California drywall patch

In this video I patch a hole in the wall using a drywall "California" patch. This type of patch eliminates the need for drywall tape, it also makes a flatter patch, thereby decreasing the amount of drywall compound needed to coat it flat.
In the video, I'm using all-purpose drywall compound, otherwise known as drywall mud. This mud does need to dry at least over night. The process could be even further sped up by using a fast setting compound, known commonly as "hot mud". Using a 20 min hot mud, a hole in the drywall can be fixed in an hour.
