 HP an enemy would need to burn through before you would take any lasting damage.
@@jeffersonian000 Dwarven fort. + Durable is so overlooked... coupled with druegar... + alert and an ASI... yeah you know what's up... I'd also like to try mixing the 3-5 lvls of arti/druegar with enough rogue phantom lvls to get the ghostwalk and resistance to ALL damage + extra attack + keen mind feat to go with shades of the past... I think if you (DM is kewl) meditate like 72 hrs you can have expertise in almost half skills and proficiency in all skills... never tried it... but on paper it looks to be easiest access to Uber skill monkey with legit dps. Fun stuff
Unfortunately Unwavering Mark only works if you are within 5 feet of the opponent and only STR modifier times per day. So if you mark a bandit then the bill pushes him 10ft from you and moves up the bandit could still attack the bull without disadvantage I believe
True, but then you get the Bonus action attack from the cavalier feature, so our offense goes up, and if they are attacking our steel defender that is one less attack coming at our party!
Thorn whip would be handy to pick here since you can pull them in closer, perhaps peeling them away from the allies. Of course we combine this with war caster and booming blade when they try and run away. 😋😁😁😁
@@petersteele7603 I wasn't even hinting that yet, but now you say so, should work great. The original idea was more that, because we want them in melee being able to draw into melee for the unwavering mark would be useful. As soon as they are in melee warcaster of course gives us another tool to tell them "you better stay here and focus on me buddy".
I'd like the cavalier more if it utilized the mount more, I get the idea was to make the fighter useful even if they don't have their mount but it's to the point that having a mount doesn't add anything. The whole point of a calvary was to slam into the enemy and punch out the other side using the mass of the horse to crush defenses and keep moving not run and stand still. If they removed the part of its ability where it has to be a creature within 5ft (maybe its 10 ft I haven't looked in a while) it would be more worth it
chavalier is like taking a fighter with built in sentinel feat, very cool. just unfortunate it doesnt give you much for the riding a horse and fighting fantasy
If you take this build to Strixhaven and choose Lorehold you can get Spirit Guardians. I choose a Autognome and reflavored the whole build as a broken animated statue from Lorehold, the Autognome being the torso and the steel defender being your legs, both are constructs.
Forgot to add, from Lorehold you can pick the shield spell, then mounted combatant to force attacks towards you, then the steel defender uses reaction disadvantage and you can use shield.
Not sure this build would work as a variant human though, seeing as your size will be medium and so is the steel defender. and rules wise a mount has to be one size larger then you for you to be able to use it as a mount.
You should totally put your builds to paper so we can read along as well. I feel like the pace is going a bit fast in your videos. otherwise, I'm having fun looking at all these unique builds
Add Spell Sniper and a reach weapon to booming blade from 10 feet. I personally like it because they have to move to get to you unless they also have a reach weapon.
I don't think the cavalier is underrated, most ppl agree that cavalier is good mechanically but thematically it doesn't really upgrade much of your effectiveness as a mounted combatant
I don't think you can use booming blade with a reach weapon, or are you saying use the glaive within 5' of the opponent with booming blade? I think you can try the whole thing with a greatsword...You could be a thri- kreen for a glaive and a short sword...
Oh god roflmao! Custom lineage (no shell tortle) it's why for the heavy armor profencicy. And going armorer. Lol it's steed is a giant turtle. Lol a racing turtle. Lol Don't ask me why my brain came up with this one. Lol ☕️
Not sure how it competes with the armorer, but I think it is awesome for getting a tankier vibe from the battle smith
I don't think Booming Blade works with a reach weapon, since the range is "Self (5 ft radius)"
If you use spell sniper it does
At later levels you can infuse gauntlets of ogre power or a belt of hill giant strength to get more uses of unwavering mark
Smart!
This seems like an enjoyable build. Sage thanks for the continued quality videos
🤜🤛
Awesome build!!!
Sentimental, get you you your cavalier combo also haste with catapult in the spell item feels good

You can mark as many times as you want, it’s only the attack that has limited uses. The 5 ft range is annoying though.
Centaur just..... MmmmmMmmmMmm flavor.
And nice u use of Ursa for the thumbnail. Lol

Thorn whip + Shieldmaster... push, pull, repeat.
Get a second PC to play ping pong with enemies over a grease slick, web, spike growth, etc...

You don’t ride the metal bunny (steel defender)
@@DnD_Daily ah touché, did not think about it in that way.
You can if spell storing item has enlarge/reduce and you give it the mind sharpener.
Have you made a drakewarden video?
We actually have not yet (surprisingly) we'll put it on the list!

Or better yet if he released a build Bible with all his builds in it with the art that he provides on his videos I think he would have a hit.
Add Spell Sniper and a reach weapon to booming blade from 10 feet. I personally like it because they have to move to get to you unless they also have a reach weapon.
Since booming blade has a range of Self (5ft radius) instead of 5ft, I don't think spell sniper works for it, but obv could vary from dm to dm
it doesnt work with the Tasha's reprint

You are able to booming blade with a glaive/halberd/whip, but the target has to be within 5 ft of you, so you can't do it from reach
